I'm looking forward to the alien roundtable where they all sit in a circle on the ceiling and make funny noises with subtitles for us poor humans.

Secret Of Monkey Island Special Edition Sails To 360?
Purkake replied to Jaesun's topic in Computer and Console
Shush! The first rule of the Monkey Island club is that there is no Monkey Island 4. The third one is also amazing and has a pretty hand-drawn look. -
I agree, it was pretty interesting to sneak around the ventilation ducts and being being very vulnerable. It was also really funny how you got the missions as an alien and learned the story by listening in on people, very NOLF-ish. I hope they find and interesting way to handle that.

dude, E3 is almost started. Then the gates of info shall flow and drown us all. I've never played any of these games. I have only played a handful of FPS's. Are these (older) titles still available... like say Steam or? Unfortunately Fox has apparently locked all their good games into their capacious basement so that no one could enjoy the greatness of AvP or No One Lives Forever. Well frack. Thanks for the info. Actually... I think my brother has the first AvP. Maybe he still has it. I'm sure you could find them all of Amazon/Ebay, but I don't know how expensive they are. They did do a pretty long run with the Sierra Bestseller release.

Awesome, Yahtzee is in full swing and he sure loves his Nazis. Also love the subtle Bioshock hate.

It is interesting that they actually rolled out with some 1920x1200 in-engine shots with nice AA instead of some shoddy 360 pictures that look like generic FPS nr 4325. Lighting can really up the horror atmosphere(along with sound).

I would very much like to see an official press release stating that the character is in fact not a dryad but an actual "vegetable". I'm sure that's some great material for future dirty jokes, though. Hehe, she might actually have a stick up her ass, it'll be metaphorical AND literal!

I liked the second one. Minus the horrible hive level where I had no idea where to go or even which way was up... The second one was surely better designed, but I liked the overall feeling and art style from the first one more. AvP2 looked a bit too cartoonish. I can see that, the robot suit was pretty stupid as well. A screenshot from a magazine(?)

Yay, can't wait to wall-crawl all over the place and then eat some poor dude's juicy brains. There better be an awesome campaign as well featuring the facehugger and chestburster stages...

There are so many tasteless jokes to make. I don't know where to start. You start at the beginning. That's what the internet is for. She could sure use a trim... *rimshot*

So much for the romance, looks like your going to need a chainsaw to get anywhere with her...

Yes, eye for an eye! Blood! Revenge! I'm happy that most of Europe has abolished the death penalty. Damn commies! Oh yeah. I'm definitely a Commie. Because I really just love me some goddamn socialism. And idiotic totalitarianism. And ****ing socialism. Most definitely. /facepalm I was mocking your stance of socialism. You fail at detecting sarcasm.

The death penalty issue is not about individual cases, this much should be obvious. So, you've found a monster, so what. I, on the other hand, feel that to avoid individual cases is to indulge in intellectual decadence. Typically the debate is over whether the death penalty can ever be justified. This is the proverbial black swan, which I feel proves that it can be. Indeed, I think that to look on this account without feeling the compelling need to exact ferocious retribution is to deny one's own humanity. Some things need to be punished, not as a deterrent to others because they are probably beyond deterrent, but as proof that we are distinct from them. So how do you measure it? Is it worse than murdering 10 people? 100?

Yes, eye for an eye! Blood! Revenge! I'm happy that most of Europe has abolished the death penalty. Damn commies! We lock them up because we aren't bloodthirsty savages and also because of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union contains the right to life. I do think that he should get life in prison without any cuts.

I'd imagine the females wouldn't look or sound very different from the males (apart from the high heels & lipstick). If BioWare were really adventurous, they could introduce races with more than two sexes. It was kind of the easy way out when they introduced the race of Asari, a race that is practically Captain Kirk's wet dream. Why not introduce an ascetic or sexless race like the Vulcans? This could make the inevitable romance quite interesting, having to turn away the ascetic from their rigid ways similar to Revan trying to make Bastila deny the Jedi code. More than two sexes don't really make much sense, unless they were like ant castes with different tasks... Like I said earlier, an asexually reproducing race would be awesome, but they don't have to be passionless automatons as they are ofter depicted as.

It's like Bioshock, the damn lazy designers only made ~15 models and didn't even bother to randomize the clothes.
-
Yes, that is my guess too. Although villain might not be the right term. Smokey is the Island's security system. By definition, it doesn't like people on the Island (e.g. it killed Parkman when he was trying to use the radio, killed Rousseau's team, attacked Keamy's crew), and if it must allow people, then it scans them to know their intentions (the Others may stay because they really are good people, Eko was killed for refusing to repent). It could also be that it killed Eko because he (probably)wouldn't kill Jacob for it.
-
Other than asari and quinari, all the alien races were all male. Ehh... they were? Not sure about the turians but krogans, salarians & quarians didn't seem to be all male. That was asari and quarians. Okay, show me a picture of a female turian, krogan, or salarian. can you be certain that you didn't see female salarians and krogans and turians? as were mentioned, the game made multiple references to female krogan, so we know they at least got 2 sexes. as for the other critters... HA! Good Fun! Bioware is just super lazy with model design an couldn't be bothered to make any more than one of everything.
-
There are also quite a few theories about Jacob being the true villain. It's mostly based on the beginning scene where Dude in Black doesn't want people on the island because they always do bad stuff in the end, but Jacob keeps bringing people there. Hopefully it won't be as black and white as their clothes were, good vs evil is getting a bit old.

How well does Integration of Immigrants work in your country?
Purkake replied to Morgoth's topic in Way Off-Topic
Well, there are probably bunch of people who don't care or aren't offended by it. -
And non of the people you are familiar with make jokes while in voice chat? It's really hard to maintain the horror atmosphere and tension when there are multiple people around.
-
Don't mind me, I'm just camping the Shub-Niggurath spawn. On a more serious note, the sanity system offers a lot of great choices for an rpg(way more than increasingly blurry screen[tm]). Having to choose between your sanity and learning spells to survive would make for some great roleplaying. Suddenly you might not want to read every book and steal every shiny artifact.
-
MMOs and horror are probably a very bad mix. You can't really maintain a horror atmosphere with 6 idiots telling you stupid jokes on teamspeak. A good 1920/30 Mythosian rpg would be awesome, though. I'm sure the license is pretty cheap and Obsidian is already kind of working with Bethesda I'm not a big fan of modern paranormal horror stuff, the guns and tech really ruin the atmosphere.
