  1. There's certainly more to look forward to now than there has been in years. I'm still waiting to eat that kickstarter pudding though.
  2. Yeah my thoughts exactly. I feel that the Witcher 3 has more potential though, because BW doesn't experiment enough, or at all. Although I generally lost interest in the Witcher series after the first one. I loved it because it was rough around the edges, unabashedly rude and it managed to make me laugh - unlike the McDragon burger "build according to checklist" experience . The second Witcher already looked like a commercialized, Hollywood type experience, I remember rolling my eyes at the soppy romantic scenes in some pool or other. I never played it so the new one will have to go out of its way to convince me that its what I think a Witcher game should be and not trying to be Mass Effect. Drowsy just for record are there any games that have been released in the last 3 years that you have really enjoyed and would recommend? I can't even remember what has been released in the last 3 years so I suppose that's an answer in itself. I did derive some enjoyment from games like Deus Ex HR, the Wings of Liberty campaign, XCOM, Fallout: New Vegas, ME2 but none of that is an unforgettable experience - because they fell flat at some point (most of the time, the ending). When I think of the games I truly enjoyed, the most recent two that pop into my mind are the original Witcher and Mirror's Edge and a few point and click adventures.
  3. Funny how the teenage me would have gushed over the possibilities shown by the W3 trailer. But now that its all out of my head and a part of the game, suddenly there's no more room for imagination and I'm not nearly as enthralled as I should be. The Infinity engine and other isometric games seem to offer a better balance between what you can see and what you should imagine. Itn the same way, when watching Starcraft (one or two, it doesn't matter) I imagine myself what ground combat would be like in a particular battle. It draws me into the universe. Yet all the shooters trying to replicate similar scenarios leave me cold. I can't even play them. I watch Geralt ride a horse in that scene and the only thing I can keep thinking is how Shadow of the Colossus did the same thing but felt infinitely more magical with its great vistas and subtle lighting.
  4. RAM is dirt cheap. I guess you were comparing with XB. Cheap? Do tell where i can buy DDR5 RAM? Oh please, as though the next DDR number is the second coming. Who cares? It won't be too long before whatever the next gen of RAM is called sells for 15$ a pop. And you're not likely to need 8GB of it anytime soon.
  5. Poland blows everyone out of the water when it comes to things Witcher! I'm surprised a movie andor TV series was never made... (FTR, if Poland were to have made a Witcher movie or TV series I'd bet it would have been better than Diplomatic Immunity or Melody Rules) A TV series exists. Now forget I told you that.

  8. Its now a no brainer - if I had the money, PS4 all the way. Cheaper, likely to have better exclusives, games have resale value, no Kinect. Also, the Last Guardian is likely to be released on it.
  9. Yawn. The dark has become like an annoying neighbor, it keeps on coming in to drink that last beer from your fridge and just won't take a hint that its time to leave. Kinda like BW with these storylines. Btw when will they realize this color palette is bad?
  10. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/09/edward-snowden-nsa-whistleblower-surveillance Guy really has donkey balls.
  11. BTW the program doesn't surprise me at all. I presume that everything much of the Internet communication is combed by surveillance algorithms - therefore everything as I already expected it to be. The fact is that US power is eroding slowly and that no amount of electronic surveillance knowledge will help in what is essentially a rising economic and political conflict between it and the new powers on the world stage. Everything about military and economic capabilities of all countries is practically common knowledge now. As for internal applications _ the tighter they crack down on internal strife, which has apparently intensified since Obama was elected - the worse it will get in the long run.
  12. Give that you're a Cuban immigrant, are you really surprised? I would have though that any Cuban would have a pretty good idea of the difference between the official US ideology and its reality simply by knowing anything of Cuban history particularly its treatment by the US.
  13. ^I think I'll hire you when I'm too lazy to type.
  14. I agree, except I don't think its on the road to becoming a legit art form. But that's another discussion entirely. But beauty is definitely abused for everything, from selling coffee to bubble gum. Games are nowhere near the blatant exploitation of the female (and male) form just about every company practices. Some of the aberrations that this creates, that I've personally witnessed are for example teenage girls pestering their parents to get them implants for their 18th birthday... because they've been brainwashed to the point that they think they need them to be pretty. But that's capitalism for you. There's a product for the sucker that's born every minute.
  15. If you say so, I can't comment on it apart from the marketing and the reviews I've read. Both of which have done a good job of turning me off from the game.
  16. I never planet bust either. I usually win before they show up. Or pummel anyone who starts building one. Yay for infiltration!
  17. How the **** did he rack up a thousand hours in FNV. Or even... why? Jesus Christ, what is he doing, playtesting these games? How did he even find the time????
  18. You'll see the "twists" that come later.
  19. This is without a doubt the worst thing I've ever seen parading around as a protip. Then I guess the Illiad is crap as well? Because its both predictable and sensible in the specific context of an epic tragedy, something Martin didn't grasp before he caught an acute case of scribomania.
  20. Its really depressing that anyone here thinks Martin's books are good literature in any way, even among the admittedly very low standards of epic fantasy. Is this a joke? You seriously think Martin's writing is advanced? Rare?
  21. Martin is actually quite easy to understand. Just think what the most horrible outcome would be and he's 95% likely to pick it. The only reason the Starks had to die was because they were the only good guys - in other words to make the readers feel bad, because they're the only characters they could relate to. He probably has no idea where the story is going, dumping characters and making them up as he goes along. Protip: that's not how one writes an epic tale. Epic tales have continuity leading up to a predictable but sensible conclusion.
