Movie/TV plots summarized in uncomfortable, yet funny ways. Some examples: BATMAN: Wealthy man assaults the mentally ill. LORD OF THE RINGS: Midget destroys stolen property. BLADE: Obsessed loner stalks minority group. FIREFLY: In an analogue of the post-Civil War west, a white man on the losing side bosses around a black woman. STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE: Religious extremist terrorists destroy government installation, killing thousands. Feel free to add your own. (HINT: make sure they are funny.)

The look on Ben's face was priceless when Locke said that he is going to kill Jacob. I seriously doubt that it's going to be as easy as that. Jack's short-sightedness never fails to amaze me. He is ready to blow his present self up on the off-chance that it will change the past and have another (clueless) him can live in blissful ignorance.(He can't be stupid enough to think that blowing up the bomb will magically teleport him to the original Oceanic 815 with less crashing).

lulz. ok, yeah. i always forget about that abortion of a game. In it's defense, they copied almost word for word the original written PnP game, so the blame for quality writing/story telling goes elsewhere. They could be held accountable for not changing, or improving it. But then it would not remain true to the source. It was hard for them to win. I agree, the engine had tons of potential for a real PnP game. Too bad they didn't have the time to squish all the bugs. The game felt like a tech demo.

The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena review is up featuring random snacks and less ads in the beginning. The end(ish part) is also pretty good.

BoreSnake mini-game followed by a mini-game where you have to run brushes and patches through followed by a mini-game where you have to disassemble all parts of the action, clean it, and then reassemble the entire gun. YES! But you need to make it more abstract, maybe a game of Bejeweled? Instead of the crystals you could have old-timey vacuum tubes...

Sure it was ~in a way. The weird stuff was to break up the oppressiveness and instill a sence of "anything can happen ~out there in the undiscovered watses... (IE. Outside of town)". Fallout had strange kooky aspects, but they fit the setting. An example of what does not fit a given setting, is Gandalf in Helm's Deep, exhausting his spells on the orcs and resorting to an AK-47 pulled out from the folds of his robe ~that breaks suspension of disbelief... Supermutants in Fallout do not ~even Fire Gekkos do not (but they push it close ). Fallout was not a free for all 50's carnival hour where anything goes and folks get up after a nuclear blast. Vampires don't fit the setting and break suspension of disbelief for example, as does any essential NPC. This new perk "Puppies" is absurd break; Dogmeat's value was that he was a wicked pooch with a killer bite, but was still vulnerable and needed to be protected ~with that perk he becomes disposable and infinitely replaceable. ~what a crock... Umm, yeah I wasn't defending FO3, I was just pointing out the unimportance of correct gun calibers and damage models.

But what if it's the same half?

You're just mad that a machine beat you. It's playing mind games I'm telling you! Soon it will become self-aware and try to take over the world.
-
It still boggles my mind how they could come up with such an absurd system for repairing stuff. Pulpy 50s future or not who repairs things with other things? The hammers in Oblivion weren't the most elegant way to do it, but at least it worked and made some sense.

I would prefer not having to carry around 5 copies of the same gun to fix it. Ammo weight is pretty much a non-issue for me. At least it's better than infinite ammo.
-
Fallout's stealth has always been a joke and I doubt that Obsidian can fix that. I would prefer more "talk your way through" stuff. My point is that adding a scope or a flashlight or some other crazy stuff to my realistic plasma thrower wouldn't make the combat any more fun for me. Just like having a million different versions of the guns and ammo didn't make the combat in Mass Effect any better. If it does make it more enjoyable for you, great, but that is not a road I want Fallout to take and it shouldn't be the primary or even the secondary focus when developing a new Fallout game.
-
And I just want it to be less about combat and more about story, setting and characters. In Fallout 1/2 combat was an important part of the game, but it was always a means to an end. You didn't really have to fight.
-
I'm all for better stories and characters, but I don't think having realistic weapon calibers or damage would add anything to the game. Also "It leaked like a sleeve"? That's a funny mental image... EDIT: Are you a hivemind as well?
-
I'm just saying that it was never meant to be taken as seriously as you apparently are taking it. The Fallout world has always been tongue in cheek with all the crazy laser weapons, 50s super mutants and well-pressed jumpsuits.
-
It was about survival mixed in with (darkish) humor about 50s funny and optimistic vision of the future. I love JA2 (especially with 1.13), but those are two totally different games. Fallout is first and foremost an RPG while JA was first and foremost a squad-based tactical strategy game.
-
All the talk about bullet calibers, effects of nuclear fallout and other realistic stuff. Fallout has never really been about that.

Hey! Don't you dare throwing mud on my preciousss Thief 3. I have spent so many long minutes hugging walls to hide in tight places... Umm or are you talking about Mirror's Edge and Assasin's Creed? or? *The user has encountered a logic error* I was referring to Gears of War style third person shooters.

Woah, I though the "Crazy NMA people" thing was just a joke. Some of you are pretty out there... Also let's not get our expectations too high, hype ruins everything.

I'm just trying to bring a little reality here. It could totally be a Thief II-level masterpiece, but then again it might not... Just hold out for Planescape 2 - Revenge of TNO

Looking forward to the regenerating health, cover based combat system and quick-time events. Are there any other franchises that could be dug up and reanimated for the new brave console world? What about Daikatana?

Next SWAT 4 episode is up featuring a crazy cult and lots of scientology jokes.

Making fun of IGN is always a hoot, but when they give a game a negative review(below 6-7) you can pretty much bet that the game will suck. Try to look at it this way: even IGN gave it a low-(ish) score. -
So I was loading my old GOTY Deus Ex when ...

Because the people behind IW have nothing to do with DX3? The IW people are mostly the ones who made DX, so this one could go either way. Apparently Warren Spector is tired of cyberpunk stuff and is working on a Disney license... On a sidenote SS2 works perfectly on my PC with XP SP3 and on my Asus 1000H netbook with XP SP3 without any compatability modes. And my netbook doesn't have a cd/dvd drive... -
Does anyone remember the prehistoric times when the bonus stuff was actually cool and worth something? Those extra merchants had some interesting stuff in BG2, instead of some cheat or a new ugly skin.

Wow, awesome. Now let's just hope that the game will be decent...
