Dolphins Ponder What to Do With No 1 Pick

The Fins have so many needs that in an other years a trade down would be a no brainer. But this year the quality really falls off after the 12th pick or so. IMO thir biggest areas of hurt are the O-Line, D-Line and Secondary. Thier offense isn't terrible they just had a ton on season ending injuries early on. They other problem with trading down is there is no one team with a bushel of picks to offer.

Good Riddance

I was really impressed with him in 2006, our pass defense improved dramatically.

In 2007, maybe age caught up with him, he's only 30 so I do not think that's it. He always seemed to make bad decisions, had poor tackling ability, and was constantly be out of position. I think the Chargers figured they could get more production from younger, cheaper players.

Its kind of sad about Kearse, at the time he signed with the Eagles he was my favorite player in the NFL. For two years there he really carried the Eagles D-Line, including the Superbowl year, but all Eagles fans ever did was complain because he wasn't getting through the double and triple teams to put up big sack numers. Two years ago the Birds looked balanced enough on the line for him to really make a difference and he started out really well, 3 sacks in 2 games, but then he had a "freak" injuring, something all too familiar in Philly, and he never was the same. The Eagles tried to renegotiate but Rosenthal wasn't having, so he'll probably ending up signing somewhere else for even less. On the other hand, the Texans have Mario Williams.

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

I don't understand the Jets at all. If you have defensive personnel under contract who look like stars in a 4-3 front (Vilma, Robertson), doesn't it make more sense to actually play a 4-3 front rather than trade these guys for pennies on the dollar and give huge contracts to new guys who fit the 3-4 better?

Oh, and it looks like the World Champions are close to signing journeyman safety Sammy Knight. Old and slow, yes. But he's also cheap, and there's a reason that he has stuck around the league for so long. He'll compete for a starting job, but I see him as an acceptable "floor" at the position-- one that will hopefully be exceeded by the likes of James Butler, Michael Johnson, and/or whoever they bring in at the postiion in the draft.

Its a little surprising since the Pack are closer now then they've been in a long time and play in a pretty weak division, I won't be surprised if the pack only takes a project at QB in the draft and Brett gets the fire going again the last few weeks of training camp.

The Eagles have done pretty well in free agency, the Texans not so much. With the addition of Samuel, moving Sheldon Brown to safety seems like the makings of a blanketing secondary that can force turnovers, but I'm afraid the offers for Sheppard will be too sweet. Especially since the Eagles will ask for significantly less then the Falcons will for Hall. The Larry Fitzgerald rumors are the most appealing, but I don't see how the Eagles can make it work, then again they've show an ability to get the targets they set out to pursue. The Roy Williams talk is nice too, but McMillian would likely pass on a deal that made too much sense.

The 'Fins would really like to move out the #1 spot for multiple picks, I wonder if anyone will be willing to basically sacrifice the lion's share of their draft for that one player.

Fins promise open competition for QB, won't rule out Ryan

The Fins need a QB like I need a hole in the head. If they blow that #1 pick on Matt Ryan that would be dumb. Hank Goldberg predicted a trade with Dallas for their #1 and #3 and Kyle Kosier on the radio today.
