  1. They did. It was dropped around the time that HoMM5 came out. I think they use Securom now.
  2. I agree with the ads in the racing game. I can see those working well without being too distracting. However there are very few games that I think would work well with modern product advertising. I mean Drink Coke! Official drink of the 22nd century military! just wouldn't work well.
  3. If anyone here had actually been in that forum you might have noticed that there was discussion and even a sticky about it. Like this thread here in fact...
  4. Let me relate to you a story I just read. It's about a little bunny rabbit. The Fable of the Excellent Bunny Once there was this excellently perfect bunny (like you). The bunny always did perfectly excellent things. One day the bunny met this chicken who was a huge jerk. And this chicken always did mean horrible things. The excellent bunny wanted to make friends with the jerk chicken. But as you know, there's no talking to jerks like that. So the bunny let his friend, Mr. Bear, eat the chicken. And then everything was great! Moral: All problems can be solved by letting a bear eat them. May I ask why you want a polar bear? "
  5. Hey it's been three years (well not including the notebook) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm still running on the computer that I purchase 4 years ago this October. In that time, I've added a sound card, swapped the video card once (W00T! Go 9600 Pro! ), swapped the hard drive (30GB>160GB) and swapped the CD-RW for a DVD Combo drive. All the computers (or rather almost all) in this thread make my computer cry. :'(
  6. Oh great! This will be like the second computer you've purchased since I bought mine. Go on! Show off your massive ammounts of money by buying another computer. See if I care! :'(
  7. The billions of dollars in taxes on cigarettes that smokers always complain about? "
  8. Still playing Act of War: High Treason. Finally hit a snag here on mission 10 or so where you have to defend yourself from 3 fully complete enemy bases. You start in a good defensive position, however I've been trying to use my heroes to defend against the enemy attacks, but I've discovered that a single shot from USA Paladin artillery will kill half of the troops that garrison a building including my heroes. And of course their survival happens to be a mission objective. Also, my mouse is dying on me.
  9. Yes but if that's all that he's talking about, I can think of several other games that also offer the same advantages. Emperor: Battle for Dune is one.
  10. and yet the only other game that makes good use of terrain advangage was Starcraft... generals just kinda ignored it (sight bonus was it) and Warcraft ignored it for the most part. :sighs in resignation: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Terrain Advantage = Slightly better sight/target range and slight 25% miss chance for units on lower elevation? I can't think of anything else that Starcraft offered in terrain. Is that what you are referring to when you say terrain advantage?
  11. Ah yes. That would be it. Although wasn't Red Alert 2 the only one that could really be classified as "campy"?
  12. Generals was fine, although it just wasn't really C&C. It was missing that something.
  13. HAHAHAHAHA! Die Consortium scum!
  14. How can you people like "Tech Talk" better than "The Technomicon"? You people have no taste!
  15. I linked to a new movie with Kucan in it earlier. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was some speculation on the internet whether or not it was actually him or just a really good look alike.
  16. Skeeter was the mutant in Fallout (2 right?) that would upgrade some of your weapons. He lived in a junkyard. I like 6, 7, 10 and 15. Can't think of a 5th one.
  17. I much prefer Westwood's 2D C&C's above EA "enter whatever location here"'s 3D *C&C in name only* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Considering you only have Generals to look at when talking about EA's C&C, you'll find that there are many, many C&C fans that agree with you. Heck, some don't even consider Generals to be a part of the C&C franchise no matter what the title says. And Metadigital, it's Joe Kucan. Hassat: I recall reading that it was confirmed that Kucan is back as Kane, but I can't find where I read it. I'll keep looking for you though.
  18. I like that one. "
  19. Apparently Earth is no longer a planet. Link
  20. When do we start the riots? Oerwinde: O... M... G... That is supposed to be Megatron?
  21. My mistake. They are actually using something like this. It just reminded me of a .50 machine gun and kinda sounds like it in the game. Slightly different.
  22. Depends on the soldier. I can't recall ever being able to kill a tank with just regular soldiers. Heavy snipers can take out tanks. The heavy duty machine gun troops don't do much in anti-infantry mode, but do pretty well in anti tank mode...
  23. Act of war isn't too bad in that regard. All basic infantry will die in one hit from from a tank. The more expensive guys will survive a little longer though. 1 on 1 the infantry die fast, but if you can get a group of them together they can hold their own.
  24. what'd they add? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now that I have played the first two missions and gotten my butt kicked in the third I can say that they have added several new units a full new campaign, unfortunately not with any FMV's though. The difficulty seems to have racheted up a notch or three as well. Although I swear it's cheating. .50 Machine Guns with armour piercing rounds are great, but one can only take on so many M1A2 Abrahms at once... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> snipers vs m1's? Run like heck! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not snipers. New unit, two troopers holding a machinegun mounted on a tripod. Can switch between anti-personnel ammo and anti-tank ammo. Although Heavy Snipers still work quite well versus M1's as long as they don't try to squish you. I'll try and get a screen shot of them at work for you.
