Hmmm ... *contemplates playing BG2 with a Paladin ... * <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really can't stress how great that Dungeon-Be-Gone mod is. As soon as you get out of your cell a little dude pops up who will whisk you to the exit of the dungeon, picking up all the XP and gear you would have got from trudging through it yourself. So if you ever think "I'd rather just start out in Athkatla," you should probably pick it up. Pocket Plane hosts it.

Nope, not too cool. Although at some shows, I'd wish for them (Dalek, I'm looking at you). Here's a cool bonus: I'm totally forgiven for moving a little slow at work today, because it turns out my boss no. 2 is a Social D fan! I see you're on a Stereophonics kick, Kor. I'm a pretty big fan of their Performance and ****tails album, which has Pick a Part That's New, Hurry Up and Wait, The Bartender and the Thief and many more great alt-rockers. And props for the Phantom, Draken. I used to be totally gay for the Phantom soundtrack. Ah, who am I kidding, I still am. Silently the senses abandon their defenses, helpless to resist the notes I write The power of the music of the night

Dammit, I need to rent TYFS. Maybe the library has it. I read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed it, and I've heard nothing but good about the film, so I really need to make some time to watch it.

Show rocked. They were loud as hell, and my head is gonna hurt tomorrow. Supersuckers opened, they were tight. They played the three songs of theirs that I knew, including the Willie Nelson cover, so I was happy. then Social D came on a little after 10 and rocked everyone's faces to the back of the theater. Pretty good mix of songs from all their albums, with the Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell songs getting the most play and the band playing one new song called "Bakersfield," about a city in California where Mike Ness says "fun goes to die." They opened with a short, rippin' instrumental then went right into "Bad Luck." I won't tell what they closed with, cause Laozi's still going to see them, but it was an expected showstopper. All in all two very tired thumbs up. Edit: Again, YouTube rules for finding me one of hte most memorable songs from the Supersuckers set.

Some mods, I guess. I'm most interested in new characters (to heighten the replay value, ya know), and I've been really, really impressed with Kelsey so far. Also tried Sarileth but quickly dropped her for being a drama queen. Next playthrough I might give some other user-created NPCs a chance. I've downloaded Tashia and Amber but haven't used them yet. I've also got the banter pack installed and my favorite mod of them all, Dungeon-Be-Gone!

BG2! Just finished the ranger stronghold quests, recovering my ranger status along the way. Those area effect spells can really take a bite out of your reputation when innocent passersby are around...

mmmmm.... I got a little wiiiiiiiiiiine I got a little tiiiiiiiiiiime If there's one (deserved) knock on the illustrious Mr. Dulli, it's that he holds out those i's a LOT. I mean, there's probably 10 Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers songs I could name in which he entreats some female to go for a "riiiiiiiiiiiiiiide" with him. I love it every time, but sheesh. Social Distortion - Angel's Wings This time tomorrow, I'm gonna be jockeying for a front row view of Mike Ness as he plugs in and prepares to bring the rock. Don't worry, I'll let all you bastards know how the show was.

Well, meta, we can't have that now can we... And speaking of kegs, we were making our way through one when this was taken. I don't know if I was trying to wink or pulling a momentary Thom Yorke, but I do know that our picture of Richard Dean Anderson is barely visible on the mantle. It actually was in the house when we moved in. When people asked us "Why do you have a picture of MacGyver on your mantle?" we'd tell them he actually lived in that house, while attending college there. The more gullible folks that passed through usually believed it, and probably told their friends the next morning about that sweet party they went to in MacGyver's old house. At least that's what we were going for.

Morrissey - Seasick, Yet Still Docked I don't think I'm gonna make it through this song. I'm gonna have to change it before I get depressed. The New Pornographers - Letter from an Occupant Now THAT's better!

Well, that shore is a good sarsparilla ya got there. But you see, sometimes there's a man... and sometimes there's a man. Like the Dude. In Los Angeles.

Nice pick! This whole page of music rocks, actually. (Yes, even the Manson song. It's one of the few of his I can tolerate.) Anyway, I'm listening to Thin Lizzy's "Dancing in the Moonlight." Edit: 'cause I found a YouTube link. That site is the best thing to happen to the Internet since Mr. T Ate My Balls.

Rufus is great, but his version of Hallelujah just sounds phoned in compared to Buckley's. If I had never heard the Buckley version, just like those billions of people who first heard the song in Shrek, I probably would think the RW version was fantastic. However, that wasn't how it went down. Rufus' dad, Loudon Wainwright III, is a great singer-songwriter in his own right, actually. He used to be on the BBC all the time doing clever, funny songs. He wrote a song fairly soon after Rufus was born called "Rufus is a Tit Man" that basically talked about how much his son enjoyed breastfeeding. So he figured when his son grew up, Rufus would prefer the T to the A, so to speak. Of course, the smashing irony here is that Rufus turned out to be absolutely gay. Ryan Adams and the Cardinals - Sweet Illusions Edit: I also heard the Buckley version before Cohen's original. I gotta say, the original completely underwhelmed me. But then, it's Cohen. He's a great poet and writer, but the delivery is a bit lacking. And now it's Crowded House - Distant Sun

Not according to the latest Forbes list. They've got you burghermeisters sobered up to #8. Me? Here and there. By "here" I mean California, the golden land of promise. 'Cept the promises are less reliable than sunshine here in the pyrite land of illusion. At least it never rains. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That list has Cleveland at no. 7, and Columbus at no. 3. Ohioans sure know how to drink. :Eldar's patented "toast" icon: I should look to see if Youngstown is still one of the nation's leaders in murders... Edit: and Cincinnati at no. 16! Three cities in the top 20, that's what perennially losing pro teams will do to you, I guess.

Ah, the song that took my Metalli-love to another level. Before that, all I'd heard was the same four songs off the Black Album, played over and over by the older kids in the weight room. As it is, probably haven't listened to it in years. Tony Xenos - Courier Text Reply
