As per Azdeus' request I'd just like to point out that the Vega 64 Nitro+ he loaned me is huge and unwieldy and I kinda hate it. It covers everything and it is very impractical. The bastard. It runs Control at 55 FPS maxed, at 3440x1440. Horrible. Pictures of a black, closed box incoming.

I love my new case. Clean, easy to assemble, quiet, solid. Even with the door open and the fans at full blast it is not that noisy.

Thanks to Azdeus' kindness, and the gargantuousness of his gift, I now have what I would call a fully modern PC again. The only coming change is to buy a new graphics card, as Azdeus will want his Vega 64 back, and I'd like to have something RTX as soon as prices are reasonable again. We have had a couple of RL meetups but they have been, of course, very rare. I remember Eldar met with someone else a couple of times, but I can't recall who. Myself I met Rosbjerg 11 years ago when we went together to Roskilde. At one point Krezack, Allanschu and Gorgon might have joined us, but sadly they ended up backing out. Otherwise I'm friend on facebook with a few forum denizens. I just spoke with allanschu today, there, for instance. I also have Bokishi, Role-Player, Kor Qel Droma(he's a grandpa now!), Drabek, Muso, and Kirottu there if I recall correctly? Oh, and Rosbjerg, of course. Thinking about it there are surely more. Anyway meeting @Azdeus, the serial coffe drinker, was very awesome, and we are sure to get together again. Also it is great to be able to talk about gaming again, you know, with actual voices involved. I can't believe I totally forgot it, but I met Tigranes once for dinner, when he visited Lisbon for some conference thing.

I just ordered a new case and PSU, something that I had wanted to do for quite a while now. Azdeus' loan of his GPU, forced me to finally get something, as his Vega 64 is gargantuan. My current case and PSU are over 10 years old. They have served me well, but it is time for them to rest a while and listen. Eventually I will use them for a cheapo build for my son. I bought it because my current psu is not only old but has shortish cables. It had excellent performance, though.

So my daughter's GPU appears to have finally died, putting pressure on me to upgrade her PC ASAP. After following prices daily for a few months, I really am loathe to pay a 50% premium on a GPU, especially now that prices seem to be slowly going down. Also her and my wife are lobbying me to just buy a prebuilt (the humanity) as there are a few Intel based acer computers with 3070s currently available for about 16000 SEK. It still is overpriced. It just appears not to be because the market went insane. Basically, I really want to wait like a month, at least but, obviously, I understand the kid's plight. The prat.

I used to be a Cisco specialist but nowadays I use mostly HP Aruba. They can support PoE if you pay extra, but not Deadfire.

He makes some valid points (Democrat legislatures are, indeed, often incompetent) but his dismissal of "Republican advantages", to push his own theories is disengenuous. The Republican advantage in state legislatures is almost exclusively a matter of demographics. As for businesses leaving California to Texas, one could argue that it could even help Democrats in Texas, although it shouldn't make that much of a difference either way. Also, Zakaria used to be a Reagan conservative. Just because he isn't the Trumpiest Trumper that ever Trumped, it doesn't make him a Democrat. Hence why he is basically pushing a narrative that spending by Democrat state governments should be curtailed.
