Character Saves Carrying Over?
If it's possible I would absolutely love it. Mass Effect was so full of (unrealized, in my opinion) promise in that regard. If anyone could do it right, Obsidian could. But then, it might be impossible without a substantial budget.

Oh, another thing for balancing guns: Let us carry more than one if they're small. It wasn't uncommon to carry one or more back up pistols and to just discard the first one and draw the second after you fired it rather than reload.

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.
Indeed, Karranthain. The armor was always appropriate to the application in question, and they had a nice variety. Some was very utilitarian, and some was really funky. But when it was it generally made sense. Sauron's body basically was his armor, so it can look as freaky as he wants because he's a demi-God.

Fair enough. It's a question of different priorities. Not sure why everyone gets so worked up over it. Well, actually I think I do know: Understandable reactionism to the less pleasant aspects of BSN. But still.

Hate. Let me tell you how I've come to hate you since I began to live. Seriously, you're entitled to your opinion. I just like alien designs and am a giant Morrowind fanboy.

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.
I like enchanted weapons looking fancier. But I also think it would be funny if you had an exception to prove the rule. See Lord of the Rings: Most of the rings of power were quite showy. The One Ring though, was a plain gold band.

Weapon mechanics
On the Claymore maybe throw in a stagger mechanic? Like a raw block instead of a parry can temporarily stun the foe from the sheer weight and force of the strike? Another thing that's important to me: Bows require STRENGTH to use. The divide between light quick bowman and hulking swordsman is not only arbitrary, but unrealistic. An English longbow had a 110 pound drawstrength. Firing one over and over again is tremendously tiring, and English longbowman were notoriously tall and strong (their 'side arm' was a longsword). There's a reason a popular and effective line of exercise equipment works on the same principles as a bow. A smaller bow would of course require less stamina to reuse, but also have less range and penetration. Even a longbow with bodkin arrows needed to be fairly close up to penetrate plate. Really, light and dextrous fighting styles suit certain forms of melee combat far more than ranged. Come to think of it, you could further balance guns vs. bows by taking strength and stamina into account. Firing a gun isn't particularly tiring at all.

That's really not even necessary. Real life sea creatures are so terrifying on their own merits they can transfer them wholesale. Nature is more horrible than human imagining. Imagine a goblin shark the size of a megalodon.

In his defense, what people want and what Obsidian is likely to do are not necessarily the same thing. They don't have a reputation for pandering.

Voiced NPCs
The poll criteria assume that it's a magical world wherein it does fit the budget no matter what. I voted accordingly. In the magic perfect world, yes, I'd love fully voiced NPCs with quality voice actors. Since we don't live in a perfect world, I'd rather that Eternity not have VOs for any but the important characters, and even then only to flavor the important scenes.

I really hope most of the people in favor of it aren't specifically keeping the stereotypical 'Biowarian' romance in mind when they think of it. That's really not what I want. And as someone that's fine with romance being included, I'm also quite fine with it not being in the game at all.

Gods in Eternity
The Sharmat replied to Giantevilhead's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I want more divisions than sapient/nonsapient. There's some funky ideas in neuroscience about multiple kinds of sapience, and questions of whether there is a sharp threshold or more a continuum of sapience. Some Gods could be Super-Sapient. Or, to take the disturbing concept from the fantastic sci-fi novella Blindsight, a God might be fully sapient, but not self aware. A tremendously intelligent being that no less lacks any capacity for self reflection. A God that does not know that it exists.

If we must take from real world myths: give me some Hindu creatures. Rakshasa can be pretty funky. Also those weird alien things Krishna encountered that sounded like a species from HP Lovecraft.

Magic vs. Firearms
After seeing all these posts, I really hope Obsidian has noticed them as well and that blowing up an opponent's magazine with magic can be a thing.

Metaphysics and All its Fabulously Gnarly Implications
I was more discussing the abstract themes associated with that. In other words, the morality of objective morality. What if you disagree with the reasons for being damned? For example, many people would find the Old Testament book of Leviticus to have some morally reprehensible concepts. What if you found out that the powers of your world actually operated that way, and had defined reality such that bathing in a river while menstruating was a sin, and contributed to your damnation? Is a moral act moral because a God/Gods said so? There's also questions of 'gaming' the system. What if you know the morality as outlined by your Lawful Good deity, and simply follow the precepts for brownie points to get into heaven rather than any genuine belief in said precepts or inherent 'goodness'? How does the world respond to such a thing? There's some fun stuff that can be done in a fantasy universe along these lines.

Weapon Balancing
Has anyone mentioned being able to find enchanted guns just as you would any other traditional piece of RPG equipment? Because I want magi-tech guns.

Gods in Eternity
The Sharmat replied to Giantevilhead's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I want to see Gods being unapproachable and inhuman. That's why they're Gods. I also want the full range of philosophies humans are capable of. That means maltheists, apatheists, and in the case of this setting, Flat Earth Atheists. Because just because something actually exists doesn't mean everyone is going to believe it. EDIT: Also fake Gods. Just because there's real Gods doesn't mean someone can't make some up.

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.
The coolest real world armor objectively (Yes this is not even a matter of opinion) is any armor that has one of those Iberian face covering chainmail veils.

Since you and only one or two other posters seem to have actually read the poll criteria, I don't think that's an accurate representation of the vote. Both the poll and the thread utterly failed at doing what I hoped to accomplish. Though naturally my poor wording has a large share of the responsibility as much as the other participants. EDIT: To remain on topic, and since not a lot of others answered. Interactive romance plots in games I felt were done well: Torment: Annah and Fall-From-Grace. Kotor 2: Handmaiden, Atton, Darth Sion. ME3: Garrus. Not the ME2 one though. Note that only one of those examples was from a Bioware game. The idea that the majority of those in favor are from BSN, even if it's true (and I don't know if it is or not. Personally I can't stand the place.), isn't a logical argument; and is the sort of lumping together of opposing views I'd hoped to avoid.

Update #5 - Souls, Technology, and Adventuring Companies
Armored wizards, and guns to kill them. That's fixed two of my major gripes with fantasy worlds in one shot. See what I did there? If only I had more money to up my pledge.
- Flexible deadline for a more refined game?

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.
How about using some attacks require another attack feat to have successfully landed first? Then you could actually have a sequence like slash/parry/riposte? Would give fighters a lot more to do.

The crazy Morrowind monsters didn't stand out in game because all the wildlife was like that. Also, Lycanthropes are trans-species, not transgendered. Although I suppose one doesn't preclude the other.
