  3. Petrify. They have some dumb status effect called Petrify that doesn't actually Petrify, I think it paralyzes you and you take direct health damage. The first time I attacked the spiders in the cave my main PC ran in first and was killed instantly.
  4. No, you were talking about locked camera games. I was talking about free camera RTS style games that have a zoom - like Warcraft 3, DotA 2 and all that.

  6. have you watched my videos on how to do it ? I don't even play particularly well in them either since I've now learned a lot more about how good some of the Priest spells are that I haven't been using.
  7. All wolves have a knockdown though. I suppose it's similar considering you can't act while prone and probably receive penalties to defenses. Anyway, they need something else.
  8. Well BG1 did use tiles for the 3D Geometry, if that's what you're referring to. I thought most of the areas themselves were pretty good, they just didn't have enough quests. Each Wilderness area had one minor quest (usually a fetch quest or a "save from X" quest) and that was it.
  9. Well exploration was a disappointment in the Black Isle games, so I suppose it wouldn't be much of a surprise if it was here as well, as they generally favor smaller maps with higher content density. A shame though.
  10. I would say that this is not in the spirit of the IE games (the lack of combat XP), but like I've said before, it's a non-negotiable and thus a waste of breath.
  11. I think it really depends what features you are talking about. Feel of combat - you can quantify this by going back and looking at the old games and having a look at what types of feedback they gave, what the animations looked like, how fast it was, how long characters had to wait between actions, how long combats took in general. I could go on and on, but I really think it's not that hard to see what people mean when describe something as feeling like the IE games. Josh Sawyer also had a powerpoint page on his GDC Presentation dedicated to the IE feels.
  12. I refuse to use slow motion because it is altering the default speed of the game. Testing in slow motion is counterproductive when we are trying to get the default speed of combat correct. Marceror, which fights are you struggling with? I've been repeating some of the fights over and over for different class demonstration videos and I've improved quite a bit. In my first video I paused quite a lot, but I find that now I don't need to as much. Unfamiliarity with the spell levels also magnifies this issue. Several Priest spells make most fights pretty trivial now
  13. Yeah I agree, although a longer adventuring day would require more strategical use of spells.
  14. Suppress Affliction has a huge AoE as well. On that note I just noticed that the Stone Beetle's ability is called Teleport through earth .. WTF, that is the most convoluted name ever for a burrow ability.

  17. No I'm not, I'm just saying that for the vast majority of games that have a zoom, it zooms on the center of the screen rather than the mouse cursor. I wouldn't want it to zoom on my cursor, that would be annoying.
  18. There are two functions of the tab key - object highlight and tooltip display. These functions need to be separated.
  19. My point was more you don't get that 'first time amazement' as you've already had your first time, and it was a buggy unplayable mess
  20. Haha you know, if you cast Web first it doesn't initiate combat, but it hobbles the Beetles. Then you dump a fireball with targets Reflex. Hobbled reduces Reflex defense.
