  1. a) which phone calls were taped? and... b) when was the last time you were on a suicide plane knowing your death was imminent? taks
  2. i cannot watch it from here. taks
  3. uh, the video was the evidence i was referring to. it's not very clear anyway. i've never seen or heard of that. taks
  4. it's also worth noting that the films were evidence in moussaoui's trial. a trial that only recently completed. taks
  5. i don't know... a plane crashes into the most protected facility in the world and we wonder why the government is protective of the evidence? taks
  6. oh, and for the record, not all the boxes were lost. they at least found the one from the pentagon and the one from the plane that ditched. oops. taks
  7. i don't know, maybe because the "black boxes" were in the front of the plane at the point of impact experiencing the full force of the impact? they are also heavy, contrasted with a passport that can waft up into the air and be blown out of harm's way. taks
  8. the conspiracists ignore some basic physics when making this claim. first, their assumption of 800-1000 degrees is for an open air flame. this was hardly an open air flame. a better analogy would be a crucible. temperatures can easily get much higher than that in such a situation. also, 1160 is the melting point of the steel (generic steel is just over 1000, higher grade building steel is probably where the 1160 came from). even if temperatures got only to 800, their assertions ignore the fact that steel weakens significantly well before even that temperature. it's not like you start heating it and suddenly it starts melting without any changes beforehand. his call came after the attack had already occured, and he made the statement in 2002 in an interview saying that while speaking with the fire department, the best thing to do would be to "pull it," i.e. get out of there because they've already lost enough lives. another nonsense claim made by conspiracists looking for an angle. taks
  9. there's plenty of evidence. when conspiracists cite a "lack of evidence" that really means they are unwilling to admit the validity of the evidence that does exist. taks
  10. This statement is true. while i disagree with your assertion that this is a true statement, i agree with this: why do i disagree with the first assertion? because "all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system" are not necessarily tied to political ideology. your assertion that this is the case presumes that everyone following one ideology does so blindly. i.e. you are assuming people really are sheep and if the party votes one way, everyone agrees and their votes follow lock-step. political infighting is not uncommon. not all democrats agree with the party line, and the same goes for republicans (US system). however, it could probably then be said that a true, one-party system is not possible and the result of political differences within a given party is what gives rise to the multi-party system. i picked strongly disagree with this, but i first selected strongly agree for your very reasoning. the problem, i felt, was that having one party does not solve the basic drive behind ideology in the first place: human will. in the end, everyone looks out for themselves to one extent or another. what is good for joe schmoe, may not be good for suzy normal. even if they have the same fundamental beliefs, they will disagree on many of the details (which may not seem to be details to an outsider). heck, they may even disagree on what is important and not important. this disagreement alone will impede progress in the sense that the question is asking. i think a corollary to what i'm saying is that in the end, heterogeneous ideology, down to the nitty gritty details, cannot exist. as a result, the question itself is flawed. btw, differences between people is what makes democracy work. the delay in progress is actually a good thing. without it, societies would forge ahead without giving serious debate to the issues that impact everyone. if a bad decision is made, the results could be disastrous. like lemmings to a cliff. debate does not impede, it forces level-headed decisions. taks
  11. oooh... when i clicked on "people", i was on top of the una-bomber. watch out everyone. taks
  12. apparently i'm an anarchist. or was that anti-christ? taks
  13. yes. odd that europe would favor caliber over mm given that it is mostly metric over there. taks
  14. the US military refers to much of their ammunition in mm now. "7.62 mm, full.metal.jacket" vincent dinofrio, full metal jacket. (uh, .30 caliber). taks
  15. yeah, it was. i heard the game... well, at least one of 'em. it's shannon, not shanahan, i think. been a while since i heard him. he had big liver troubles later in life. he co-hosted with jack buck. a st. louis legend. taks
  16. mike shanahan, announcer (KMOX) for the st. louis cardinals baseball, was limited to a 6-pack of budweiser during games after slurring andy van slyke's name on the air (when he was still a cardinal). as a related side, every time mike would say "it's time for a nice cold budweiser" to plug the sponsor (uh, guess who), and you'd hear the nifty sound effect of a beer can popping... it wasn't a sound effect. at least, that's the way i hears it! taks
  17. well, too fast in that many find it hard to keep track of the puck. that's why they had the red and blue dots/streaks in recent times to aid those that couldn't keep up. in the end, it just annoyed those of us that could. i agree that hockey is not "too fast", i prefer to watch it above all else. taks
  18. believe it or not, soccer is the most popular sport in the US among children. unfortunately, it has never translated well to a spectator sport for adults. it's just not fast enough for the average joe watching the tube. of course, hockey is tooo fast for the average joe watching the tube... go figure. taks
  19. even when the software IS coded to take advantage of 64-bit technology it won't necessarily run faster. the primary improvement is resolution in results. if anything, 64-bit will be comparitively slower, actually, since the data bandwidth requirements will immediately double. taks
  20. yeah, but nobody really cares what you think anyway. taks
  21. i still love all the "bush am dumb" jokes... never mind he outscored both of his competitors for office on various tests/grades. speaks volumes it does... taks
  22. oh.my.gawd. are you trying to start a riot in here? taks
  23. and how would you know that? from all the left-wing blogs? or do you actually watch fox news? " yeah, there's a beacon of light... taks
  24. you obviously have never read the geneva convention, yet somehow you think we should be following it. a soldier is not "just a soldier" out of uniform. they need to be clearly marked that they are soldiers. duh. dang hades, sometimes... taks
  25. uh, i think you need to actually read the geneva convention. you're going to have a hard time reconciling these two statements. taks
