  1. Um no, no it really doesn't. Are they aiming for a PG rating or an R18 or what? If it's intended to be family friendly gore'll be out. I guess they could still include lesbian kissing though with a PG rating. Not that I'm suggesting it merely going off on a tangent - there was a bit of a controversy here a while ago. DS1 had gore settings as I recall, no blood, red blood and green blood. Nothing radical but you could enable it if you wanted to. Not sure about DS2, I'm thinking not but can't recall. I don't remember the green blood setting for DS2, but I think there was a way to turn it off if one wanted too. To be honest, I don't really care about blood or no blood as long as the combat looks good =P
  2. Thanks for the quote rafoca. Yes, they're not sure about it - and on these forums devs have said that we shouldn't believe everything he hear abuot co-op until they clarify it sometime (when they can). My best bet is that there would be two modes of co-op; first is pretty much a "LAN-ish" co-op where it's really the host's game, it stays on the hosts's computer, and other people can jump in and play at whatever level. So you know, it's really good if you're just over to a friend's place, he's halfway through the game, and you want to jump in and play a little bit. In other games you'd have to start a whole new game together, then save it, then probably abandon it. But then I'm also confident there'd be another, 'online-ish' co-op where it works normally (it's tied to character not game, you have your own character with its own loot, xp, etc). Of course, all that is just guessing, we will see. I would have to agree with this... So many games allow people to use their own characters, it wouldn't make sense to not have a multiplayer mode that allows this... Especially in an RPG. I'll be looking forward to seeing all the different multiplayer modes when they are announced. =)
  3. Robots? Parts of the Dungeon Siege world is Steampunk. And it has been some years since the last installment. Mmm hmm... Dungeon Siege had goblins with robots in it too. I'm actually pretty glad to hear that they are re-introducing them in the third game. Hopefully we will see the Droog also. =)
  4. Ugh... I don't even want to think about that movie... I do understand the way you feel, though. I felt the same way at first, too. Eh... You can't look at it like a dungeon siege game, though. Think of Champions of Norath... Nothing like Everquest, other than it's name in the title, and the area it's set in. That's the way I see this game, too. It isn't the game I know, it just looks like a different kind of game set in the same universe (that's the impression I get at least). =) To be honest I can understand why they chose to go this rout, though... A lot of people who are keeping tabs on this game haven't even played the first two games. The market is definitely geared more towards newer gamers, which is the way they should go if they want to make money I think. =P That being said, maybe this will open doors later on down the road for a 4th game based more in the traditional style of dungeon siege. =)
  5. "The game is looking awesome. Thanks goes to @Astro Gaming for the A30s to power the audio of the event!" "Some very pretty Dungeon Siege III decor." "Set-up continues... That's a lot of Dungeon Siege III!!" Well hell, if glowing naked butt doesn't sell copies, nothing will! Also, notice the crows on the cover of the box?! The crow mystery continues... Dun dun dun...
  6. Choo choo, you missed the sarcasm train. Eh... I can see why he thought that I was serious. There are a lot of people out there like that.... Which is why I was making fun, hehe. I will admit... Being a Dungeon Siege fan, I was a little apprehensive about the new combat system. From what I've read about the game so far, however, I'm looking forward to the product Obsidian is working on. Hopefully it will be a lot like Baldur's Gate, or Champions of Norrath. =)
  7. "developer Oblivion" Gaming journalism at work. Edit: Oh, c'mon. This preview is hilariously bad. I hope this guy isn't getting paid for what he does...
  8. Creativity?! Pfft.... If it doesn't play like WoW, or isn't a direct WoW clone or rip off, I'm not having any of it! I wish that games would bring in more real world medieval weaponry into RPGs though... How cool would it be to have a combination war hammer/gun? =P
  9. Very awesome... Especially the stained glass effect. =) Although... I might be wrong on this... But, wasn't Azunai the great champion of Aranna?
  10. I wouldn't worry. This is almost certainly possible, because it would make zero sense if you can't, and because only people who say otherwise are going off a rumour from a source that is just as clueless as everyone else. It's as if some random game journalist made up "In Dungeon Siege you can't use swords" and now everybody is worried about it. WE CAN'T USE SWORDS IN DUNGEON SIEGE 3 EVEN?! Worst... Game... Ever.
  11. That's all I'm saying. I loved KotOR 2.... I only wish I knew about it sooner than a few months ago (and that it was multiplayer).
  12. Cross classing in DS2 was difficult, but deffinitly possible in DS2 for certain setups. Only problem, though, is that you had to keep changing your weapon/spell after every level. Some of my funnest builds were cross classes... A 50/50 combat/nature mage summoner, for example. Sure, the combat magic pets seem weak at first, but later on you will be glad for the diversity on pet selection (especially if you don't play with henchmen). If you like playing healers, the best healers you can make are melee/nature 50/50 (because of the obscene healing% items you can dual wield with the expansion... Not to mention the fist of stone healing ability). If you like the idea of a mage that uses melee attacks, make a fist of stone and pump his intelligence... Invest in his quake strikes (or whatever it's called... I forget), get dual wield, and get weapons with the most powerful procs you can... Nothing kills faster in DS2 other than this build that I've seen yet. That's one thing I loved about DS2... Lot's of diversity in character building. =) Just takes a little imagination, and willingness to try new stuff.
  13. Not sure about NWN2, but in NWN I've played a lot of player created servers where magic was very well balanced with every other style of play. Leave it to the community to take something unbalanced and fix it.
  14. Eh... That's a pretty broad generalization... Have you ever played Two Worlds? Terrible, terrible game... Unplayable as a mage, too. If you wanted to make any progress, you had to use weapons. Also Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms had very gimped magic, except for the Shaman. If you wanted to play the overpowered character in that game, barbarians were the ones with the never ending criticals for millions of damage... Until the patches for Diablo 2 that added synergies, playing a pure caster wasn't even an option in the end game (Although now, a lot of the caster classes are overpowered. Then again, so is every other class in that game, heh). The very fact that the Archon has a melee stance suggests that staying in the magic casting stance would lead to a very quick death if one was swarmed (or at least that would be my guess). If some thought is put into the combat design, mages can be just as balanced as any class. =)
  15. That we should buy Rebok brand shoes, no doubt. Damn subliminal messages...
  16. Hmmm... Seems like on every trailer or video I've seen, there's crows everywhere. I wonder if there's any kind of significance in that. Like the crebain from the LotR books, and that your hero is always being dreadfully watched by the villain... Or maybe embodying some kind of hidden symbolism or twist in the story that has yet to be revealed until we progress the story line... Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it, and it's just done because the artists think it looks "kewl". I think it's probably the later, and I would have to agree with them as well. Heh. =)
  17. There will be pre-made classes if I am not mistaken. Guardia and Archon Mage are the ones I know of. To be honest, the Archon Mage does look pretty awesome... I like the fact she can change into a fire elemental of sorts (from what I've read)... Reminds me of the transformation spells from the first game (well, after the expansion at least)... only not gimped, heh. It looks to me like the other caster will be a nature mage (judging by the lightning-ish glow coming from his hand off the website). Would be awesome if they brought back the orb spells and maybe the healing/buffing/debuffing spells (for those of us who enjoy playing support chars or might want to have a healer npc in the group). I would love powerful pet spells even more (like in the second game), but I don't think that would ever happen. =P
  18. Very awesome artistic vision... Love the bear especially. =) I noticed in the video, goblins were creatures that would be in game. I love to hear about this, since I'm a DS fan, and it's nice to see creatures from the first game. =) So I was curious... are there more creatures from the other 2 games that will be in this one? If you are able to show us sometime in the future... Maybe some concept art for them? I'd live to see creatures like the Krug, the Mucosa, the Droog, and even the Seck. =)
  19. I agree entirely +1. =) Anything anyone will say (including myself) about the multiplayer will be purely speculative and uninformed until Obsidian decides that it is ready to reveal what it has in mind. Take what people say about the multiplayer lightly. =P
  20. I've pretty much gathered this on other reviews too... This might be changed later, however. Obsidian hasn't commented on their multiplayer plans too much, and the reviewers DID play a pre-alpha version, so multiplayer might not have been in place 100%. My hope is that they will not only allow other players to get EXP in multiplayer, but will also allow players to play as characters they create. As I've said in another post, I think it would be the worst idea ever to limit multiplayer the same way Fable 2 did... Especially on a RPG series that has some of the best multiplayer for the genre (my opinion at least, hehe). No one wants to play as a lackey. =P That being said, however, Obsidian has said from the beginning that they planned on making this a great multiplayer title. Here's hoping they deliver on that. =)
  21. "Our hands-on time with the first two hours of the game revealed an action/RPG that plays like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance with a splash of Mass Effect.", so says the reviewer... That right there is lesser than three, my friends. =) This makes me get my hopes up.
  22. If they keep the multiplayer that way, I think it would be the biggest mistake they could make... All you have to do is look at Fable 2 to see why that would be a bad idea. That game had the single worst multiplayer out of any game I have every played. =P That being said, however, the fact you can have 3 other people in your party is something that I abselutely love to hear... Now if only they allow the ability to play as/build a support class... I love making healers/buffers/debuffers/unconventional builds in that game.
  23. Wow... I absolutely love the scenery... Kind of reminds me of a more detailed version of the first game. I hope it has that same epic feel in gameplay, because that was my favorite thing about the game. I love traveling, so when I wasn't able to go anywhere and cabin fever started setting in, I would just play dungeon siege and immerse myself in the environment. =)
