It's a single CD, so probably less than a gigabyte. There's also a demo weighing in at ~60MB if you think your dial-up can handle it. EDIT: My Homeworld 2 folder is about 750MB, HW1 probably takes less.

Nexus has a sweet Battlestar mod for it IIRC. The Homeworld campaign is pretty good as it is, if a little too hard AND it will play on any old-ass computer you can find.

You could try trolling harder if that is actually possible. Then maybe you could go out with a bang instead of ending up a worn out meme like Volourn.

Sure, but even if I like a game I won't go around proclaiming that it is the best thing since sliced bread. Compared to other strategy games EaW is mediocre at best. Go try Homeworld and let us know what you think of it.

I would have you know that the Giant Bomb "slackers" are really funny. Go check out the "TANG" section under videos, it's hilarious.

Valve actually proposed something like investing(financially) in the games you are interested in and getting dividends and the game, of course, once it's done. It's an interesting idea, but I have a hard time seeing it work in practice.

CoC is better for new players anyway. The mechanical stuff is pretty secondary. But for some reason DnD seems to be the stepping stone for lots of PnP people.

Everyone loves CoC PnP. There's a ton of awesome campaigns out there like Masks of Nyarlathotep, Day of the Beast and Beyond the Mountains of Madness. Even today's PA is vaguely related(and profanity free!):

Mr Squid is just hyped as per usual. It's not a horrible game, but it gets old really fast and has the depth of a soup bowl.

I've never heard anyone say that those games are as good as homeworld. i've never even heard them be compared to homeworld. i was always under the impression those star wars games were like crap starcraft knockoffs. have i been missing out? No you haven't. They are nothing like Homeworld and probably shouldn't even be used in the same sentence. EaW has a really simplistic strategy mode(think Total War, but super simple and in space) and really simplistic space/ground battles that are more like skirmishes. You move your units into place on the strategic map and then fight real time battles in the tactical mode. It's just another mediocre(at best) game with the Star Wars name put on it somewhere along the way. There's a demo if you're really really interested.

It is a pretty hard game. I remember playing it on a friend's PS1 a long time ago.

I didn't disagree with you, by the way. There is very little quality DLC out there compared to all the new skins and other crap that everyone is charging for.

Says the biased game developer... DLC is all nice and good if it is actually extra content, like the Fallout ones. Having to pay $10 more to get all of the game at release is not all that nice. How about selling the game for $20 and then having each chapter cost an extra $10? Game developers would love to do it and you wouldn't really be paying more if it added up to $60, but would any of you like that kind of a system?

Homeworld 3 would probably be 10x better without all the SW baggage. So basically you want anything that has Star Wars somewhere on the box? Speaking of which, what's up with the all the Clone stuff? It's like the only SW stuff left is Clone this or Clone that.

Most felt that it was pointless, retcon-y and generally unnecessary filler.
