Do you actually care what happens
Sugrob replied to GSpotFrenzy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not really. KotOR 2 is a new story, and, frankly, I'm kind of sick of all the Revan/Bastila... 'love story' (soap operas come to mind...). Bastila failed to make an interesting character (I said character, not body curves and voice), and Revan is too 'KotOR 1' to maintain interest in KotOR 2 for me. The same would go for most other characters. I would be more interested to see a new story rather than be reminded of what I played 6-12 months ago. But that's me. I guess there're more... 'impressionable' people around. -
Do you want the Xbox version also pushed back?

Different Video output systems NTSC versus PAL and some minor ones meaning the International versions have to be adapted/optimised for these systems. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, guys (/gal). -

Take on indifference... it takes none to just sit there with a dumb look on your face. -

As a sidenote, could someone explain how the US XPox version is different from any other English-speaking-country XPox version? -
As is also mentioned above, they realized their ****up, and ammended and said that Winter 2004 extends to Feb. 2005 (Fiscal year). This makes not a bit of sense from any marketing standpoint, as a fiscal year means nothing to anyone outside of business/retail. C'mon Lucasarts....do you really think we're that stupid? <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^^^We've been lied to since E3 by Lucasarts.....and depending on who made the trailer Obsidian too. This really, really sucks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why are you so convinced that you've been lied to? As I said in another thread, there're numerous possibilities why the PC version could be delayed. It isn't lying in my book. /flips through his book to make sure Nope, definately not 'lying'.

No. 1 sounds like great fun to me.

Just steer clear of the KotOR 2 forums/threads and you'll do fine. That's what I did about KotOR. Hah, if you'd have ever went shopping with a g/f as mine you would've learned this enormous patience I have. And that release date wasn't much of a lie. It was more of a mistake in estimation, I believe, and wasn't at all intentional. Why get all worked up about it? Everyone makes mistakes. Just take a deep breath, make a sigh, and find some other entertainment in the meantime. -

Umm, could you help me out? I kind of fail to see the point there. Are you trying to say that, because the KotOR 2's PC version isn't ready, the XPox owners must miss out on KotOR 2, as well? Am I right? If so, then I really feel sorry for the society that you grew up in... -

Why do you have to be so stubborn?! Heh, the XPox version is ready for release, so why do you want the XPox owners to drown in their own drool for another two months just because the PC version isn't ready? -

Sugrob replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
So what kind of fairness are you proposing? Let's just screw the XPox owners over just because the PC gamers can't play the game at the same time? Sure, the spoilers floating around for two months aren't the best of entertainment, but try being fair yourself. Why do you want other people to miss out just because the game for your platform isn't ready yet?... -

Sugrob replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not true. You need to get a little grasp of game development process to understand, but, put shortly, what works on one set of hardware and software (XPox) might (and will, in most cases) find incompatibilities on a different set (PC). And there are limitless configurations of the latter, as I've already stated in one of my previous posts. -

Heh, there're always possibilities of something unexpected to happen. A dev got drunk celebrating the game's would-be soon release and spilled his martini over a rig... Repeatedly... On a regular basis... Or someone was simply wrong with the initial estimations. Or a serious bug they weren't expecting crept up at the last minute. It's life. It's full of these little surprises. You know, stuff happens. One clumsy move and you're a father... ^_^ -

Then there must be some nasty bugs still popping up in the PC version that the dev team needs time to fix. Would you really want to play KotOR 2 bugged to hell just because you're envy of XPox owners getting the game first? As I said in a few threads already, game development is much more difficult for the PC's than for consoles due to there being limitless different configurations of PC's, while console hardware is static. Besides, do you really believe someone would postpone the PC version's release simply out of evil spite? Trust me, they'd have profitted much more if both versions were released around Christmas. -

Sugrob replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If I remember correctly, the initial release date for both versions was somewhere in Feb 2005. So XPox version coming out earlier changes nothing for the PC gamers, - we're still getting it in Feb 2005. So I don't see a problem there. -

No. I wish I could find the right way to insult you so that your brain's set back in place. And no, I don't own an XPox, and not going to get one. -
An easy way to win in any lightsaber battle...
Sugrob replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Okkaaay... I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm sparring lightsabers with someone. -
Well, I could only see ignorant and bluntly stupid people get angry at that fact. As I said in two other threads (KotOR 2 General Discussion), the release dates have nothing to do with MS trying to establish a world-wide rule of terror. The reason is that debugging process is much easier for the consoles, because the consoles' specs are static, while there are endless variations of PC configurations out there. So the XPox's version probably needed less work, that's why it's being released earlier. Or did you expect LA/Obsidian actually hold off the XPox version's release until the PC version is finished? There're many employees in those companies that need to eat, you know. It's simply the XPox version that's being released earlier, not PC version being postponed. So save your wrath for the world's governments making their citizens slaves for upholding their rotten existance instead. ^_^

Water or tea do fine for me. What the?!... Did I make that rhyme?

Umm, and what does XPox version of TSL being released in December has to do with original trilogy DVD set? As well, what is the atrocity you're talking about? [end subtle sarcasm]

Speak for yourself. Heh, just kidding... Partially.

I haven't read that thread (it was too long to read it all), but if it was what you describe, then they were right in deleting that stupid piece of immatuirty. As they'd be right if they deleted this thread. Yes, I know I sound bitter, but that's what I think about the matter.

KOtoRII Release dates anouceed
Sugrob replied to Lightsaber430's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think it has anything to do with MS's conspiracy of establishing a world-wide reign of terror. It's more to do with the fact that the games are generally easier to make for the consoles than for PC's. That's because the consoles' specs are static, while there are endless different PC configurations, which makes it a long and difficult process of trying to make the game more stable and bug-free on as many PC's as possible. So don't blame LA or Obsidian for the harsh reality. Psst... but you can blame MS all you want, I don't mind. -
No, why would I? I know quite well that development for a console is far easier than for PC's, so KotOR 2 coming out for XPox first is of no surprise to me. I have patience.

Ability to block/dodge a lightsaber throw?
Sugrob replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Although I think that force power should stay in the game(s), its accuracy must be affected by either the target's saving throw (reflex) or Defence Rating. Both - the successful saving throw and a dodge (Defence Rating) should negate the damage completely. Why completely? Because the 'thrower' doesn't have enough time to alter the lightsaber's flight tragectory in just one round (yes, it is a game), so if you manage to avoid the lightsaber on its initial approach you're clear. Personally, I prefer the reflex save, as we don't see a lot of cortosis-reenforced armour suits. As well, in that case, devs could finally make better use of the Uncanny Dodge feat (of the classes that'll have it) and implement it so that even if the character with the feat fails a reflex save against the thrown lightsaber they take only half damage (yes, sort of like Improved Evasion feat of NWN). Not many characters have this feat (only Scout class in KotOR), so that wouldn't make it unbalanced. Hmm, me likey. -
Nnnnoooooooooo!!!... They'll be making a SW TV series!! R.I.P., Star Wars...
