  1. My hat off to EA for letting marketing students use their products for experimental new marketing strategies. Good to see that not all innovation within EA is dead.
  2. Yup, I posted it to the RANDOM NEWS thread a while ago. Goes to show that you can make a good looking game on a budget, self-publish it on the PC only and receive critical and commercial success. Same with Minecraft.
  3. This continues to make little to no sense. Not that I mind, as I don't really want to know. I'm playing UT99, because it actually runs on my netbook.
  4. Sorry, I was tricked by the fact that you play in first person view and you shoot things. A common mistake, to be sure.
  5. I'm not asking anything, AP2's argument was about games in general not just Alpha Protocol. Another question is whether Alpha Protocol's low(ish) scores were actually undeserved. Seeing as all the scores are subjective and presumably aimed at the reviewer's target audience, I don't have a problem with them. Perhaps SEGA should have marketed (and budgeted) the game at a specific segment of the market?
  6. This simply is not true. No matter how you want to say it. Games that get bad reviews don't sell well. Why? because they get a bad reputation right off and because they are in fact bad games that no one likes and they aren't recommended or enjoyed by the majority of critics both pro and gamer and metacritic shows this. Purkake, why are you still here writing all these negative posts naysaying every positive post that is written about this game? I get the feeling you wanted this game to be really good even one of your favorite games-that's understandable- or maybe you're just some smart @ss who thinks he knows better then everyone else and wants to prove it to himself and to those who he feels are inferior, the ones who can appreciate this game. Also, you said you can't help coming into this forum because its part of the other game forums you intend to go to. Who you kidding. That's simple not true either. No one has hijacked your browser or your keyboard. Let's see, Wii Play has sold 27 million units(according to Wikipedia) and has a Metacritic score of 58, Mario Party has sold 7.6 million and has a Metacritic score of 62 and the list goes on. I'm still here to bring balance to the universe. You're armchair psychoanalysis is entertaining, though.
  7. You can fix the gimped mouse aiming by forcing Vsync off. The movement controls were also "tailored" to make the game scarier or harder, which I always hate. Dead Space was a giant kitchen sink of cool ideas like the dismemberment, the "gravity gun", the "freeze ray" and the zero-g environments. I feel that none of those ideas were exploited to their full potential. Just the dismemberment could have had different effects on different monsters, such as cutting the wrong place leading to two monsters or having to cut through something to get to the squishy bits. It ended up just being a Top Chef: Necromorph Sushi Special. Also, the enemy diversity was pretty bad with new, more tan versions of older monsters showing up and requiring more weapon spamming to dismember. As for exploring ruins and derelict space ships, that's what half of horror-ish games are about, if not a portion of all games.
  8. For me, yes, but that's just my personal opinion. My actual problem with Dead Space was that it was supposed to be a horror game, but the best it managed was bad controls and jump scares. Also it was about twice as long as it should have been.
  9. That's no fun, it's all about the Laser Pistol, mang. Would have been nice if all the higher tier weapons were useful/worth it, though
  10. Hurray! Resident Evil In Space 2: The Sequeling
  11. At least once we agree on something. Nevertheless, I'm confused.
  12. Re: Legend of the Seeker and eventual suckage: That's how I understood it as well.
  13. If AP had been half the game it is, but polished up to today's standards it would have probably gotten all the praise it lacked and actually given Obsidian some credibility in the general public's eyes.
  14. Purkake replied to Hurlshort's topic in Way Off-Topic
Canceled in less than half a season. Calling it now.
  15. I only do weird Lovecraftian stuff and I'm not really a fan of PARPG, sorry
  16. Avoid the expansions then.
  17. Make sure you see the ending, it's hilariously awful.
  18. That's a lot of hate for something entirely cosmetic. Lots of games have used the monochrome-color duality for different things. Did the SCC steal your daughter of something?
  19. From what I remember, the main complaint was that PSI was over/underpowered.
  20. Amnesia sells 200,000 units. Some interesting bits in there:
  21. Mmm sozzy.
  22. I was referring to gamers on all Bioshock-compatible platforms.
  23. It's not like they couldn't have balanced them. I don't mean the kind you pick at the beginning, but just some choices along the way on how to specialize. Giving you some benefits and penalties or just not having access to the most powerful stuff if you choose to be the jack of all trades.
  24. That and a lot of waiting. One thing that they should have lifted from SS2 was the class system, being able to do everything with no specialization was kind of boring.
