The esoteric club of gentlemen discussing Bush' mind
taks replied to Meshugger's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yes, I disagree. no kidding. kaftan's opinion of "do stupid things" is really "do things that i am ideologically opposed to." oh well. i can truly say, however, that i abhorred his mispronunciation of nuclear. i'm sorry, he should have been smacked in the beginning and told "you MUST get this right, even if it takes practice." yes, i know, lots of smart people get that one wrong. i don't care. the president of the US should not get these things wrong more than once. that's why POTUS has an endless staff of butt-kissers waiting around to do something useful. taks -

actually, this was not reagan, in his first term, but i think he was eventually worn down by the direction his party wanted to go, in expectation of bush sr. for the next term. too bad. in the end, he caved like they all do. taks -

no he hasn't. he gets lots of good press, that's about it. i suppose he gets credit as a humanitarian, but only in a limited scope. quite frankly, i doubt it. er, i doubt he'll have much post-office legacy. even if he has successes, he won't get the same sort of positive press that carter got for his failures. he started out on a good foot with proposing tax cuts, then ramped up spending. same old keynsian tactics that every other president in the last 100 years has implemented (though reagan tried to avoid it, enlisting friedman to help out). TARP solidified this parting message, IMO. correct. it makes him a politician, actually. certainly neither politician, particularly POTUS, are jobs i would ever aspire to. the only people that want such a job are, generally speaking, the sorts of people i'm not comfortable being around. taks -
not sure why, but i've seen that movie like 10 times now. i love it, for whatever reason. taks

wow, seemingly unrelated events that, when paired together, appear even less related than before. i did not think it would be possible. really. taks

hehe... that you would presume to "guess" his IQ. funny. FYI, based on his SAT scores, it is at least in the 125-130 range. which he beat. didn't really do poorly, either. as dumb as everyone made bush out to be, nobody bothered to notice that his last opponent did equally as well, if not slightly worse, at yale. or your learned ideology. and certainly failures in his communications department (nicole wallace, i believe) could have attributed to world perception. that plus a media that simply hated him. not that i really liked bush, but the bias toward him was (and continues to be) overwhelmingly one-sided, while many of his so-called "failures" continue unabated as normal operating procedure. taks -
ahem, apparently you forgot about carter. he couldn't even manage to get elected twice, let alone do a good job. this is what is soooo sad. you people think that you see a movie (not you, hurlshot), a movie made with barely any first-hand knowledge and somehow you know the truth? krezack compares the US healthcare system to cubas (oh god, how funny), obviously based on sicko, a movie made by one of the most biased "documentarians" that has ever lived. must be true, michael moore said so! every single stone movie - ever - is conceived from an obvious hatred of all things that may even fall under the republican banner, and you dolts aren't capable of seeing through the bias? what is the state of the intellectual capability of the world if people watch a movie and think they've found the truth simply because it favors some ideological belief they favor thesmselves? give me a break. demonstrate that the lump on your heads contains something more than an empty cavern. sheesh. there's idiocy in the world, indeed, and all i need to do is open up this forum to find it. taks

you've proved pretty much that you are a fool, too.. oh well. guess that's just one more idiotic statement coming from the ideologues. go figure. taks
-
ah, yes, given that you obviously have such intimate knowledge of the man. what's more idiotic, your statement, or his behavior, i wonder? taks

it seems to me that it had to be planned to some degree. the contrast is extremely high, and the article makes it seem like the shuttle was the goal, so he had to be expecting the sun's presence (i.e., he had the proper filters on the lens). taks

marriage solves the dating problem, though it creates the equally perplexing hall sex problem. taks

assuming they do that on a big griddle, that would be teppanyaki. we visit such a restaurant occasionally. my wife won't eat much of the sushi i get. FYI, sushi is actually the name of the rice. with some form of fish on top, it is referred to as nigiri (short for nigirizushi). unfortunately, there's only a few decent sushi places in COS. i would not rate the teppanyaki place as one of the better sushi houses, though it is sufficient. we go there for the teppan cooking. taks

that's because they don't want to punish the ISP for your crime. of course, the law is stupid to begin with, so stupid provisions like these should be expected, right? taks

i think my mother was relieved the ordeal was over when my dad died, even though there was still hope he would recover up till the last week or so (he was improving in many ways, just not the most important ones). oh, and for the record, aristes, i'd never eat at an "all you can eat" sushi place. something just not right about that concept to me... :shudder: i do love sushi, so i don't mind dropping $30 on lunch to get my fill, i just don't do that very often (don't know many people that also like sushi). taks

there's a "new" night at the museum? taks

hehe, that would be my cat. lots of baggage and very poor social skills. my mom's dog put him in his place a few weeks ago, however. damn evil cat. taks

i tire of this game, quite frankly. got a 3 for 3 my last time in (after 2 for 9 the previous 3 times in), but had to go back to the arena page a dozen times just to get fights that didn't cause an error - time wasting is OK, unless it is via tedium. is it too many people hitting their server, or just bad html? taks

just got back from a DMV hearing regarding my license. 12 points in 12 months is a no-no in CO. turns out they failed to mitigate one of my tickets. early payment results in a 2-point reduction, which i had done for one of my tickets (a 6-pointer), but it was not credited. as a result, i actually only have 10 points, so no suspension! we still have to get a certified fax from silverthorne (city near frisco-dillon in ski-country) attesting to the fact that i did pay it early. phew! the lawyer i hired for $250 was really unnecessary, however, he is going to do the legwork to get this straightened out so i guess it paid in the end. nice guy, my lawyer is. i think he's a keeper. taks

interesting. my brother was in AIT in 1990, at camp pendleton. he went on to saudi arabia a few months later. deep... never mind. taks

there aren't a whole lot of placement tests for engineering schools (at least not mine), particularly if you came out of a "college prep" program in high school. we only had to take one chemistry class anyway (with a separate lab). i also only had one english class. well, we had two communication classes, one was actually a graphics design class, the other either literature or composition - i chose literature, all king arthur books! the only other "placement" that mattered would be math, i suppose, and i already had college credit for the first semester of calculus. most people entering an engineering program have probably taken trig/pre-calc, which pretty much assures calculus 1 the first semester, though i don't know if it was a requirement to take a placement test for it at my school. taks

my name is americanized hungarian, and rare. sure, some kids poked fun, but i grew up in a rather ethnic area so it was no big deal (european ethnic, mostly, i.e., heavy irish, german, italiian, polish, czech, etc.). besides, once i was 11 or so i was the tallest kid in class and nobody bothered me about anything anyway. babysealkiller would be a bad name, too. taks

because they knew about the recent somali pirate issue? taks

really? hmm, seems a strange concept to me. there are probably less than 20 people in the world with my last name, so i'm fond of it (there is another use of the name - unrelated to my family - that has mysterious origins). however, i guess if your last name was something like pillowbiter or babypuppykiller i can see your point. taks

i think jake is actually short for jacob, btw. taks
