The All Things Political Topic - Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one
That's frankly ridiculous and shows a glaring lack of understanding as to what made Trump successful.

Curious as to what point was made, exactly?

Nothing in the words you took from the Codex comes across as sarcastic.

Ukraine Conflict - Drei Kameraden
This is currently the problem and what worries me the most. I don't think Putin is willing to lose face, and it seems like he is increasingly placing himself in a situation where every outcome will look badly on him. Be it a war loss(unlikely), an eternal war of attrition(likely), or Russian economic collapse (maybe?). So he is painting himself into a corner, and I have to wonder how much of a raving idiot/lunatic he can be? Is scorched earth an option for him?

To give myself as an example, as a Portuguese dude living in Sweden, I will defend Portugal if a Swede criticizes it, while I will defend Sweden if the converse happens. I can and will criticize both myself though. In other contexts.

Ukraine Conflict - Der Weg zurück
It's all relative. Just because things are better in the EU than in Russia, it does not mean the situation is not in need of some deep changes in the EU. I mean, I moved to Sweden from Portugal, because the issues with Portugal were big enough that I felt it wasn't worth it to stay. But on the other hand a bunch of Brazilians have recently fled to Portugal in search of something better, partly because of Bolsonaro, and the fact that I left Portugal does not mean that the Brazilians who moved to Portugal were wrong or unwise. Too often the choices we are faced with are several ****ty ones, and we have to make do with whatever is less bad. Even if the less bad is a bunch of easily hate-able klepto/technocrats.

That's a really old laptop. Also seems odd that it is marked with a really obvious sticker.

If olive oil and hair grease production count, I'm going to include Portugal, Spain and Italy too. Yes, I realize Greece produces actual crude oil.

2032 will actually be slightly warmer.

Ukraine Conflict - Der Weg zurück
That is very incomplete. It is missing Norway, Iran, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Brazil, almost the entirety of Africa.

I actually found it just 5 minutes ago. Thanks, though.

Where have you seen this? I'm trying and failing to find this being reported. In any case, if true, even just the fact that Russia has taken this long to achieve air superiority seems laughable to me.

Xard, Kirottu and Musopticon are the original Finns. Only Kirottu remains.

Gromnir posted about her before. As I recall he had gushing praise for her, even if she wasn't his first choice.

As far as assymetric war is concerned, I guess the Ukrainians can throw up a fight, but they won't exactly be the Mujaheddin fighting in very rugged terrain with Rambo's infinite ammo helping out. The rain in Ukraine falls mainly in the plain because that is almost the entire terrain.

I imagine Finland will only be at risk with Russia once the Baltic states have gone down. But I think they should join NATO anyway.

Ukraine conflict - im Westen nichts Neues
The point of the sanctions here is not how much they will affect the Russian economy at large (breaking news: poor people will bear the brunt of the damage), but how much they will affect Russian oligarchs and the corrupt money flows that Putin is dependent on. It appears like this quite the gamble Putin is taking here, and I have no idea how long Putin can just ride it out. Also, given that Putin is waving around the nuclear cudgel while his rationality is reasonably being put into question, I can see why the US and Europe are taking the meek approach, as much as it annoys me that the Ukrainians are getting screwed over while the world stands and watches.

Putin is clearly not a rational actor. Any analysis predicated on the idea that he is rational is going to be more or less wrong. If I understand the situation correctly, given the weight of the sanctions, he is risking internal Russian stability, sooner or later.
