generally speaking, software has to be written with a-priori intent to take advantage of multiple cores (even dual), at least for any noticeable change in performance. more often than not, the biggest benefit of multiple cores is the ability to run multiple programs since each will get farmed out to a separate processor. some games are written for multiple cores, but certainly none of the games pre-dual-core releases, e.g., baldur's gate 2, were written with multiple cores in mind. taks

uh, that would be bioware, but we get your point. taks

testing here right between the 100 m small/med cal indoor range and the large caliber firing range. no, we aren't doing any shooting, but you can hear them over at camp perry shooting some sort of large caliber weapon and the guys in the small/med cal indoor range were setting off c4 charges yesterday (obviously not indoors). taks

that's how all politicians operate, hardly a surprise. besides, your opinion of what constitutes "bogus" is highly biased by your own beliefs, not unlike those that are supposedly "bashing" obabma. taks

ahhh... so you roleplay yourself? taks

none of which gaurantee sales. the core rules will all be bought by at least one player per group that plays. it would be a foolish business decision to not publish your bread and butter, which means you gotta update every once in a while. taks

nope, though i did eventually get a few things for my nephew. BG did bring D&D back into my life without a doubt. hehe, the few i know that play D&D are actually quite the opposite. hard-core drinkers that i shoot pool with is a better way to look at them. of course, i hardly fit the engineer mold, either. uh, not sure where you've been kelverin, but 3E was definitely much more rational and coherent than any AD&D product prior. whether or not it was better is a much more subjective story, of course (like i said, i liked 2E just because that's what i used to pnp with). taks

uh, they are a business, ya know, right? taks

ayup. the default is icon view and i almost always need the detailed list view for various reasons. taks

i personally found AD&D/2E much more fun than 3E, but i wasn't a DM, either, and didn't care about many of the nits that really broke the system. so what if two rules were contradictory, pick the one you like and use it instead. it's not like there's a gun to my head saying "you must play THIS WAY or DIE!" duh. taks PS: i should add, in my pnp days, which were not very lengthy, and quite a long time ago, i never played high levels, either. i don't recall getting high enough to even cast 5th level spells until playing on a computer.

nevermind... fingered it out. taks

guys, how do you change the domain name with winders vista? mine is set to "workgroup" and i need to change it, or add a new one, so it will work with my office domain. taks

hershey wins more chocolate tasting contests than any chocolate, supposedly. taks

real wrestling is a bit strange to those brought up on the WWE diet. greco-roman is stranger still, and i think that's what they do in the olympics, correct? i used to be a trainer in high school (that meant wrapping ankles, tending wounds, etc.) and got to go to all the wrestling matches. interesting sport. it's not a performance art, there's serious strategy going on with each of the "setups." taks

true, true. actually, i'd go a step more and say you either have creativity or you don't, and you learn to use the ability elsewhere. taks

you still have to have a clot, for which the likelihood is increased dramatically (uh, studies, but that seems to change) with obesity. stress plays a role by decreasing blood flow which increases the likelihood that a smaller chunk of placque will cause a clot. it also increases blood pressure and placque ruptures (which results in a clot). nasty stuff that stress. taks

who's central notion? not mine... at least a few of my games i didn't finish because the "flying C64" incident prevented further play. taks

^kaftan: hehe, this is actually closer to the real-world than you may think. hate to tell you, but when trying to learn, there aren't really any stupid questions. not everyone has the same idea as to what constitutes a "good" question, so this is one of the things you have to put up with in just about any school setting. a high drop-out rate is not necessarily a bad thing, it means they're actually screening out those that can't cut it. how can the idiots be ruining the school's reputation if they are dropping out? this is part of my problem with purely state-funded schooling to begin with. taks

you know what's sad about this is that the pressure his scientology buddies had put him under (to resign) could easily have triggered the stroke. taks

i think they made a game out of folding proteins, actually. uncharted is pretty cool. it's probably the closest thing to a first person shooter that i could ever reasonably get into (it is an FPS, but way different than the typical). i've only seen/played uncharted and the two lego games. taks

i got right there and realized: you never had to drive in DC! ahhh! oh wait, you're a chick. ok. taks

if you want all of your folders the same: open up some folder (any will do), then set up the folder as you wish (toolbars, list/details/icons, etc.), then tools->folder options (gets you to sort of the same place as control panel->folder options), then set up each of the tabs as you wish. under the view tab, hit the "apply to all folders" button to make all folders the same (going through control panel won't allow this button press). taks

agreed, intel has screwed the pooch on the CPU-to-mobo attachment. i am quite certain i broke my current mobo getting the darned thing in place. i NOW know how to do it without hearing all those noises, but only because i suffered the noises in the first place. taks
