To repeat myself about Limbaugh : And also: And also: "I'm sorry he's dead. I understand he was suffering." To state that someone is happy that Limbaugh died because they didn't like his radio show is incredibly disingenuous. It's akin to saying that some people were happy Ted Bundy died because they disliked his murder weapons.

Outside interference was already common before 1979, and that interference has directly or indirectly fueled instability in the country. The British and the Russians vied for the region in the 1800s causing 3 wars and massive instability. During most of the 20th century, the USSR was the big political driver in the country, pushing for an implementation of a communist government. The upside was the modernization, and the rejection of extremist religion(all religion, but oh well), the downside was that they were turning Afghanistan into a puppet state that did not reflect the population on the ground. They invaded to "bolster" that government. This was the act that pushed religious extremism to the fore, I'd say, although the US providing military resources to that lot surely did not help. No, the cold war wasn't, technically, colonialism. It was modern imperialism given cover by the Truman doctrine. As per usual. To say that the rise of the Taliban was a direct consequence of USSR action in the country is a gross simplification, given the religious makeup of the region, and ignores the support the US and the Saudis gave the mujahideen. The US should not have acted in the way it did, no. The invasion of Afghanistan was a pretty obvious choice internally, though. It surely did wonders for the GOP's popularity in that period.

Afghanistan is a pretty good example of colonial and geopolitical meddling creating gigantic intractable problems. Its problems didn't start with Biden or Trump, obviously. But they didn't start with Bush Jr, or Reagan, or the Soviets, or Pakistan or the British either, but they all had a hand in making things a little bit worse. Or immensely worse, depending. In any case the current conflict was specifically lost the day the US invaded Afghanistan.

It's plainly not true. MLS is still a weak league compared to, say, the top 10 leagues in Europe,at least. It is still very much a retirement league for top players.

I just watched the latest John Oliver thing, and it managed to surprise me once more. The US is an insane developed country. The subject was EMS in the USA and how terrible it is. Sure. What took me by surprise, though, is that EMS is not considered an essential service in the US. As said, just insane.

So I ran a bit of DMC5 on the card. Average FPS of 80, although the game was mostly at 100 once I disabled V-Sync. 18ms in the 95th percentile. As for temps and airflow, and tested a bit with closed door, open door, fans on low and fans on high. Not much difference. Stable 70-72 degrees, with the gpu at 99% usage the whole time. Of course, I usually play at 60 fps, so this is more than enough.

I haven't checked yet.

As per Azdeus' request I'd just like to point out that the Vega 64 Nitro+ he loaned me is huge and unwieldy and I kinda hate it. It covers everything and it is very impractical. The bastard. It runs Control at 55 FPS maxed, at 3440x1440. Horrible. Pictures of a black, closed box incoming.

I love my new case. Clean, easy to assemble, quiet, solid. Even with the door open and the fans at full blast it is not that noisy.

Thanks to Azdeus' kindness, and the gargantuousness of his gift, I now have what I would call a fully modern PC again. The only coming change is to buy a new graphics card, as Azdeus will want his Vega 64 back, and I'd like to have something RTX as soon as prices are reasonable again. ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 G.Skill Ripjaws V - DDR4 - 16 GB Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 Nitro+ Crucial MX100 512GB Seagate Barracuda ST4000DM004 - 4 TB Dell U3415W 2 Dualshock 4 gamepads Antec P101 Silent Seasonic CORE GC 650 I also bought a new case and PSU. I was forced to buy a new case to accomodate the Vega, but I was actually wanting to buy a new case to for years, as my Cooler Master Storm Scout was getting really old(ten years, to be exact. The PSU was also as old, and the one flaw it had was shortish cables, so a new PSU as well. The PSU was an OCZ 600W StealthXStream II and it served me very well. A great buy. These will eventually go into my son's build. He's hogging my PC all evening to play CS GO and Fortnite. I guess I might as well put up my daughter's new build too, as it was the death of her old PC that triggered all this money spending: G.Skill AEGIS DDR4-3200 C16 SC - 16GB Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 650 ASRock B365 Pro4 Intel Core i5-9400F ASUS Geforce GTX 980 Ti Seagate 1Tb 7200 RPM S-ATA2 32Mb Kingston SSDNow A400 120GB Samsung 23/24" screen Corsair Carbide Series 100R

If a developer's name starts with the letter B and it lives long enough, it will end up becoming a villain. Blizzard, Bioware, Batman, Bethesda. Also, not snobs but holders of the one and only incontrovertible truth.
