  1. Actually on a further (somewhat related note). The build up I described above would be very reminiscent of KotOR. I remember the first time through the game I was intensely curious about Revan (didn't know who he was) and badgered everyone I could about what they thought about him, what they believed his motives were, if they ever met him, and so on and so forth. I remember Juhani as being notable simply because when I asked her about Revan, she had apparently observed him (perhaps not formally introduced, don't quite remember exactly what she said, but I believe she saw him in person). That alone had me keep her in the party for longer than usual to see what else I could learn from her. Even Canderous was cool with his story on Revan taking on Mandalore (I may be remembering that wrong, but I seem to recall that Revan was the dude who took down Mandalore personally - damn he's vicious B) ). Jolee (his senility aside - amusing as it was) intrigued me as well, I don't think he ever met Revan face to face, and yet he knew about the conspiracy (surprising considering he was stuck on that back water planet for some time). I'm guessing I'm going to get really attached to the first couple of characters that can give me any kind of info regarding Revan. :D
  2. Actually, the ingame dialogue may not be such a bad approach. With a questionaire at the very beginning, we might only be able to convey an objective view of what happened in KotOR. Otherwise the questionaire would become cluttered and quite personal, ie. asking what we thought of Revan - supposedly we served under his banner during the Mandalorian War (?). With in game dialogue, it's more natural I guess. They can fill us in on certain events and we can respond subjectively to probing queries of Revan et al. Later on, if we happen to encounter Revan (and others), hopefully his (her?) personality would be adjusted accordingly (if they managed to pull that stunt, I'd be stunned). Hopefully they don't hit us all at once. I'm thinking they'll lay the questions on gradually - unusually heavy at first, but later on, becoming more subtle and infrequent . Kind of a skewed build up (with intense pressure at the beginning dwindling to intrigued curiosity by Game End as the clues unfold) before the closure to the mystery behind Revan. Of course they (the writers) could throw all of that out the window, and have whoever's drilling us say, "well, that's nice, but Revan's been dead for awhile now, we got his corpse in sick bay ..." just after starting the game. I don't know about the rest of you, but that would warrant a chuck-the-game-out-the-window reaction from me  .
  3. Well, I guess that confirms it. (beat me to the punch )
  4. I thought Force Storm was a KotOR 1 power, an upgraded force lightning bolt (the kind that Sith Lords seem to like chucking about)?
  5. If I didn't know better (and I really don't, just felt I had to make that cliched opening statement ), I'd say all this talk of the 'Hawk, and the mystery behind Revan's disappearance has attracted the attention of some higher ups. People in this forum have mentioned that a new story would be best for KotOR 2, but there seems to be significant number of us (and by us I include myself in the grouping ) that are still hung up on Revan. In fact, solving Revan's disappearance is likely going to be a major distraction from the main quest (if solving that mystery is a side quest that is). New characters are fine, but the attractive force that Revan has accumulated has reached nearly epic proportions (I'd say on level with the mystique attached to Boba Fett after people first saw Empire Strikes Back). To discount Revan in the face of such interest may be damaging to the franchise. I know I'd be the first to say, "Hey, the galaxy can wait <_< . I've got to find Revan and find out for myself." That is if it ever came to a choice between saving the galaxy and getting closure on Revan's fate/destiny. What do y'all think?
  6. There's been a seeming increase in traffic by Developers to this forum lately. Already I've seen Akari, Adam Brennecke (?), and AnthonyD (?) zip by. Maybe that's a good sign, since they seem to both have the time and curiosity to visit. It may indicate that all the rough stuff is done, and they're just cruising the forum to try and gauge what kind of reaction their work will receive upon KotOR 2's release. Think may be it's time to pander to them so they can give us more goods on the game?
  7. I think you meet Canderous later on in KotOR2 (he may have a piece of the mystery behind Revan's disappearance). Bastila may or may not be dead (and conceivably would have been taken with Revan if she was with him), and as for the others I'm unsure. For whatever reason, I think Revan was alone on the 'Hawk with perhaps the exception of Bastila and TM-34. If you keep pestering Canderous to tell you his old war stories, eventually he'll get around to telling you of his patrol duties in (?) the outer rim. I think he tells you about the story before he relates the fall of Mandalore and the Mandalorians to Revan's army. Maybe we'll have to mount a rescue effort? Well, I'm grasping at straws here. Besides, it's getting somewhat quiet around here lately. Figured I'd try and contribute something, even if it is blanks fired into a dark room.
  8. Anyone remember the conversations with Canderous? Specifically the stories he tells of his patrols of the Outer Rim? The one story about him encountering an alien object (ship or creature?) encased in an asteriod (?) seems to stick in my mind lately. What if there's a new kind of menace other than the Sith Lords? That ship (creature?) in the story gave me the indication that it was imprisoned. It fled the scene straight off the bat after Canderous freed it from that chunk of ice. I've been thinking that maybe there's an enclave of Rakattan (sp?) around in the outer reaches. Rakattan that haven't lost touch with the Force, still have their radically advanced technology, and are still nursing a vicious mean streak. Revan disappears in the outer reaches right? Maybe in the same area as that alien ship? What if he got ambushed by the Rakattan (or some other alien menace) and taken prisoner? That could explain his lack of presence or noticeable activity in Republic space. And being taken prisoner would be a 'universal solution' in that these Rakattan (or whoever) would strive to take Revan whether he was good or evil. The extremely banged up condition of the 'Hawk would suggest some kind of battle. And isn't TM-34 (sp?) still on the 'Hawk at the time? I seem to recall reading somewhere that if you start the game's tutorial, you start off as TM-34 trying to jury rig the 'Hawk. Maybe TM-34 got temporarily incapacitated (thus unable to witness the fate of the rest of the 'Hawk's crew - and likely left for dead) but managed to recover - sans memory (you'd think amnesia is contagious, what with half the cast seemingly aflicted with it <_< ). Although I wonder at the absence of the other crew members - I think Canderous mentioned that he'd stick by Revan (not sure though, too long since I played KotOR), and Mission and Zalbar (if they weren't killed) would most likely remain with Revan. Anywho, all of this could actually be a lead in to SWKotOR 3 (or KotOR 2 expansion), with Revan being the first casualty (so to speak) in a much larger conflict to come. Just some more wild shots in the dark.
  9. This question is actually related to another post I made in the Revan topic. What if Revan is alive, but circumstances in the game force us to kill him? I think that would royally suck, but at the same time, if Revan has to die, there would be better closure if we're the one's that have to strike him down. I would have preferred to see the Prodigal Knight become a member of the Jedi Council, but he'd be far too dangerous to leave as a loose cannon in the galaxy at large if he did fall to the Dark Side (again! ).
  10. Actually I should have put more emphasis on it, but I believe that Revan is coming back as Secret Optional Mega Boss (Just a shot in the dark on my part). You know, a dude who's WAY stronger than the End Boss  (kind of like Kangaxx (sp?) from BG2, although with a BadA$$ factor that's several orders of magnitude greater). Someone you can only meet by completing all manner of obscure side quests and having to say-the-right-thing-at-the-right-time-to-the-right-person or you'll blow your chance of ever meeting the dude face-to-face . The type of dude you have to go through 75% of the game picking up clues to figure out what dressing he used on his salad and whether he clubbed his sandwich or not for his lunch the other day (maybe not so extreme, but hopefully you get the idea of how difficult this guy should be to track down). Of course, if they make us jump through those kinds of hoops, meeting Revan better be worth it! Besides, even if the above is true, Revan will probably toast us for disturbing him (especially after I ask him for his autograph :D ). That brings up another question, I wonder if Revan actually wants to be found (or even if he does, whether it would be easy or not to do so). I get the feeling he may have been incapacitated or altered in some way by something. In anycase, I get the impression we won't be likely to meet him (or receive closure on his fate, if meeting him is impossible) until near End Game.
  11. Just had an 'Akari' sighting, so there might be hope yet to get questions answered (Week-end Programmer 4? or would it be 5?). I swear, I just blinked and he dropped off radar . The dude's faster than greased lightning (shakes head in disbelief).
  12. Maybe darthruler112 is playing from a translated variant of KotOR. Or maybe it's just typos. :shrugs: Cut the guy (?) some slack, eh? [edit: I meant, "give the guy some slack" :D ]
  13. I don't think we'll be hearing sound bites from Revan. He (she?) always struck me as the quiet type (even though there were reams of scripted lines that we chose, we never hear a word). Most likely it'll be a kind of monologue with him (her?) nodding or shaking his head a lot. <_< As an aside, I'm thinking they'll turn Revan (and possibly Bastila if she made it) into a secret Mega Boss. The kind that makes the end boss look like the first grunt you toast in beginning of the game. Not sure how it would work for KotOR:Light to KotOR2:Light or Light to Dark, but the other combinations have possibilities.
  14. Concept art book would be acceptable . As for another lightsaber key chain, I guess I can finally do the dual-wield thing B) . I wouldn't pay $20 for the key chain, but I might be convinced to place a preorder for KotOR 2 (yeah I'm a forum member and I haven't preordered it yet  ).
  15. Who is he for real Revean [ 1 ] [10.00%] Malac, he didnt realy die on the Star Forge [ 0 ] [0.00%] One of the sith lords [ 1 ] [10.00%] The only person who can have a pink saber [ 3 ] [30.00%] A Mandelorian Jedi [ 0 ] [0.00%] Some Tweilik I met on Tatoine [ 0 ] [0.00%] ????????????????????? [ 5 ] [50.00%] Total Votes: 10 So, Atton Rand is really Revan - a Sith Lord - who happens to wield a pink lightsaber? Chalk me up as one of the clueless.
  16. Actually, I'm put more in mind of BG to BG2. I remember my first time through BG2, running into people and seeing the option "Hey, aren't you supposed to be dead?" (or I killed you! - which generally got a response that I would chuckle at) Picked it a couple of times just to see the response, but the funnier reactions came when I went "who did you say you were?" Made even funnier because I really had no clue why they insisted on pestering me. I wonder if we'll get into moments like that in SWKotOR 2 (even after saying we aced this or that character). [edit]Of course, since we're different characters anyways, it's unlikely we (TSL character) would be overly concerned.
  17. Well, at least I got a Lightsaber keychain out of KotOR's preorder. It flashes green like a consular's blade. A pity I can't tote it around, since I don't fancy shoving that lightsaber in my pocket (looks like it would jab pretty deeply  ). Wonder if they'll have similar goodies for preordering KotOR 2. They've already got that scout trooper figurine for SW: Battle Grounds (?).
  18. If he (she?) is seen, I wonder what he'll look like. I'm not sure how intensive or probing the questions are, but I don't believe they'd be able to specify the exact appearance of Revan's character model in the first game (aside from us having to choose the character model). Another thing that's been bothering me about the line of questioning. How is it that our character is supposed to know anything about what happened in KotOR if he (she?) was out in the Rims somewhere while the rest of the galaxy went to pot? Can't be the Force, since we've been told we'd start off the game out of touch with our abilities (no "I sense a disturbance in the Force" or "I have foreseen it" moments for us I guess ^_^ ). And aren't we supposed to have been alone in our exile? I was under the impression that the questions would be laid on us gradually during the game, rather than in a one shot at the beginning (either at or soon after character creation). That led me to believe that it would be NPCs asking us what happened (they better include the "How in Blue Blazes would I know?" option for those of us that didn't play KotOR - hey it can happen, I picked up BG2 and never bothered to go back and play the first one  ). Which brings up another concern. What would happen to those people that didn't play KotOR? What would be the 'official' history then? And if there is an 'official' history, why bother with the questions? (it would be clear at that point that there was no relevance to anything we did in the first game)
  19. I'm almost positive someone's asked this before. But I'm not going to bother to search for the old post since this forum seems to need a little revitalization . So might as well recycle some old topics, besides I'm really interested in the answer. I for one would shell out some serious cash for some extra goodies (as an example EQ2 DVD CE + preorder has caught my eye, but compared to SWKotOR 2: TSL, EQ2 is an extremely distant second - which isn't too bad, considering all the other tripe that's on the coming out list doesn't even qualify as a game IMO ;ie. there's nothing else that's even on radar). It doesn't seem likely, since I don't recall seeing a SW:KotOR Collector's Edition (wonder if it's in the works? ). I do remember getting a lightsaber keychain, though, for pre-ordering KotOR. Will there at least be something of that nature?
  20. I'd say that Uthar's life just got a few days shorter!
  21. Will the game feature some Doomsday device? ANH and RotJ SW movies both had the Death Star, but it was SW:ESB that rates my fave of the three. Not even sure why, but the uber weapon just didn't factor into it. I'm hoping SW:KotOR TSL will (as the title suggests) focus more on engaging the Sith Lords than taking on some super battle station. Not that KotOR's Star Forge sequence was bad (that whole space battle thing was entertaining - at least the SF wasn't equipped with some kind of super cannon that could take out capital ships with one shot), but I think I'd rather have more space battles of the 'regular' variety (like the opening sequence to KotOR - seeing those Sith fighters out the bridge viewports of the 'Spire was cool). On a related note, if we get stuck in a space battle, will you be able to actually show enemy fighters strafing our craft through its viewports? I remember hanging around on the bridge of the Endar Spire just to see if I'd see one of those fighters do a 90 degree turn and strafe the bridge! I was just itching to see that and have that real sense of - " Crap! Let's get the heck out of here!" (Now there's incentive to use the escape pods! )
  22. You mean the one that had Yuthura as an 'apprentice'? Someone above mentioned it as Uthar (?). Not sure myself (he didn't leave much of an impression on me, other than giving me the opinion that he was moronic), just goes to show how memorable he was . Yuthura on the other hand ... (I'm partial to vicious chicks )
  23. The 'Hawk looks the same to me (at least the outward appearance). What I'm wondering is, will we get that 'Tardis' feeling everytime we step into the ship. In KotOR the outer dimensions seemed noticeably smaller than the inner. Since walking around the outside of the ship didn't seem to match taking a similar circuit inside. :shrugs:
  24. Yuthura's redemption was cool, but the first time I went through the game I had no clue that she could be saved (accordingly I didn't even try). But I don't know about Uthar (sp?) making the list. The first time I encountered them, I took 'em both on at the same time. His reaction was something along the lines of, "... this makes no sense, why turn on us both? " To which my reply was, "... because I'm a Jedi infiltrator ya nimrod! " (not in so many words of course ), and then proceeding to cut them both down (made sure Uthar bit it big time first ).
  25. I don't remember the exact quotes (can't even remember what HK was talking about), but I do remember it was funny. R2 and 3PO have nothing on TM and HK. [edit] I think it works better if you have TM the moment you step into the droid shop that HK's in. Keep talking to the shop keeper about HK's abilities and the circumstances in which he was found. My memories are faulty but I think TM and HK should have their first exchange there. One or two auto dialogues should come up later if you keep them both in your party long enough after.
