wow, countless. and then there's truman's own words at how difficult it really was. your "countless psychological studies" that have no basis other than opinion polls, and essentially amount to cargo cult science, and the words of the only man that's ever actually "pushed the button." it also takes brains to be able to think critically. i wish there were more of that in the world. taks

in here, i'm one of them, but not everywhere. either way, the argument is specious. it's like saying "well, they're already taking away most of your rights, what's the harm in a few more?" there's a point at which you say enough is enough. oh, and btw, it did take a lot of courage, balls if you will, for truman to do what he did. none of us could even begin to imagine the responsibility that comes with having your finger on a trigger that holds in the balance so many lives. it takes courage to evaluate a situation objectively, rationally, in spite of any emotion you might feel toward the situation. to react emotionally could wind up being worse in the long run. taks

wills are simple to write. of course, you also need a government that recognizes your right to give your property to anyone you choose, but that's another, deeper issue. the only reason the marriage issue matters is the perverted notion of unequal rights, i.e., some are more equal than others. taks

great. figures it's not easy to find. i really don't remember where i recall hearing it, btw. sorry. maybe i was dreaming... taks

hm, i moved from FL to CO and didn't have that big of an issue... of course, i grew up in st. louis, which has worse (read: colder) weather than most of TN with equally high (if not higher) humidity throughout the year, and most of CO is considered a desert of some sort or another, which means a very dry cold, which isn't really all that cold if the wind speed is low... yeah, i guess i can see how you'd be hating it. we've had our rather common "spring in january" thing going on so it has been in the 60s. sucks for snow and skiing (colder in the mountains, however), but a nice break otherwise. taks

because of the rampant obama love fest going on? taks

of course, people like me happen to disagree with both of the first two points (income tax and forced education) so i can legitimately claim compulsory service takes away my freedom (i don't, btw). i have no problem with a draft, however, in times of need. now is not a time of need in spite of pleas to the contrary. ww2 was a time of need. people like rangel merely prop this crap up for political reasons. taks

not quite. taks

it is flawed, but the remedy is that it should not be a legally recognized institution, which would remove the debate completely. taks

this is where you show your ignorance. i don't in the least. he's a socialist, that's all. you argue from a point of ignorance more than anyone in here and it is laughable. taks

much better. they just dropped $700B and obama and his merry elves are talking about doubling that... welcome to fantasy island! taks

i'm curious where we're going to "shift the tax burden" to? the top 10% or so already pay 80-90% of the taxes... your entire post is nothing but contradictory ideas, btw. well, except for your 2nd to last line, but the "where it can be afforded" part is telling: nowhere. taks edit: yes, you missed the flame war. it was gearing up to be ugly.

i got to see gorbachev speak at the CTIA/WCNC conference in orlando in 2002. that was once in a lifetime, too. taks

oh, OK. i'm not sorry, btw, samm, and you shouldn't be either. this is the internet: we're all retarded for arguing here. while it is noble of STB to hope for respectful, constructive debate, history has proven that ideal out of reach. taks

uh, what does that first line mean, moat? taks

i simply hope he's a poll-driven president ala bill clinton. if so, then he'll wield the veto pen regularly, unlike bush, and we won't spend ourselves into oblivion... well, other than the oblivion we already have ourselves set up to spend in a soon-to-be failed attempt at "saving" us all. taks

it hurt my eyes as it was, why would you want to do that? taks

he's looking awesomely overweight. i don't feel so bad anymore. taks

just a note, it is cool to cry, as long as it is done in a manly way, when an awesome dude dies. there are no man-point penalties. taks

Tabla Rosa is free until end of February
taks replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Computer and Console
this game never interested me, for whatever reason. oh yeah, i know, i don't feel the need to hang out online with a bunch of pre-teens spewing curse words while playing an MMO of any kind. i can get that in here... ahem. richard garriot was interviewed regarding his departure from and the ultimate failure of tabula rasa, btw. he hinted (uh, openly stated, actually) that he would love to do another single player ultima experience if EA was up to it. soooo, i wouldn't be surprised if we see/hear something like that in the future. taks -
he's mentioned elsewhere, maybe even in this painfully long thread, that he's actually doing it in chapters/modules, so the first bit he's releasing isn't the whole thing. in fact, it might even be within the last few pages. taks

all 4 years at AZ have been solid, actually... he just wasn't given much of a chance by wisenhunt till last year when he blew doors in spite of not being full-time. hell, this is the first year that manning actually lived up to warner's season in NY, which was yet another example of coaches failing to acknowledge what he was capable of. total joke... quite frankly, warner's doing better at AZ in part because he has better receivers, and i wouldn't doubt if manning would do better in AZ than he's doing in NY, too. you simply can't be a good QB (statistically, that is) unless you've got someone that can catch the ball. particularly given that he did have those bad years, and did get the short end of the stick, but managed to come back and live up to his "hype" at 37 anyway. voters look at that as determination, a hallmark of hall of famers. no denying, btw, that i'm a warner fan and have been since trent green got hurt in st. louis all those years ago. martz blew it with warner. plain and simple. taks

a shoe-in for the HOF, yes, but not a shoe-in for first ballot entry, which is what i was getting at. ^hurlshot: um, 11 seasons really isn't all that short. though it's not exactly long, either, it is longer than the average. he did have a few years in which he didn't play much, too. he's probably got 2 seasons left, maybe three depending upon how each of the next 1 or 2 go, which will put him in league with aikman who had only 12 seasons. i think it also depends upon what happens with leinart who has, to date, not shown the ability to be a starting QB (IMO). taks
