Should Kotor2 be a little more Violent.
Grand_Commander13 replied to psychohazards's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
And that, my friend, is a debate I won't get into. And by the way, I find it quite disturbing that you consider it an insult when I imply that Canada is a generally safe place to live. Very disturbing indeed... -
Ion grenades make EMP blast?
Grand_Commander13 replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, I know all about how they work, but not how they work. Er... Lemme rephrase that: I know all about what they do, but not what the supposed scientific process is. Anyway, I oppose this idea simply on game balance issues. Unless blasters are made better than melee weapons like they're supposed to be. You gotta wonder though... If this idea worked in the Star Wars canon, wouldn't we be seeing a lot of purely mechanical guns (i.e. what we currently know as modern firearms), that can't be fried by EMP? -

Heh. I only played a little TIE Fighter. X-Wing was what it was all about man. I wish they'd re-do X-Wing with modern graphics. Maybe a couple new fighters, but leave everything else intact. Anyway: :D -

*in the name of humor, decides to totally ignore the second line* Ha ha. Yes, how could I forget the daily massacres on the mean streets on Canada? They totally slipped my mind. Ha ha ha. Like I said earlier: Violence is all well and good, so long as it isn't excessive. The more realistic the game is meant to/needs to be, the more realistic the violence is. Star Wars has always been less gorey in its violence (blasters rather than bullets, lightsabers rather than swords), so KOTOR should reflect that. Half-Life, on the other hand, is more of a survival-horrory FPS (like Resident Evil). They go more for a sci-fiish realism, and the gore gets turned up because of it. -

Wow Mafia, you fooled... What... Two newbies with that little display? Wait, wait, no you didn't. I could start a long list of WHY this is obviously fake, but instead, I'm going to let you imagine me giving you the finger. Because I am. -

psychohazards... You are, indeed, an idiot. I also wish I could play as a non-force user. 'twood be interesting and entertaining to have a KOTOR-style game where blasters, melee weapons, and non-robe armor were useful. -
Ion grenades make EMP blast?
Grand_Commander13 replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I don't know how ion cannons/grenades are supposed to work in the SW universe, but EMP != ion. Ions are simply atoms with an electric charge; nothing more. They have nothing to do with EMP. Anyway, I don't like the effect this would have on blasters and powered armor. Take crappy weapons/armor and make them worse. -
What do you think?
Grand_Commander13 replied to the_wonderchild's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I gave it an 8, but that was pretending the thing was totally stable. The bugs would knock it down one or two pegs. I still think Fallouts 1 and 2 are better games; that doesn't mean KOTOR 1 isn't an enjoyable game though. -
1) Is anything being done to make the single-saber path (with Dueling) more worthwhile? I mean, as opposed to dual-wielding or using a double-ended saber. And other than the x1.5 str bonus to damage (not too much of a factor, but it helps). 2) When can we get more information on prestige classes? Even one piece of info for each class now would make me a very happy little boy. 3) Even if they're not in the original version, do you think we can expect/hope for with reasonable chance for success a patch to the PC version with up/down hoods on robes, and an on/off switch in the options area for the glowy effects when you use attack feats? 4) How many saber styles? Fast/Normal/Strong would be cool, but Crane/Eagle/Wolf/Snake/Tiger/any other naming scheme that gives a ton would be better. 5) Have the guns been re-worked to make them cooler? 6) Have more good opportunities for Stealth been included? 7) How's my easter egg coming?

Which class combination?
Grand_Commander13 replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I answered Consular/Weapons Master, but that only tells part of the story. I'm unsure what I'll play the first time around; all I know is that it will be lightside. However, when I go darkside, it's Consular/Marauder all the way, unless the stats interact oddly. -
I was implying that KOTOR 1's endings weren't cool. Do you really think I'd be here on the forums for a Star Wars game if I didn't like Star Wars at least a bit?

What's bigger Star Forge or Death Star
Grand_Commander13 replied to Darth Reven's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Look at the Star Forge. Look at the star it feeds off of. Small moon, not gigantic. -
But that would have been cool, now wouldn't it?
-
I'm pretty sure KOTOR 2 has been in development since before KOTOR 1's release.

http://www.starwars.com/databank/updates/news20040818.html New forumites are notorious for not linking to the source of their information. Does anyone else think that, by reading Malak's entry, that they HEAVILY imply that the Jedi order WANTED to fight the Mandalorians?

What of the others?
Grand_Commander13 replied to Darth Reven's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, except for the fact that Canderous was like ten times cooler than she was. As much as I love t3h blue twi'lek, I'd rather have mah main main back than mah numba one ho. -
Questions to Dev's - take 3
Grand_Commander13 replied to Hydrogen's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Don't ask me about if we can have one in the party, but Lucas hasn't said ANYTHING about Yoda's species (not even a name), and won't let anyone else make it up either. Part of the thing is the tradeoff: You can go ahead and wear armor for a higher AC (well, if your dex isn't uber), but you can't cast a lot of your force powers. Go away. One. The turret game won't be something you need to do to advance the plot (and as such, if it's too hard for you, just don't do it). Two. It has been said that places will be different, depending on your light/dark actions. Uh... You mean like the storage crates on the Ebon Hawk? Three. *pulls out pistols and wastes Dual* -

Grand_Commander13 replied to psychohazards's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Now you're just coming across as stupid. Was the only reason you liked Fallout because you could have sex and shoot innocent people? Violence is a thing to be curbed (I'm all for whipping out the lightsabers, blasters, and vibroblades and havin a good time, but limbs flying off is excessive), rather than cranked up. When there's too much dismemberment, it gets very distracting and just looks dumb. If we were going for high realism, then a successful lightsaber attack would remove a head or a limb. THEN the dismemberment would be acceptable. But no, in KOTOR, a suit of armor is just as good against a lightsaber as it is against a short sword. So we're not going for high realism, are we? That will be all. -
Note that this isn't a KOTOR 1 forum; it's a KOTOR 2 forum. And just because KOTOR 1's story was almost laughable, that doesn't mean it wasn't a well put-together game.

They haven't said anything about HK-47, but T3-M4 is confirmed to be in the game again. Note the Mandalorians in the trailer though, and how you helped Canderous retain his honor among the Mandalorian clans. Also note how one of the characters is wearing Mandalorian armor... And also note how Canderous is definitely alive at the end of the game, no matter how you beat it. SWEET! CANDEROUS RETURNS! -
I vote neither. For instance, if they wanted a dark ending, a good one would be where you finish off the final boss, and... ***BEGIN CUTSCENE*** Your characters wipes his forehead and deactivates his lightsaber. Suddenly, all the doors to the arena-like room open, and we see dozens of Sith Jedi (not Apprentices, mind you) with lightsabers activated. Your character activates his lightsaber, and the game ends with them all rushing in at him. NARRATION OVER A SCENE OF YOUR DEAD CHARACTER AND A DOZEN DEAD DARK JEDI: "He had completed his mission; without their leaders, the Sith could not hope to overcome the Republic. However, it would be quite awhile before the Sith could be defeated forever, with the Republic's greatest hero lost in the final battle." ***END CUTSCENE*** I coulda written it better, but I'd consider that a good concept for a dark ending. A bright ending would be along the same concept (namely, neither conversation nor ceremony, but action).

I wish I could hostile everybody, a'la Fallout. I hate having to provoke nubs into fights. Alas, since KOTOR is so story-driven, it would be impossible. What if I killed Canderous before he joined my party? No Hawk for me. Looks like I'm trapped on Taris... Whereas in Fallout, you can just walk out of town... -
Why does everyone keep calling Revan Raven? He does NOT have a TV show, dang it! Anyway, you have Vault Man in your avatar, so you can't be all bad. I just think that KOTOR's story is too simplistic and railroaded to be hailed as genius, when it was merely mediocre.
