Mystery serial killer strikes in France
Drowsy Emperor replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
So its an arab. So much for the "right wingers are guilty of everything theory". -
I'm just waiting for the inevitable failure of a hotly anticipated kickstarter title to drive the whole system into the ground. Since Schafer everyone and their grandmother is starting a title on it, whether anyone needs it or not. I don't think a system based mostly on trust and good will cannot function like that for an extended period of time.

I like it.

I'm 25 and my back already hurts from sitting at the PC all day long. I have a decent chair and I do try to keep proper positioning while sitting, and yet nothing seems to help. How do the rest of you deal with it?

Future of the Dragon Age franchise

So do I, but I don't see a reason why I can't poke fun at their rather clear faws There is a difference between the ironic "haw haw, I don't know what they were thinking" and the "they have violated everything good and holy and I wish they would be erased from existence" that tends to come from certain hamster. At this point I'm just pouring oil on the fire for the heck of it - the last BW game I played was ME2 and its going to stay that way in the foreseeable future. I'm not really concerned what they're doing at all - but I do have a reputation to uphold. -

How badly does this series need to fail not to get a sequel? Because I'd rather not see that uninspired setting again. -
That's actually interesting.

There are road cameras in France no? Somebody might see a license plate eventually. The police might show up in time, etc. That's if it even is the same guy, might be another from the same organization or unrelated entirely. It is weird though. -

Those are the most obvious conclusions. His method is careless, I don't think it'll take long before he's caught. -
Daedalic's TBA adventure some pretty nice screens there, lovers of fantasy art should check it out http://www.daedalic.de/en/game/DSA_Satinavs_Ketten#2

I'm irritated with the whole "treating ME3 as failed art because of its crappy ending" approach. The whole ME series has no artistic quality except excellent (visual) location and character design. Its neither the best narrative in RPG's, nor the best characters, nor the best music, nor the best action in the third person action genre. It never passes beyond "very good" at most in any of these segments. These outraged fans fail to realise that the story ME's had going couldn't be given purpose by any ending, as it was never going to go beyond blockbuster conventions. It wasn't brave or experimental or original - except in the sense that there are no other AAA sci-fi RPG's. That the endings are worse than they could be is evident, but seriously, what were they going to do with better ones, crown the trilogy the best thing since pre sliced bread? Hah! If that's the case we're suffering a serious drop in standards and expectations. At the same time PST, BGII and the rest turn in their grave.

Is it too much to hope that they bury this yawn inducing universe and try any of the dozens of established (and better) sci-fi IP's.

From what I understand ME3 has tons of choices and one consequence. -

Why not, Karzai's government and the US aren't hostile to one another. The US should definitely cut Karzai's throat before leaving, when they do. How can they be hostile to their own puppet government? -
My gf is playing Book of Unwritten Tales while I watch. It seems like a very good P&C adventure. The so called "dead" genre might be one of the strongest ones on the PC at the moment, there are so many adventures coming out...

Exactly how I feel. Its not that I didn't enjoy playing the rest of their games, its just that they were like most other games - play, uninstall, forget. Not their fault you have unrealistic expectations. It is and it isn't and that's the most diplomatic reply you're going to get. Some other developers did manage to meet them (my expectations) later, so its not all about my "impossibly" high standards. -
Bah, most of the stuff they say is just to define a position different from other candidates, to hook a certain type of voter in. The actual likelihood of most of that stuff getting implemented is almost non existent.

You have to love these people. At this point I'd even be happy with just the game combined with the most popular mods and an easy way to toggle others. Larger dialogue font and dependable high resolution support + cleaning out the last few bugs. I think the backgrounds are mostly fine, but the character sprites could be improved, because they tend to look very similar at high resolutions (and hard to click on because they're so small). A couple of interface improvements, to make it smaller and show more of the game world, while retaining the pretty "book" like appearance - obviously implementing BGII's interface in BGI. Also some inventory sorting improvements especially regarding stackable stuff, projectile weapons in particular. Maybe something should be done with the footstep sounds. They're necessary but maybe they should be a bit quieter. Walking speed should be a bit quicker. The necessity of reaching the edge of the screen for travel in every location could be changed in some areas to make the game world more accessible. But really there's very little to "improve" in these games, most of the tedious stuff, or what people call the tedious stuff has become second nature to me over the years.
