  1. You will be able to raise your attributes, just not often. No specific number has been quoted but yeah I wouldn't expect anything lower than every 4 or 5 levels (more likely 5).
  2. on an LCD anyway. The option in D:OS is a frame rate cap, not Refresh Rate setting. They're different. And you can see the difference between 120FPS and 60FPS even on a 60Hz monitor. VERY noticeable in FPS games especially, despite the monitor not being able to show more than 60 frames, the game will feel a lot smoother.
  3. Oh, well there you go. I tried out the QNIX monitors but both of the ones I tried were defective (bright spots, dead pixels). Wasn't game enough to try Catleap or Overlord after that. The game doesn't have a Refreshrate option, so what you should try and do is download RefreshLock. Set that up so it forces 2560x1440 @ 32 bit to 96Hz, and make sure it's turned on. Then run D:OS. That should override D:OS just using the desktop resolution. I plugged in one of my CRT screens (Lacie 22") and it runs at desktop refresh (1280x1024 @ 120Hz).
  4. my D:OS runs at 120Hz ? D:OS may have a problem running some refresh rates (it sounds like you have a QNIX monitor). Some games don't like those non-standard refresh rates. You could try downloading a program called RefreshLock, I use it for my CRT monitor on my second PC. Also if you're using AMD you may want to add the custom refresh rate into the registry so games will recognize it. But yeah it sounds like it's your PC and not the game. LCD monitors combined with an AMD card in particular can have some fickle issues like this, but they can be resolved.
  5. I think what you're referring to is called "Walla". D:OS actually has too much of it, and the NPCs repeat their lines at much to short intervals.
  6. That won't be possible, but the Cipher has a few CC spells IIRC, all requiring targets, however. They don't have any AoE disable stuff.
  7. I really don't care what the beta is released on (it will be steam of course), but I thought the issue is worth bringing up. My Red Orchestra 2 beta and full copy of the game were both on Steam and completely separate, so it is possible to not have the full game overwrite the beta.
  8. When I played the Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin alpha/betas, they were both steam exclusive. However when it came time for release, both companies simply just updated the beta that people had downloaded and locked their choice in as Steam for distribution. Both companies also did not announce when their early access versions went up that this would be the case, it was only something they said a few months out from release. Due to complaints Wasteland 2 offered a second copy of the game to everyone who purchased over $35 or $55. I actually filled out Larian Vault redemption for my D:OS but they changed it to Steam on release day. Larian are also offering a grace period where you can change it, but it's not available yet. Will this be the case for Pillars of Eternity. I have beta access, and I assume the beta will be a Steam exclusive to "try to prevent leaks", so if we download the backer beta, will that lock us into a Steam key for the final game?
  9. It was pretty horrible when I played it. Although that was during the first few beta versions.
  10. Their stamina to health ratio combined with Stamina healing = Tanking
  11. Wands are not class specific. Grimoires are. I don't believe you can cast from scrolls in PE. In fact we aren't even sure if there are consumable scrolls in the game.
  12. There are no class specific quests in PE though (due to budget reasons). Maybe for PE 2. There's also no item restrictions either. Class items are non-weapons.
  13. I think PE can do much better than that. Paladins are not of the gods in PE, but of Organizations. You could have a different legendary weapon for different organizations or something instead. Really has to make sense in the lore, I'm not sure whether the PE writers would think it to be "sensible" that Paladin orders have lost their artifacts.
  14. You just have to feed the Barbarian more stamina spells / potions to stay alive in an encounter. In a way Barbarians are a damage soak.
  15. 5 (of many) pros : A true infinity engine style game in 2014. Kazunori Aruga is working on the game, as far as I'm concerned he's a splendid hire. Every piece of art he has produced has been absolutely fantastic and he really captures the IE look and feel in his work. We're also probably quite lucky to have Josh Sawyer as Project Director and Lead Designer. While not everyone may agree with his system design philosophy, Josh really seems to understand "the IE feel" and if someone else was in his place we may not get a game that is very much like the IE games at all. Environment Art: IE style. In High Definition (100 woohoos) The possibility that there might be MORE games using this engine Most of the things that I've previously thought were cons I've come to terms with but I have a few concerns about the game: The Spell FX art style might be really modern and flashy with too many lights. I'd prefer more subdued IE style FX The portrait quality might be sacrificed for quantity Character animations may not be very good The game might not be as long as I was expecting The game may have some of the hitches I've experienced with other Unity games (popping audio, stuttering, bad FPS)
  16. It used to be 1:6 rather than 1:8, which they obviously found wasn't enough.
  17. They already said this in the "design and npc / item" help thread. I *think* the equivalent of PE's Superb quality weapons would be somewhere around a +2 or +3 item. Feel free to mod one in yourself
  18. We don't know, but you will also be able to buy more actives through the Talent system. I'm pretty sure you can only have 14 abilities as a level 12 character, so maybe you also get to choose.
  19. http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Fighter On the wiki there are 16 abilities for Fighters, and there is a Knockdown ability and a Group Knockdown ability.
  20. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/63968-update-56-paladins-and-wild-orlans/ http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Paladin Basically Paladins are supposed to be positioned in close proximity to other party members. You can play a melee Paladin up the front with the Fighters and Barbarians, or a Ranged Paladin back with the Wizards, Druids and Rangers. You want your other party members to benefit from the Paladin's auras.
