  1. You went through the trouble of spreading all your games on a table, so you could get a picture that looks like something I have cooked for dinner? And no pic from me, since my phone is from stone age and I don't have a camera. I could take a screenshot of my steam, but... why? Actually, that was the first time I used my webcam to take a picture. I had no idea it would be this bad.
  2. Greystoke, you bloody kids.
  3. I'm moving to a new place at end of the year, and packing is, of course part of that ordeal. This, of course, provides an opportunity for taking a picture of a selection of my games, before they get stuffed in a box. Warning: the picture was taking with a crap webcam, and as such, it's kind of hard to tell anything. Like, for example, that there's a CD version of the first System Shock sitting at the front. :D Post pictures of your games, why don't you.

That's because Maiden has nothing on anyone.
  5. It will be Fallout 3 without guns. And I'm not kidding. It will Oblivion with the changes Fallout 3 brought to Oblivion. Except for VATS, I guess.
  6. Haven't you heard? Aircraft carriers are obsolete tech, since WWII.
  7. My Portuguese allows me to derive much more enjoyment from these posts.
  8. The links for those studies are dead. Also, this statement on that opinion piece you linked to is dead. Furthermore, this is a pretty huge margin of error, and I have no clue how they reached that figure of 18 fewer murders per execution. Is there a scientifically well defined pool of potential murders that are deterred against by various factors? What?

My girlfriend's 3 year old son agrees on the song's awesomeness. Destined to be a metalhead! \\m// (>.

    Forking awesome.
  11. Games have been heavily pirated since the Spectrum and C64 days. At least. If something is available for free, a huge amount of people will get it for free. It's probably some sort of law of economics.
  12. That's a great name you Belgian nutter.
  13. I think game publishers should use a picture of Bobby Kotick staring obssessively at, and appealing personally to the pirates in order to get all their lost sales.
  14. I've tried Gish, Puzzle Agent, and Recettear so far. I found Gish kind of meh mostly due to crap controls (jumping seems to be terrible), Puzzle Agent has a game stopping bug with all 4XX NVidia cards that has yet to be fixed, and Recettear's confirm key stopped working after 20 minutes of playing. Not getting my money's worth here.
  15. I bought the indie pack for 5 bucks. Because my backlog just wasn't huge enough.
  16. So that's an October of difference? Or two Februaries?
  17. Obviously.
  18. That combined with: brings the PC sales to a respectable 415,000 units. Nice. On the digital side that's just Steam sales, isn't it? Which means digital sales numbers are even better than that. Which means maybe the 360 version isn't the best selling version.
  19. ASUS P5QL PRO Intel Core Duo 2 E7400 4 GB Kingston DDRII667 RAM PNY GeForce GTX460 OC 1Gb GDDR5 Onboard Audio Samsung 80GB 7200RPM Samsung 320GB SATA2 Seagate 1Tb 7200 RPM S-ATA2 32Mb Samsung 19" 923NW Gamepad XFX XGear Dual Reflex New graphics card. Not really a necessary upgrade, but I'm going to use my old 9800GT to build a media center box for my Dad. Also, the new card only set me back 160
  20. Like I noted, that's not my point. It's not an excuse, it's what happens. It shouldn't happen, ethically speaking, but it does. My point is that current industry business models are partly responsible for piracy. Also, to base the business strategy around the premise that a pirated copy is a lost sale is idiotic when many pirates literally don't have the income necessary to buy a game.
  21. You are thinking of Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor.
  22. If an Eastern European gamer making, say, $400 a month, buys a $1000 PC, he will probably be doing so through a small loan paid over 2 years with an interest rate of at least 20%. Which means that he will be paying at first, some 50$ out of his monthly income in the first year. Now, it's not unreasonable to suppose that this gamer will spend $300 a month in various expenses, including rent, food, phone, gas, electricity, water and transportation. Now, how does this gamer play games on his $1000 PC? He pirates them. Now, I said Eastern European, but I could have said South American, Southeast Asian, or Southern European. These are huge markets and games simply aren't priced to be sold there at all.
