Half.com doesn't help me all that much. It's missing about half the books on my list (hurray for Canadian editions!). For the other half, I've already found better (closer, higher condition and cheaper), or the campus bookstore is actually cheaper.

I just discovered that my first year uni textbooks will cost me about $600 for the fall semester. There is another $300 worth that I'll need for the winter semester, but I can knock that down to about $100 luckily. I found a copy of my Computer Studies text for half price and the second economics textbook should be easy to find. "Hey Bob! I see you've got a Macroeconomics text, care to trade for my Microeconomics text?"

I had to bike down to school this morning for a presentation. Didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. Basic stuff like go to class, get help if you need it and don't forget to sleep. After that all the first years got to meet with their "academic advisors" for a quick discussion. At least it would have been quick had they not had some organizational troubles. I left when I heard the name of my advisor called. Followed the right staff person, but still ended up in the wrong place. Had to double back only to find that the room I was supposed to be in was closed, but luckily found there person I was looking for. Then we discovered that half the group that was there with him was there for a different person. Two advisors with the same first name and last initial. Finally managed to separate us, and ended up with only two people so instead of finding a huge classroom we ended up chatting in his office. Since there were only two of us there we finished up early and here I am with another 2 hours before anything else comes up.

Metroid is fun, but there aren't enough hidden items. I'm used to completing the GBA games with scores of around 50%, but without really trying I managed 74%. It might just be because there are a lot fewer items that are completely hidden and instead are just "It's over there, but how do I get there?"

I just finished my first run. Now to try again on hard to make up for playing on normal the first time.

My little brother is better at exploring in Metroid Prime 3 than I am. He can't do the combat, but he seems to spot every little secret there is.

You're right, it's not quite the same, but a free game is still a free game. On the Fallout topic, I predict that you'll be able to get it from Bethesda soon. I wouldn't be surprised if they tossed the originals in with Fallout 3 for some sort of "Limited Edition".

To go along with all the other free games EA is giving away C&C Gold and it's ad free.

I'm watching Predator right now. I managed to catch more than the last 10 minutes this time.

Peragus is to K2 what Irenicus Dungeon is to BG2. It's fine the first couple times through, but after that it get's really boring.

I think in this case you need to take both the mainstream gaming press view and NMA. I don't think there is a middle ground yet. You have the gaming press which seems to be trying it's hardest to hype the game like no tomorrow and on the other side you've got the NMA that we all know and love.

I'm back to Fire Emblem Sacred Stones for a day or two before I get to try Metroid Prime 3. I just lost another 45 minutes thanks to some druids with berserk wands. I completely missed them and ran right into range. Both of them managed to hit me. One took out a level 18 knight with 10 health that immediately attack another knight and died. The other managed to grab Ephraim who one-shotted another knight with a killer spear critical. After that it was time to reset...

Well, yeah, but is that gonna stop him complaining? I understand the logic but I think 3 is *too* small. For that number, it better have a huge and real impact responses to the PC unlike anything we've seen before. Which would be very nice. Somehow I doubt that, since most NPCs wouldn't really care what his background is, they'd be caught up in how the PC is currently "first human (space cop whatever)" I'm expecting the background to be just like NWN2's - only really relevant to stats and to what NPCs say at the very beginning of the game. Spectre. Cops who don't have to abide by the rules.

Same here. The only annoying part was in the suit underwater and that stupid announcer every time you left the hangar.

Stupid Roman history class. It's my only class on Fridays and they just had to put it at 3pm.

I'd really like to know how the hell is it that they think they can get away with that. Wasn't this a major complaint with Morrowind (I think)? That if you are going to have it control like a first person shooter, all you are going to do is frustrate people when they can't seem to kill anything despite having "perfect accuracy"?
