  1. Grom, as others noted, check your journal, as the quests are sorted by type (main, side, etc). So just do whatever ones strike your fancy and, like gkathellar said, the turns will roll with each completed quest/task. There's no urgency, as the main quest doesn't have a timer.
  2. Go for it. People are pretty good here about giving some advice on builds and tactics. And yeah, you need to stay with the platform you got the game on as far as patches/DLC/expansions go. So you guys are still going on Monday nights, huh? All the old crew still around? I seem to recall SmokingBob disappeared a while before I dropped off the server.
  3. Welcome, Grom! Long time, no see. I was Cin* over there. Ah, remember the good old days slaying monsters with the likes of SmokinBob, Grizzled Dwarflord, Mystic Jester, and the rest of the crew? Good times. Grom, hit me up with a PM if you're still interested in the game and I can maybe hook you up with a GOG version. *edit: Dinichthys on the WoG forums.
  4. Perhaps for you and your friends this is the case. It certainly isn't for me and many others - and yes, I played many years of paper and pencil RPGs. So, sure, a co-op mode might be cool, but the game doesn't have it. As noted by MalVeauX, this game obviously isn't designed in a way you and your friends like, so you're obviously better served finding one that is instead of wasting your time here.
  5. Just curious: Is this the Grom from the World of Greyhawk server?
  6. This is much closer to what I'm trying to say (and far more succinct).
  7. Um... no. It seems you completely misunderstand me. I judge other fantasy RPG components on their believabilty. That ties into the whole 'immersion' thing (a horribly overused term, and one I am even loath to use, but it fits here. And please don't confuse this with 'realism'). As for satisfying, that also applies to other RPG elements, especially the story. If that's not satisfying, I may not complete the game - and if I do I certainly won't recommend it. Same with writing - and that covers romances, btw. Have I ever said "I don't like the way this dungeon was designed or how this dragon attacked me, it was unsatisfying "? Yes, I have. The former, many times. The latter, not exactly in that fashion, but I've complained about the battle with a particular dragon (to adhere to the example) on at least one occasion, stating I found it not fun and very unsatisfying because of the way the encounter was designed as well as the fact that the creature's difficulty relied pretty much solely on an overstuffed health bar. Yes, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, although I'm not sure you're disagreeing with what I'm actually trying to say (and if I'm unclear, I take full responsibility for that and extend my apologies).
  8. My personal aversion is quite rational, actually. I've found almost invariably that romance options in games are just awkward, not believable, and generally unsatisfying. Of course, there's always the option to just not bother with them if they're in the game, I understand that. But if it's there, I'll likely follow it to see where it goes, in the (usually vain) hope it will be good. I've yet to be overly impressed. So I'd much rather the time spent writing and developing romances were spent elsewhere.
  9. Who are the 'old dogs' though? Since Romance was in some of the old IE games, perhaps the lack thereof is a 'new trick'.
  10. Yeah, +1 to what gkathellar said. Besides, this is no more 'silly' than having a Wizard in your party that can command the fundamental forces of nature, but he can't open that locked door without the key. And what's the constant beef with intelligent barbarians? Hell, Conan, one of the inspirations of the Barbarian class in RPGs, was extremely intelligent. Just not particularly well educated.
  11. Not Documents. Check C:\Users\"your username"\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity
  12. I'm on Win7 and have the GOG version. My saves are in: Computer->User->Me->Saved Games->Pillars of Eternity
  13. Not sure I follow your post: are you asking if your laptop will actually run the game, or are you posting to say it won't (or will)?
  14. Don't take the Endless Paths as a measure of the difficulty of the rest of the game. For the most part, Endless Paths tend to be tougher than most other areas of the game (with a few exceptions). And the difficulty seems to spike at various levels as you go lower.
  15. Yeah, I agree. My intent wasn't to imply that they promised anything but rather that the statement I linked was likely what Baron_Bathory was referring to.
  16. Not in concrete terms, but it was indicated as a possibility in the future: Here
  17. Until such time as this feature is implemented, it's easy enough to use the in-game developer console to give your newly-created character, all the same stats, gear, and money. A bit more time consuming, to be sure, but at least it gives you the ability to have an ersatz 'import' feature.
  18. No need to apologize. There are a ton of people on here who can give you some ideas to try so you may be able to solve your problem. Just keep posting whatever info you think may be relevant and keep providing answers to peoples' inquiries and hopefully we'll be able to get you rolling without further issues. *edit* I've got to think its an issue on your end though, since so many people have played through the game without these problems. So - fingers crossed - maybe we'll be able to help you figure this out.
  19. What version of the game do you have (Steam, GOG)? As well, what OS are you playing on? This seems to me to be an issue either with a corrupt install or possibly something going on with permissions. As for your Ranger moving to the target, are you sure you've selected his bow? Perhaps you inadvertently selected bare hands or melee weapon? I know it's a stupid question, but sometimes it's the simple things that are overlooked. Do you have any mods installed? Is the game patched to the latest version? *edit* Something else that occurs to me: you're saying the enemy target circle is green. It should be red. so maybe there's something screwed up with the factions well.
  20. Move a little further south to the Spoilers forum.
  21. You can, yes. But not everyone wants to. That's kind of the point of getting the physical DVD DRM-free.
  22. Currently unknown, although Obs said they plan on setting something up (probably through your backer account portal) to get patches for the DRM-free DVD version.
  23. Well, so far I've received everything except the replacement cloth map. In Canada. I don't think I agree that it's a 'disaster', but I can certainly agree that it's damned annoying. However, given that there's the ability to DL a digital copy and play, there's really no reason to be completely bent out of shape about it. Yet.
  24. I didn't enchant much in my runs through the game, but isn't this what currently happens? I seem to recall that if you enchant in one of the categories and there's already an enchantment in that category, that it replaces the original.
