    Swine Flu

What part of CA? last I heard it was down in SD not near Sac. Anyway, I'm not that worried, I was probably inoculated by the military, and if I wasn't I've got the immune system from heaven. But then if I ever get sick I'm the type who's locked into his room/bed for a week and unable to do jack diddly. Latest mapping Three confirmed cases in Sacramento. That's 30 miles from me. Still, 3 cases out of the hundreds of thousands in the Sac area is not enough to panic over. It is, however, enough to be concerned, especially since with my lung condition even a common cold would be fatal. As I've said, I'm not panicked yet. But I am watching the global spread with interest and concern.

    Swine Flu

I'm concerned... lots of cases in Callifornia, and three of 'em are about 30 miles away... but I'm not in panic mode yet. What's happening in Mexico is horrific; 160 dead and 2000 hospitalized in "serious respiratory distress." For some reason, the flu hasn't been that virulent in the cases diagnosed in the US. The global spread is disconcerting, but outside of Mexico there haven't been any life-threatening cases so far. The next week will tell the tale of how serious this could be globally. Then I'll happily panic.
  3. The LAST Fantasy RPG I have purchased was NWN2 and all expansions. I have not purchased or bought: The Witcher (Not interested in b00bie Cards... Now if it had HAWT GUYS....) Drakonsang... or whatever it is called. bleh Gothic 3.... Seriously. PB WTH? That's all I can think of that has been released since NWN2 + Expansions. I don't plan on buying anything fantasy wize. Alpha Protocol looks............................. interesting. And there is no FRACKING Elves, Dragons etc.... <3 <3 I REALLY WANT MY FRACKING ALIENS RPG!!!!!!! *SHAKES FIST AT SEGA* I felt the same way about The Witcher... I mean, infantile booby cards? gag me... BUT people I trusted (thanks, Crash Girl!) told me you could totally ignore the card thing (almost totally...) and it was otherwise a darn good game. So I tried it, and damn. It really held my interest, was a great deal of fun... and the character you play is just so cool (and handsome!) that I couldn't help being drawn into it. If you can find it for a decent price, I'd really recommend you give it a try. It's one of the few games I've played more than 4 times, that's how much fun I have with it! Just think about it, okay?
  4. Thanks for the links, Maria!
  5. I'm not sure why you chose to say that, since I obviously know, unless you are trying to make fun of me? I also know that when said big explosion happens, the game abruptly ends and you cannot go back to do any quests you may have missed. Hence the warning, because if you haven't played the main plot before, you might end up doing quests which lead to this supprising big bang before you are ready. Which is what happened to me in my first game. I was just trying to be helpful.
  6. Yay. Another female-bashing thread. Just can't have too many of those, it seems.
  7. I enjoyed him too! I urge you to head to the radio station ASAP, because the more quests you resolve, the more he has to say about those quests... and how you handled them! It's fun for those like me who have a low giggle threshold! Also, as soon as you do 3-dog's quests, you can hear his station all over the wasteland! Plus he gives you hints for quests you can do during his "news" breaks.
  8. I'd restore, but that's just me... also because I know the plot fairly well. I always go directly to the radio, because it gives several good jumping points inside the city (which are difficult to get to otherwise), and because I like to hear about myself on the radio afterwards! Then I stay away from That's just more fun for me because I enjoy exploring at my liesure, hearing 3-dog sing my praises after I've done some heroic stuff! I actually don't know if what you've done would break the main plot or not, but since you're not familiar with the plot yet, you might find yourself at the endgame before you realize it. Which is a bummer.
  9. I don't like scary things. They scare me. When I'm watching a movie, reading a book or playing a game, I want an enjoyable experience. Being scared is not an enjoyable experience for me. I've never understood why so many people would pay money to see a movie that does nothing but have some psycho running around chain-sawing off body parts in gruesome, bloody detail. I just don't get it!
  10. International waters. Japan has no right to warn ships to leave international waters. Neither does China. Neither does the USA. International waters. If China is foolish enough to construct "sensitive military areas" in international waters, then they have played Russian roulette with their military secrets, because they do not own the waters they have placed said secrets in and have no right to prevent other nations from transversing those waters... for any purpose. International waters. It was not Chinese territory. You can repeat that phrase from now until WWIII, but that doesn't make it any more correct. The unarmed USA ship was in international waters. Pearl Harbor is not 125 miles from the USA coast. It's in the damned harbor, within spitting distance and sight of US soil. You analogy fails. On many levels.
  11. They've probably already done so, and if they stayed in international waters we would have watched them like a hawk. We wouldn't have had any legal right to do anything else. Every country on this planet gathers intelligence, and if you think the Chinese haven't put a priority on gathering intelligence from America... even by downing our surveillance plans in international airspace then stripping them down, as they have done already... then you're woefully misinformed. But it seems as if you think what China did was okey-dokey, so long as it was doing it to big bad America. I guess we'll just have to disagree.
  12. They've probably already been there. International waters, don'tcha know. The USA doesn't own the international waters closest to its borders, and the Chinese don't own international waters close to theirs. It sounds as if you think the (mostly civilian and unarmed) ship deserved it simply because it was an American vessel. China was out of line here. Way out of line.
  13. I'm still considering it. Husby is going in for major eye surgery in a couple of weeks, so I won't be doing much game playing until after he's recovered. If I do get it, I'll post my impressions here after I've played for a bit.
  14. Actually, it was extremely helpful! Answered my questions and gave a great deal of info about it to boot! Thanks very much!
  15. Thanks for the replies. I'd be interested in the game just as a fun diversion, but not if it's 99% text with only a scattering of voiced dialogue (which would explain why it's selling for the startlingly inexpensive amount of $29.99). I'll just skip it until I have more info.
  16. Thank you. I was aware of that thread... I posted in it... but since my question was limited to the sound quality of voice overs and music in the demo, I though starting a separate thread to ask about it might be easier for those who could answer to reply.
  17. This looks like a fun old-school Baldur's Gate type romp. I'm not expecting epic here, but it does appear to be a fun diversion. Thing is, I can't find any reviews of the English version, and the YouTubes for the English version I've seen have no sound... which makes me wonder if there's any English voice-over or if it's simply subtitled. But there was no music either. Just curious if anyone here has played the English demo, and if there were indeed English voice-overs and background music.

    Farewell

I'm so sorry to see you go... even temporarily. I know you'll be back when you get back on your feet. Until then, you'll be sorely missed.
  19. This game actually sounds fun to me. I'll wait to read some reviews and player impressions before I buy, but it does look like an enjoyable romp for party-based RGP fans like myself. Then again, I'm not particularly stringent in my reviews of games I play. If I had fun, I like it. Fun is a good thing. I'll be watching for this one.
  20. This game looks awesome! Thanks for the tip.
  21. You probably don't want any female advice here, but I'll give it anyway, since I read your previous entries and am pretty much up to speed on your dilemma. No, you're not a jerk because you smirk about her marriage problems. However, if the marriage should fold and she looks you up again, keep this in mind: A person who was unfaithful once will probably be unfaithful again. In other words, if her husband couldn't trust her, neither can you. Unless you crave constant dramarama in your life, you might want to move on and open yourself to finding someone who wants to pursue a relationship with you, is free to pursue a relationship with you, and doesn't have a history of window shopping for her next mate while her current one is next to her in bed. I realize you know all of this, but the occasional blunt reminder can't hurt! That said, good luck finding what you are looking for.
  22. This is seriously disappointing as DA is the only game I've been looking forward to. A big plus that it was touted as a "dedicated" PC game. Now I don't recall Jade Empire or Mass Effect, "dedicated" console games, being held up for six months to coincide with the PC release so yeah, I'm pretty bummed about it. I like Fallout 3 a lot, but not enough to replay it for the next 6-7 months. Crap.
  23. This topic isn't likely to cause heated debate around here. I honestly don't think too many of the posters here... if any... disagree on the issue. Of course gays should be allowed to marry... and to adopt children, and to partake in every other privelege/right of living in this society. The problem is that they aren't, and most of us just scratch our heads and wonder... why?
  24. You bring up a point I have silently fumed about for years. Global journalists decide where international attention will be directed, and what will be ignored. Decades back, this was not the role of journalists... and I simply cannot accept their transformation from reporters of international fact to interpreters, commentators and sole arbitrars over which international facts will be reported... while picking sides, of course... and which international facts will be utterly ignored. That's why I listen to shortwave & not CNN. US media has a definate bias... BTW Hi Di, long time no see... Heya! How's my favorite dwarf? *smooch!*
