  1. Actually I was sorta stunned. I wasn't looking in his direction so he rolled a critical hit. The upon realizing it was in fact a critical miss, he disappeared into the crowd so fast you'd think he does it for a living. @Gorgon: I'm not that good looking, and I'd happily exchange all the male attention for a busty blonde or two. I can pass all the gay guy's numbers I get to you though if you want to get all Scandinavian on them.
  2. Actually I know you're joking but I've probably had more experience with gay men than most heterosexual people. From a guy walking straight up to me and kissing me in a club, to "offers" of all sorts. Unpleasant all of it, like any unwanted attention, but nothing to lose sleep over. Its the pseudo "pro-gay" politics that piss me off.
  3. They'll catch up to you in Blessed Europe soon enough. I wouldn't wish that, even on the US. Europe has a habit of smearing feces on everything worthwhile it creates and calling it progress. The whole gay agenda is just another symptom of the general lack of unifying ideas and leadership that lead to self destructive behavior towards any and all (formerly) stable pillars of society: church, marriage, national identity etc. When its all finally fragmented and/or destroyed and everyone reduced down to atomized individuals and their "lifestyle" choices, that will be the end of organized political opposition to anything.
  4. Don't know about that, Botswana has around 2 million people and 55+million head of cattle. I think they're a local breed.
  5. I have to agree, while the original was alright, I was very disappointed with the sequel. I have high expectations for Legends of Dawn, when I know I shouldn't, especially with the constant delays. I enjoyed TW2. I thought they improved on almost aspect of the first one. Plus I enjoyed the way you could really create your own spells and potions. But the one thing that did annoy me a little was the first continent was clearly an African theme and you had these normally docile animals that would never attack a human suddenly attacking you on sight. Like ostriches and baboons Baboons aren't necessarily docile? They can be pretty dangerous, but I guess its due to people spoiling them in reserves/national parks. And ostriches can be fiercely territorial as well. That's something I picked up while living in Botswana. Of course they are, like almost all other animals, likely to run away from a human. Its the same in pseudo European RPG's. Wolf attacks are practically unheard of, but they're the standard "ding, level up" material at low levels. Boar attacks aren't even worth discussing. I wish that game designers would design their worlds with more consistency, what's the problem with having regular animals for flavor in appropriate areas and aggressive fantasy creatures as xp bags.
  6. No surprise there, most CoH units manage themselves as long as they're in cover and you're never going to work with as many of them as in SCII. And they don't die by the hundred in a second because you moved them an inch too close to something on the map.
  7. In all honesty the game will stay off my radar unless there's a unanimous verdict that the game is even more like BGII than the first DA. I estimate the chances of that happening at 0.03%. I don't want to play a fantasy Mass Effect. And I'll judge the Witcher 3 by the same criteria.
  8. They really must bundle this game with vaseline. It'll hurt less that way.
  9. Well its been an ordeal but I seem to have profited from it. My 1GB Sapphire 7850 arrived a week ago and I immediately noticed that the rubber insulation over the fan power cable was torn. The manufacturer's box was so tight (no styrofoam, only insulation baggie and cardboard) and it appears that the card was pressed against the DVI converter in the box, chafing until the cable got damaged to the point of exposing the wire. I immediately called and had it returned and its replacement arrived today. To my surprise I got an MSI 2GB 7850 in the mail. I assume they didn't have Sapphire's version so they upgraded me free of charge. The card comes in much better packaging, and appears to be in perfect condition. One small gripe is that it has one fan, instead of Sapphire's two but I'm not complaining, I just hope it works properly.
  10. I'm playing a game of "Memorize the 500 page book for the upcoming exam", so you'll see me in three weeks when I slay the final boss or die trying. Until then, ta-ta /Battlefield control terminated
  11. That's what I said. Interesting perspective overall though.
  12. But Drowsy its irrelevant if the majority of the Iranians want to get nuclear technology( and I question if this is what the average Iranian actually wants considering all the issues around it) Nuclear technologies become a global issue and we live in a global world. The global community doesn't want Iran to go this route so its not going to happen. You need to accept this to avoid major disappointment later Lok Bruce, you need to stop speaking doublespeak.
  13. I came to the very end of my Beyond Good and Evil play through (right before the final boss fights) and one of my companions disappeared and the other one either won't trigger a crucial elevator button properly. Apparently its a known game breaking bug. Not being used to these things on the PS2 I kept only one save all the while. Now I can't complete the game and all my effort was ruined.
  14. While ME was far from cutting edge, I will agree that the difference in design quality between the two franchises (ME and DA) is quite noticeable. Did they use the same engine for both series? (Unreal Engine?) Notice I said "design", meaning artistic design, not commenting on the tech itself (which looked better than DA regardless).
  15. I don't see the majority of the Iranian people against the nuclear program, do you? North Korea already has some functioning nuclear weapons so where are those consequences? Sanctions? Isolation? Finally, with the constant threats the Sunni states and Israel make against Iran I fail to see how the nuclear program is unnecessary. Its their only real guarantee against foreign intervention. They would be stupid not to build it asap.
  16. What's your position on nuclear proliferation then? Seems hypocritical not to allow Iran to have a nuclear program when Israel has one. Same applies to North Korea naturally. NK is a minor actor, they don't need nuclear weapons when China has them. The Middle East does definitely need to be stabilized but I'd much rather Turkey or Egypt sat with the nukes than Iran. NK is minor but they're not China and should not have to depend on Chinese protection. Why would they do that? And why is that a reason for them not to have nuclear weapons? How would a nuclear Turkey/Egypt stabilize the middle east when they're not really a threat to Israel? Strong words are thrown about from time to time, but the real conflict is Israel & Sunni states vs (separatelty, obviously) Iran. Only a nuclear Iran would bring that conflict to a stalemate, but even that wouldn't guarantee peace for the rest of the unstable countries.
  17. Regardless the whole point of the weapon is not in its use. The hypothetical scenario where it would be given to a covert group and set off without implicating its original owner, is just a fantasy. In regards to nukes, everyone knows everything - the moment one is set off the whole world would know who did it, and they wouldn't be happy about it. As was already said, its a defensive weapon, a guarantee really that a nuclear power can't wage war on you without fear of reprisal. Iran needs it in the same way NK needs it, as the ultimate trump card against a possible intervention. And for those purposes, there are no grounds on which it can be denied. The discussion is moot of course. If they can develop it, they will, of course, and they should. Any country is fully within its rights to defend its independence to the fullest extent. From what I understand the former nuclear program Iran had was destroyed or set back by Israeli air strikes, the current one is buried too deep underground for airstrikes to work dependably. Hence the covert ops to destroy it from the inside. But really its a matter of time, an attack on Iran is obviously beyond the capabilities/political will of the west or they would have already done it. So the building of a nuclear weapon is not a queston of if, but when. As for the warhead delivery system, I don't believe Iran is particularly advanced in that regard. But they don't need to be, all they need is to be able to hit Israel reliably to force a stalemate.
  18. I wonder what's wrong with the people behind DA's graphics. They looked a generation behind everything else. CDP's modified Aurora engine looked equivalent or better than DA (without even going into its superior design). Comparisons between TW2 and DA2 aren't even worth going into. You have the ME team on one hand doing a great job with graphical design, and the DA team making an game that's arguably uglier than almost any RPG released in the last half of the decade. Even MMO's like Age of Conan make DA look like a fan project. And why the obsession with the washed out reds and browns in the color palette?
  19. I take my hat off to GoG for this sale and for the free Torchlight. I'm hoping to see the W2 on a daily deal for a few bucks less than it is now. I only have 9$ on my card so I'm 0.99 short :D
  20. The US is a major supporter of the terrorist Albanian KLA (and others) so that point is moot and irrelevant.* How would it destabilize the region, please explain? The Israelis and Iranians wouldn't be able to use nuclear weapons against each other, and the Iranians would have nothing to gain and everything to lose by using them against any other major power, or indeed against anyone. *As early as 1998, the U.S. State Department listed the KLA as a terrorist organization financing its operations with money from the international heroin trade and funds supplied from Islamic countries and individuals, including Osama bin Laden. This did not stop the United States from arming and training KLA members in Albania and in the summer of 1998 sending them back into Kosovo to assassinate Serbian mayors, ambush Serbian policemen and intimidate hesitant Kosovo Albanians. http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/BIS111A.html Quote is by former Canadian ambassador to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Albania, James Bisset
  21. The brutal human rights abuses the Kurdish people suffer in Turkey don't count then? Why doesn't the rest of NATO intervene to free the Kurds from Turkish oppression? The situation around the Kurds in Turkey is complicated and its not as clear as the atrocities that Assad has committed against his own people Ah, that's good to know.
  22. I know, I couldn't find the proper model but its the same in all respects. Maybe its just a new revision with a DVI port...
  23. I have an Acer V223W or an equivalent. Its a decent monitor, I got it for 140$ at the time since Acer was giving out promotions and its served me well so far. The only significant difference in quality I've seen is the jump between mid range monitors and the premium ones but the price increase is steep indeed. The best monitor I've ever seen (not that I've seen much) is an Apple one in a local copy store. Its something like 30 inches and the contrasts are incredible.
  24. That game's environments are really ugly. Maybe not ugly, just very much 2003. If all the content for each MMO is stored on every PC why can't they look any better? Doesn't the information the PC needs to use the internet connection for in an MMO amount to just the actions of other players?
