well, it's an internet thing... difficult to tell intent. mine was not taking you as seriously as you thought, which isn't obvious from a literal reading of what i wrote, hehe. i actually got your humor, particularly after you went down the class-action path (you don't come across as an ambulance chaser). OMG!!!! IM DYN!!!! SUE!!! jersey? you might want to reconsider that... taks

i doubt salt-air is dangerous. if so, then the millions that live on the coast would potentially be in dire straits. you could taste the salt in the air at night on the coast in florida, as i recall. parking near the beach during rough waters always meant a layer of salt had to be scoured from your windshield before driving. often it was too thick to remove via windshield wipers alone. taks

job related? i did a lot of travel for various jobs over the years, though it has been extremely intermittent, i.e., i'll travel every other week for a few months then nothing for a couple years. i'm actually carrying on an email conversation with one of the guys i used to travel with (he's the marketing part of business development and i was the technical half of the equation) back in the day. hehe, the company he and i worked for, well... there might be a story about to happen with that. taks

my brother (in st. louis) seems to think the blues might actually have a team worthy of rooting for next year. this year is basically over, though they are at least hovering around .500 and won their last 3. hmmm... actually, with 20 games left, they still have a chance at the playoffs since the next 6 teams ahead of them have at most 4 points over the blues, and most have played 1 more game... interesting. taks
  6. i have heard of this game. i think it is also subtitled "brain fart" but commonly referred to as "duhhhhh." actually, i kicked off the one DD that i did (witcher enhanced) at like 1:00 a.m. on a work night so i had no worries when i got to it 18 hours later. taks
  7. i'm wondering if i should get some of the sports games for my son (PS3)... are there any good ones that might be playable by a 5-year old? keep in mind, this is a 5-year old that mastered devil may cry 4 and uncharted in a few hours. taks
  8. hehe, i couldn't agree more. i did love the first, however, but that was more like the old skool bard's tale stuff and none of the idiocy could be implemented back then. taks

immaterial, it is still a large base and a fairly secure one with the sole exception being large, well targeted ICBMs. nobody is really sure how accurate soviet missiles are at this range, either. NORAD is mostly on standby now anyway, but it is still a good target. taks

that all depends upon your point of view. to me, a night like that with none of the three wanting anything from me afterward would be a very good ending. sick AND jaded. taks

if they nuke norad, i'm safe up to the 50 MT thingy. same with schreiver AFB (which is where they run the GPS system from). taks

you ought to have a 3-way tryout (with you in the middle) of sorts. one night, no holds barred, winner take all. explain to them that the most adventurous gets the nod! oh, i'm a sick bastage alright. taks

i've heard you might have to enlist this "free" service repeatedly. no issues with our PS3 yet. my fingers are crossed. taks

self-love can hurt indeed, but it is only physical pain and usually remedies itself within the span of 2 or 3 days. i'm going to aspen tomorrow. a friend has a condo downtown (his family) so he and i and another friend are going up in the a.m. (5 hour drive from here if it is snowing) for a weekend of drinking. we might ski a bit. the friend that owns the condo hasn't skied in years, and the other doesn't. for those that don't know, aspen mountain, aka ajax, is a rather difficult mountain with none of the beginner runs (greens) common at other mountains. it's half steep blue and the other half black (single and double diamond). taks

my cat wants to be outside, too, but not because of other critters outside. no, he wants to go out there and eat the grass so he can throw up on the carpet later. this fact makes it very easy to catch him when he escapes (often, because the 5-year old holds the door open), however, because the mongrel squats down and starts stuffing his face immediately upon reaching the grassy part of the yard. taks

yeah, kinda unavoidable since LotR came first... any and all fantasy that has come since and will come in the future will likely be compared at least in some fashion to it. taks

  23. horror flicks, in general, tend to be pretty bland. i can't remember the last time i was actually frightened by a movie. of course, i don't count the sudden frights they always insert, which really aren't scary as they don't fill the movie with any sense of dread, just a temporary jolt to the senses, IMO. anyway, as a result, my expectations are low and i'm simply looking for a decent story. taks
  24. my wife has no pre-conceived notions about sci-fi one way or another, and she seemingly adores jason statham so i suppose i'd be allowed to watch that movie if i wanted to (i don't, not my cuppa joe that one). she likes sci-fi hit or miss, in fact, though she tends to not like the stupid sci-fi channel movies that, well, anyone with a brain tends to disfavor as well. i'm still waiting for a good time to rent mirrors. it's not something my son would watch (he's not into horror) which means post-9:00 viewing only, and mitch rarely makes it through anything i rent that late. taks
  25. how did i know that was going to come out, eh, citizen? taks
