  1. He can kill them all in hoboest way possible. But then he'll unlikely to have proof, they'll just stop answering like Eothas, maybe someday they'll be forgotten. Or not. And if their deaths somehow would have projected to the followers that'd effectively make the Watcher a new god, whether he is one or not. That would make for some interesting game endings depending on how you built your character. The Watcher could end up a very kind benevolent deity or a very cruel, despotic one. Maybe he/she wouldn't need to kill all the other "gods" but could come to some sort of alliance with them. The Leaden Key is still around to cause trouble.
  2. Religious belief is a highly personal thing and I believe it best to tread lightly when discussing it out of simple human courtesy. The existence of God can neither be proven or disproved. Trying to tell me otherwise is a complete waste of time. In PoE there is evidence that the gods do exists and do have power. There is also evidence that they were created by the Egwithians. What would happen if the Watcher is able to persuade a significant number of people that the gods are not gods? I think the world would fall into chaos. There could even be retaliation by these god creations themselves causing more suffering and disasters. If I am correct it would be better for Eora for the Watcher to drink his cup of hemlock rather than deprive the kith of their beliefs.
  3. I agree that Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. please note the bolded words. It is not just wishful thinking it is something very solid, very real. It is conviction. It is something that people have been willing to live for, die for and kill for. Faith can produce miracles, make saints of sinners and cause wars. Faith should never be underestimated. Which is why I do not think it possible for the Watcher to ever prove that the gods are not gods but constructs of mortals. As Wael tells you who are you going to believe some mortal or some deity?
  4. Oh? Yes, I reread the OP and you are right. I now retire from the discussion as I really have no idea how to answer that. My addvice would be don't worry about it and just play the game.
  5. This is a hard question to answer without giving spoilers. Pre-made companions can be found in certain locations. Adventurers you create yourself can be hired at inns.
  6. Faith is trust in something or someone. It is the belief that the person or thing will react the way we expect it to react. This Durance's problem that his god did not react the way he expected her to. It is why Eder was at least partially Eder fought against Waidwen because he did not believe that he acted according to Eothas's beliefs and partially because he had faith in his brother and thought he had also chosen to fight against Waidwen. Whether constructed by mortals or not the gods in PoE exist and have powers. People will believe in them, have faith in them. What actual proof does the Watcher have to lay before people?
  7. Faith is not logic. Although it can be based on logic. I have faith that when I perform a certain action such as flipping an electrical switch a light will go on. We can have faith in ourselves, in another person or in some diety. I have no problem with how PoE as handled faith so far. We end the game with the ending of the Hollowborn Curse but if the Watcher were to try and prove to the people in general that the gods are not true gods he or she would probably be killed as a heretic. I think PoE is about faith. Eder has faith in the teaching s of Eothas he doesn't need a living omnipotent god to have this faith. Durance on the other hand needs a living omnipotent god to justify what he has done. I think that so far the developers have handled things well by not giving us answers to questions that cannot be answered. The sun does not rise in the east and set in the west that is an optical illusion. The earth is round despite what my eyes say.I have seen the aurora borealis and it is a wonder to behold. It is quite possible to have faith in that which is real and in that which is not real. It is when we stop asking questions that we become slaves to our faith. Faith is a tool of the mind and should not be the master.
  8. Pets are a safer subject than romances at least here on this forum.
  9. IIRC correctly you can get there from Raedrick's Keep area, Black Meadow or Esternwood. Remember the first time going there you may need to search for the proper poral. One of those may have a sign post telling you more less what direction to go. If you have gotten there you should arrive on a bridge. Walk down the Bridge Kana will be humming or something. Talk to him. Simply click any where on the map to enter the grounds. Pay attention to what Kana tells you about the place and why he is still outside. I usually arrive at Caed Nua at level three and leave it at level four. Good luck.
  10. The Expansion. Actually I enjoy trying out different characters seeing if I can do something in a different way, get a different ending to a quest. Only played through once so far but have many hours of play time already. Currently have a character I find challenging and interesting and will probably finish this play through. Yes, I think it does have replay ability.
  11. First I disagree that basic attributes don't affect gameplay. Second I don't see comparing PoE to the IE games as productive. The IE games were not perfect. In their time they were new and innovative for computer role playing games. You can learn from the past but you cannot live in the past. Computers and their hardware and software have evolved a lot over the last fifteen years.
  12. I run around with a white wurm. I killed its mother and feel a little guilty about the poor orphan.
  13. That is a possibility. My only problem with that idea is that I feel that some of the side quests are harder than the main quests. They are optional however. Decreasing the XP for them would not affect my play style.
  14. I am currently playing a Priest of Berath. I gave her "Pallid Hand", The Great Sword Justice, the Sun Touched Mail Armour and she is doing quite well as a Battle Priest supporting Eder. I do have a ranged weapon in the second weapon slot although Mace would be the other bonus weapon with Pallid Hand. I have no problem RPing a medieval battle priest plus PoE priests are not pacifies t Christians. Durance is currently playing a support role and also has mail armour but is mainly ranged. Sagani surprised me by having the most crits. Rangers are great, love them.
  15. Gromnir, I think I fall into the completionist category and I don't want to be saved. However after playing Oblivion and Skyrim I admit I have been desensitized.
  16. This is the "No Spoiler" forum and it doesn't matter. Some people might have had no problem with it but I did. My point is that we each have our own play style and that in itself affects XP. It is impossible to make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time. I believe the XP for bounties was dropped. Those could be dropped more I suppose if really needed. There are I believe 12 possible bounties I haven't done them all but that is what I understand.
  17. I doubt that the developers could ever get the XP balanced so that it makes everyone happy. I like getting to level 7 as soon as I can. There is a side quest in Act 2 that is very hard for me. It is easily missed. I missed it the first time through. Lucky me. I do think the Bounty quests do add XP which I think is fine. They are completely optional. Do not in my opinion affect the story in any way. I like XP the way it is.
  18. I found that my bug was not a bug. I was playing the game as Administrator and by changing that to normal play I had no problems. Steam has to update the local files, the ones installed on your computer, and can't do that if you are playing as Administrator. All seems good for me so far. No problems.
  19. I just tested my save file with Kana, and his chants work fine in and out of combat. If you're confused by his chant icon on the ability bar being highlighted all the time, that's how it's supposed to be if you activated it.. no, he keeps chanting and I cannot get him to stop or do anything else. I have tried reloading an starting the fight again with the same result. He refuses to recognize that the enemy is all dead and the fight over. All was fine before the update. Just started after the update. Hmm... it appears that the combat state didn't end properly. Can you can cast combat-only spells even if there are no enemies around? Try maiming Kana. I have been playing the game as Administrator. Let me change that and see if I need to let Steam reset or something. Maybe verify files. Can't do that right now but will try later. Thanks for the help.

  21. While I appreciate Obsidian trying to make this as good as possible this is also why I do not like a lot of patches. "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Now I can't get Kana to stop chanting. First time I had this problem. The game was playable now I can't play it. At least with my current game. Is there a way to back out that last "fix"?
  22. Are you using the tab key to highlight chests and people? Wirtan is in the area where you enter the ruined temple. The game does require a lot of attention to detai. Did you talk to the dwarf woman hanging on the tree in Gilded Vale? She opens the "Old Watcher" quest and then Eder will be available to join your party. You have to have some dialogue with him though.
  23. Thanks, majestic, that does explain a lot. Back to topic more or less. Why do humans need gods, need a belief system? I think it is because we are thinking creatures, we ask why, how, what and we seek answers. Why does the sun rise in the east and set in the west? Why are we here? Where did we as a species come from? Before telescopes, microscopes and all the fancy tools we now have people had to depend on their five senses and their brain for answers. My impression from the game is that the Egwithians did not believe in gods so they created some in the hope of bringing order to their world. What they created is real just as my computer is real.Their creations are not omnipresent, omniscient or omnipotent but flawed just as their creators were flawed. They do have supernatural powers, powers beyond the average mortal. They can interact with mortals and reward or punish them. They are a force to be dealt with. We should not underestimate them or dismiss them.
