  1. Booze, drugs and sex for everyone. Or Judaeo-Christian mores. I pick the first one.
  2. I thought HDR wasn't very well used in Oblivion. Some scenes looked much better than without it, but others just made my eyes bleed. One of my characters was fairly light skinned and with HDR on, under the right lighting conditions her hand practically made my eyeballs explode.
  3. I honestly don't remember, but are you referring to the original System Shock because System Shock 2 definitely didn't have unlimited anything? Anyhow, when I think of Alpha Protocol, I think of RPG's (not the weapon, you nuts). Therefore, comparing it to Halo or NOLF is a bit pointless. I would personally compare it to the great RPG's I've played that also used real life conteporary weapons (or at least somewhat realistic weapons). I'm thinking Jagged Alliance 2 (limited), Deus Ex (limited), Wasteland (extremely limited), Fallout & Fallout 2 (limited) and so on. These are some of my all-time favourites we're talking about so hearing about how they're dumbing stuff down (what Rorie & Co refers to as "streamlining") is really disheartening. Game isn't finished yet though, maybe this isn't a finalized decision? I was actually thinking of SS2 but the first one also had a good use of limited ammo.
  4. While Oblivion had great graphics, it had pretty awful art direction which made the game a bit ugly to me. Also, like Morrowind, it had big performance issues, even taking into account all the graphical bling.
  5. Didn't they specifically mention that only certain, very powerful weapons would have limited ammo in AP? That's not the same as having a puny pistol with limited ammo.
  6. There are plenty of game that use limited ammo to great gameplay effect. System Shock would be the best example, I guess, but also the first Rainbow Six games would be stupid and not half as fun with infinite ammo, and the same goes for Deus Ex, or even NOLF which had masses of ammo but not for all weapons. I guess that in AP at least the silenced handgun *must* have limited ammo.
  7. THe problem wasn't not experiencing Renaissance or the Age of Enlightenment, but rather not experiencing Reformation, which eventually stripped away whatever political power Christianity had.
  8. He crippled his head?
  9. He's probably not an orthodox Jew, then. My point stands of course.
  10. He is religiously Jewish?
  11. Any graphic depiction of Muhammad is strictly in the Muslim religion. It's like the equivalent of forcing a Jew to eat pork. Only the reaction is extreme because the Muslims complaining are, well, extremists.
  12. Where did you that quote from? Edit: The answer is Voltaire.
  13. You do realize that posting links to videos with Linkin Park music is against the forum guidelines and Geneva Convention?
  14. I'd like to point out that the difference between Iran and about any catholic country, for example, is that in Iran the religious leaders are also the political leaders. There simply isn't any separation between church and state in Iran. If the pope had the same political power as Iranian religious leaders, European laws towards homosexuality and apostasy, wouldn't be all that different from those in Iran.
  15. Street Fighter IV. IT's kind of a 2.5D remake of the best fighting game ever, and it's coming to the PC. Faith No More
  16. I'm locking this, to prevent any problems that may arise over the posting of magazine scans. The topic stays here as a reminder.
  17. Go to Firewine bridge if you want, although the ruins can be annoying. There are some good items on the bridge map itself.
  18. Well, there's Viconia, but she's evil. Also, I think there's a dwarven fighter/cleric in the Cloakwood mines. There's also Quayle and Tiax but you can only get them inside Baldur's Gate. Tiax is also evil.
  19. Like the rest of the expansion content leave Durlag's tower for the end of the game. AS for ditching Khalid and Jaheira, go ahead and trade them for Dynaheir and Branwen. You shouldn't really need more than two warrior characters in your party.
  20. The Speechcraft minigame was an atrocious idea, that automatically made dialogues and characters feel artificial and mechanic. And they were already too mechanic and artificial even without the minigame.
  21. Captain America's greatest foe. Red Skull is his name.
  22. It isn't just the "Kill Bill" bit. It's also the infinite ammo, not being able to pick up weapons or bodies, and the supposed ability to "River Tam" enemies.
  23. I was thinking a bit about how they've described combat, and about that over the top, "Kill Bill",character artwork, and suddenly this is starting to sound like a Devil May Cry RPG with an option of stealth gameplay thrown in for good measure. Which would irritate a lot of the more hardcore RPGers, but could, to me, be totally awesome as it's just the kind of game I'd like to play. Also, in such a game, infinite ammo would be okay, of course. J.E. has said before that he'd like to make a game along these lines so maybe that's what AP is turning into. Now, with this in mind, I don't think the whole CIA agent, realism, Syriana angle would really work with such a game. This is the kind of game that I think would work better with a more lighthearted, humorous, and even satirical narrative, than with a standard action, conspiracy, taking-itself-very-seriously kind of storyline. The devs should really pop in and say something...
  24. Very nice screenshots. I like the style. Is this screenshot a cutscene, or ingame action?
  25. He does? Unless you're talking about Cate Archer, I don't think so.
