    Prop 8

if we'd simply drop government sanctioned marriage none of this would matter anyway. taks
  2. you mean in iraq? that's necessarily correct, many things have improved immensely, you just don't hear about it in the media very often. the fundamental difference now, however, is the presence of the terrorist activities, but that is on the decline as well. taks
  3. cincinnati chili? it's a real specific recipe and not just cinammon, but the cinammon was what i didn't like. it's popular in OH so i guess at least some people like it, you included. i would think so on the emulsion. it probably makes the egg cook differently. taks
  4. my problem is that in many cases, i really do enjoy smoking. dunno why. anyway, yup, broke down again last night, got drunk, but shot some decent stick. 9-ball was pretty good and i was on fire in 8-ball but managed to screw up a 4-1 lead and win only 5-4. stupid mistakes ruled those last 4 games, and i almost blew the win anyway. eh, i won. 6 in a row in both 8 and 9. oh, and yes, i'm hungover. oof. we're going out to look at some land today. there's a few 3 acre plots in this "neighborhood" in black forest that i'd love to live on and may actually be able to afford. depends upon what the builder has done with his prices, however. i want a yard dammit! taks
  5. that was certainly something i needed to know. i woke up this morning and wondered to myself "did laozi make poop?" taks
  6. a boeing 707. taks
  7. never finished toee, but combat was definitely a bright spot (in spite of some of the bugs involved). fell wood with wilderness lore is quite a different ballgame, btw. i was surprised. i think i'm doing iwd2 simply because i want something different, and i don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with toee which i have never been able to finish. i did iwd1 not too long ago, all of the nwn2 stuff (still working on soz) and, of course, 2 or 3 romps through the bg series recently as well. i got bored of the witcher (not bad, but tedious like the gothics IMO) and there just isn't much else to play in terms of crpgs (not an nwn1 fan other than hotu). for some reason gromnir, i haven't been able to get into the nw9 class. i dabbled in one of my treks through nwn2, but decided i didn't like it. not sure why. f/wm is defintely my favorite tank path regardless of any other classes i may include. i talk to friends of mine that play pnp solely and it is strange how differently they view their respective choices - more diversity. they want me to join their group as a healer of some sort but i don't have time. taks
  8. well, along with some spices that seem incompatible with chocolate cake, particularly mustard. blech. taks
  9. that's definitely the problem with that build since it's strength really becomes apparent when SoZ is ending. i think you may be correct, at least, maybe you are looking at it right. tanks are seemingly the easiest to build yet i find that i play more with them than any of my spell casting classes. i'm a lot more experimental with tanks and i have found that there really is a diversity in their strengths, and some really do demonstrate a high level of sucktitude. i think my current tank in SoZ is going to stay f/wm. of course, i don't understand wm since it realistically caps at 7 as there are no significant bonuses to be had after that. taks
  10. i still remember the comments over at black isle when this game was released and people made it to the fell wood. "no way, no how, should this map have ever been included!" oh what a pain it was if you didn't have wilderness lore. i do this time. of course, i also have scads of cheating abilities now, too, which i only exploit when the game cheats!* cringe... be glad it doesn't. taks * as with all IE games, the RNG is terminally broken. you'll be in a fight in which you far outclass your opponent and suddenly they score several crits in a row. grrr. CTRL+R, hehe.
  11. bummer dude. stay quit! well, i need to take my own advice. taks
  12. have you ever had cincinnati style chili? cinammon. ugh. it.was.horrible. my mother thought it would be cool to try, but then again, she's also well known for the onion pie that hit the trashcan after one bite from my dad. fortunately, SHE was the one that put the chili down the drain. awful. taks
  13. this is a slightly different scenario than someone smoking every day, all day, for years on end. very, very difficult to quit. i've been both ways and i'd say that i'm currently the part-timer as you describe, and yes, it is easier to quit from this perspective. in general, it does not bother me to not smoke at all. once i get to the bar, however, it's undeniable. 3 hours to go, in fact. to the long-term smoker quitting involves what appears to be a mild cold, but for several months. just went to REI, btw. REI has been a money pit for me this year. backpacking tent, backpack, air-mattresses (two base-camp varieties and one backpacking mattress), rain gear, trail pants, who knows what - the whole freaking store. i'm in there every month, if not every other week. i just got my wife a hydration pack for skiing (online) and went into the store to get her some fleece pants and some socks for me (smartwool light hikers, best socks for skiing that i've ever used). taks
  14. i refuse to look at that recipe. i also refuse to conjure the image of christ on a donkey. taks

btw, mathematical axioms are not laws in the same sense as laws of science. they are self-evident and assumed as starting points, though not provable in and of themselves. contrary to axioms, scientific laws are typically empirically determined. taks

sorry, you are 100% incorrect. the law of gravity is one of many laws of science. you can look the term up on wiki if you'd like (hard to really reference anything else), or search on the web, but taken from the wiki intro: i agree as well, but i also think that krezack does not understand it nearly as well as he professes, and hence, makes these ridiculous statements. taks edit: technically the "law of gravity" is really "newton's universal law of gravitation."
  17. hehr, we helped saddam rise to power in the first place and definitely helped him against the iranians. it will never end, of that i am certain. taks
  18. peer pressure. it's not nearly as bad when you're drinking, either, and drinkers tend to be smokers more often than non-drinkers. i started before my 16th birthday, btw. taks
  19. a strawman is best explained as a different argument than one originally made, presumably one that is easier to attack than the original. it is probably the most common mistake made, either intentionally or unintentionally. the term derives from "constructing a strawman to tear it down" sort of arguments in which the straw argument is indeed refuted, but the original argument is left alone. there are a variety of ways to "construct a strawman." one could, for example, completely mis-characterize what his opponent has said. by doing so, he ends up debating a different argument altogether. another way would be to generalize someone's statement beyond his original intent (which is what awesomeness did, though i think unwittingly). taking something out of context is another strawman argument. strawman. taks
  20. for me, quitting is hardest when i'm drinking. well, friday night is pool night. i play on a drinking team with a pool problem. get the picture? what has helped, though i'm fundamentally against this, is the fact that smoking is outlawed in bars in colorado. this time of year, you have to freeze your arse off to get a smoke, which severely limits the habit. if we were still allowed to smoke inside, i'd probably go through two packs every friday. taks
  21. they're still trying to include every single death over the last several years as a result of the occupation. fudge the numbers as a last resort when the numbers don't fit your beliefs. oh yeah, japan, too. those occupations both took a lot longer. of course, both germany and japan were more of a threat outside their borders than iraq is (they were simply more powerful), so it's not a surprise that they would take longer to calm down. taks
  22. coincidentally, i had wild rice last night for dinner. my wife brought home some dinners (i still haven't figured out the scoop on that) with wild rice in them. my favorite long-grained rice. tough call between wild rice and the shorter grained risotto stuff, which i also love. btw, have you actually ever quit smoking and if so, how much and for how long? the first 24 hours is, if anything, the easiest IMO. i guess your brain still hasn't figured out what's up. it's the next two weeks that are horrendous while your body withdraws from the nicotine, then the mental addiction takes a few months before the anxiety leaves. even after years of being off nicotine, people still report having desires when they smell someone smoking. terrible habit to get into. taks

gravity is a law, along with coulomb's law, ohm's law, etc. these laws are different than mathematical "laws" true, but laws nonetheless. relativity isn't a law, either, it is a theory. these can be looked up anywhere on the web as well as in any textbook on the subject. taks
  24. to hell it wasn't. that one was explained rather well in fact. just because you don't understand the physics doesn't mean it's disinformation. yes, i've read about it. you mean, in other words, they weren't sure how it happened, debated in a scientific manner, then came to a conclusion that fit the evidence as well as science? yes, i hate to tell you, that's how science proceeds. study, learn. they reported what they thought were explosions, none of those people understood nor were they qualified to provide reasonable accounts of the occurences. sigh... do you have any idea what happens when a 757 slams into the side of a building taking out several floors? neither did the occupants. repeat after me: you MUST rule out all plausible explanations in addition to proving your point. eyewitness testimony regarding what they heard is about as unreliable as it gets given their general lack of knowledge of the subject. in order to prove your point, you will also need proof that bombs were placed inside the WTC, a point that doesn't even have evidence, let alone proof. c'mon man. you can't have missed every science class as you were growing up? taks
  25. i hate brown rice. it tastes... wrong. just about every other kind of rice is cool, just not the brown stuff. taks
