  2. WTF? you've never been drunk volourn? sheesh, here i thought you'd never been sober. silly taks. taks
  3. btw, quick question... they mentioned that i might get a title and some land. i'm assuming that is the stronghold so to speak. when does that happen? i'm done with the trial. taks
  4. so sand/hades/<nom du jour> is really a girl? interesting... ahem. taks
  5. that wasn't about being good, that was about saving the guy that is supposed to save the city... taks
  6. you mean like, property rights, capitalism, etc... right? i.e. baaaa. taks
  7. oh, they did plenty. they spent money like it was water. that's what i mean, nothing w.r.t. spending will get done. i don't think it can get worse, btw. taks
  8. i really don't either, and i was worried about government spending when the GOP took control in the first place. seems i was right. i don't, however, think they'll really "work together" except with iraq. otherwise, i expect mostly that nothing will get done. taks
  9. splitting power does not split the country any more than it currently is. splitting power simply prevents one ideology from dominating the political process and subjugating the power of the people. one when party rules both the legislative and executive branches, nobody's will gets served other than that of the politicians themselves. taks

    SNOW!!!!

the colorado mountains are expecting another couple feet this coming week. yay!!! i'm expecting the first ski-day this year to be next friday (i'm on a 9/80 work schedule so every other friday is an off day). i had hoped to get out several times before turkey day, but alas, i just do not have the time. taks
  11. yeah, sort of a tit for tat. "ok, i want to keep this district seat, and you can have that one." here lies another corruptive element of our system, for which i do not have a solution (i don't know if anyone does). taks
  12. i'm not sure what you're getting at here? this would be a case of true socialism creeping into mainstream politics/law, btw. that the supreme court upheld this in the face of massive, and obvious, opposition was rather surprising. taks
  13. you just go ahead and set that small fruit, or vegetable, or whatever a kumquat is, straight. "it's my thread and i'll spoil if i want to, spoil if i want to..." taks
  14. java mode here, too. taks
  15. you are correct. solved, sort of, by the 12th amendment. interestingly, it technically calls for separate votes for Pres and Veep... not sure how that plays with reality. i never paid attention "hmmm... this guy, so check this box" and out i went. taks
  16. i think that behavior is dependent upon the chip and memory/cache management structure. taks
  17. PSU or mobo is my ultimate guess. i'll lean more towards PSU simply because you have a rather stout system with a 425 W supply, and as i noted, many of those Ws are dedicated to things not normally used heavily. is it a tru-power supply from antec? they tend to be better in this regard. i've had other PSUs go bad in the past, and this is how they manifested their failures. the antecs i've been using for the past 5 years or so have never failed on me. pushing the limit on any supply, however, will cause it to reset (as a computer engineer, you probably understand what a voltage regulator does when it overheats... think square wave). taks
  18. branded the evil capitalist that i am. of course, in the end, the treachery angle would be they'd try to steal my gold for themselves. hypocrites. hehe... taks
  19. yeah, the drop-down delay seems unnecessary. i'm sure there was _some_ reason for it, though i have yet to decipher that reason. deraldin, i've found many emeralds and diamonds, even a yellow diamond that is supposedly very rare. it commanded something like 1500 gp at the store (i''m not crafting this time through). taks
  20. LOL! taks
  21. yup. i've bankrupted two merchants so far. i believe they reset after a while, however. i don't mind this. taks
  22. the toee radial menu had other issues. it was even worse than the NWN1 version. taks
  23. it stays relatively fast up through 10th or so level... i think i'm 13th now, and the last three levels have taken about 1/3 of my total play time (about 25 hours). since there are about 18-20 levels woth of gain in this game, and i'm half way or so, i'm guessing the level up speed has, well, levelled off. NWN1 was the same way. a 40-50 hour game and most finished around 16-17th level first time through. they sort of have to do this for several reasons, IMO. one, as you note, to get through the low-level instadeath problem. the second is simply because of the story. you're eventually dealing with powers that are trying to take down a whole city. 5th level parties aren't up to the task of dealing with the higher level NPCs driving the story. this means lots of levels. if the game paced them all a little slower, it would be 100 hours or more of gameplay, which is unreasonable to expect. really, if you think about it, each fairly major area (e.g. owls well, etc.) would qualify as a separate module in PnP. this whole game would take a year (or more) to get through playing 10 hours a week in PnP. taks
  24. in general, very true. however, the far left, the extreme liberals in the democratic party, are socialist anywhere in the world. they comprise a very small sub-group of the democrats, however. unfortunately, many of their ideas creep into mainstream politics on occasion. taks
