Dead Space was one of the worst games I've played in recent years. I hated the controls, weapons, movement, linearity, forgetable characters and most of all the plot. Go there, do that... oh noes, something happend and you're back to square one.. and it happend in just about every level. Made me wish that ship would just explode or crash to the ground while I'm on board it.

I don't. First impression is very important for most of us, both in real life and (apparantly) in games. I try to keep open mind but sometimes when you first meet someone, you form idea of person based on very limited data. Even more odd is that it's often correct. Different characters are obivously better for paragon or renegade runs. Personally I liked Ashley the most, as her "I'm not a racist, even when everyone can see I'm racist" was interesting trait. I expect Zero to be good character too, but more in same way as Korgan, the berserking dwarf usually who murders his party members.

So, Is this game delayed or not?
Niten_Ryu replied to TheWatcher's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Terrible news if true. Obsidian had nice window of opportunity here as many triple A titles got delayed till next year. Holiday sales alone would have been nice boost to game like Alpha Protocol. Man, what a dry year it has been for new games. I've played most of infinity engine games, NWN2+MotB, Mass Effect, Fallout 1-2 and even SotU again. Bah... I guess it's time for Splinter Cells or Thief series next untill (hopefully) Dragon Age is released. -
Are you really from Estonia ? Maybe cultural lines are very sharp but finding angry people from Finland ain't that much of a problem I'm loving the pissed off crew. Dirty dosen type of crew who know that they are going to a suicide mission. I wish that some developer would make Klaus Kinski type of character, who'd just rage for days over petty issues

I like it. More renegade characters the better and bi "yo mom wears combatboots" type of damsel of distress work for me just fine.
-
Damn, just checked the reviews and Crysis still beats these new cards easily Otherwise both cards seem to be fine, except maybe very loud noise under stress. And "Finland" extra on prices really piss me off. $350 card cost

No doubt that this is what EA is betting on but we have to remember that Lucas takes big cut from overall profits so theoritically KotOR online need to be REALLY popular in order to reach WoW like profits for EA.

Almighty save makes all gambling systems flawed. Best way to deal with this would be to make hard cap for total wins. In RL casino gets very suspicious if someone just keep on winning, no matter if there's some cheating (card counting, or other systems) going on or not. In game like Fallout player could always refused to be kicked out of casino and it'd end up in bloody conflict... just like it should

I think it'd be great if it would happen. PS3 would lose many game brands and ultimately EA might fade into oblivion.
-
Now that's one obscure looking and sounding character. Guy has bleech blond hair, more bronze tanning then Hulk Hogan and sound like Lape

It seem that games that got metascore, PS3 version of "Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust" got lowest score: 17 http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/...oxofficebust?q= Uh oh... Some brands should just die. Al Love is probably rolling in his grave and he's not even dead.

This is not true unless we're talking about low / medium settings and/or less then 60 fps. If rumors are true, ATI's 5870 card will be first non-SLI card that allow 1080p with 60 fps or higher with all settings very high in Crysis. This is bit under 2 years after Crysis was released. I'm not fan of big screens and especially not in this generation of console tech. Next generation, whenever it'll come will be great as then all games can be 1080p. For me the native resolution, with sharp textures and 60 fps are the most important tech features.

I'd like to see Bethesda make a non Gamebryo engine game. If their animations still suck, I'll play Morrowind as a punishment... with those flying mobs in a game. I kinda enjoyed Fallout 3 till certain point. One skills got too high and weapons too powerful, I got bored really fast. That's unfortunate as I just met Enclave by then. Actually same thing happend me in Fallout 2 too, as game felt much more balanced before power armors and energy weapons (with certain perks).

I tried the demo and didn't like it. Cars can take unbelivable beating, even with full damage mode on (and I had all other settings on pro mode too). I'm just not going to play these type of racing games that don't have full damage physics.

Yeah, I understand this in Dragon Age as the game is designed to from the start to have certain linearity. You're Gray Warden and you have to do certain things. In Bioware writers seem to be in very much in control how things work and it's their story, you just happen to take part of it. I look things from complitely different angle. For me cut content (for schedule reasons or financial issues) is same as players choosing to skip content. I'm not asking for full sandbox game, but for example I would have skipped many fights in Torment and Baldur's Gate saga if I could have done it. I just finished Throne of Bhaal (again) and I think game would have worked just fine if you'd meet some (or maybe even all) of the five in Abyssal Plane in the end if you didn't kill 'em earlier on.

Just about everyone solo in MMOGs unless they have family or roommates playing the same game. Sure you might chat in vent or in guild channel but that don't mena that there's someone always in your group doing quests or killing mobs.

To fight or not to fight? Let's assume that you'd have option not to fight. Village falls and is burned to the ground. What would happen after that? Few extra members for darkspawn, minor moral blow for the kingdom and probably not much more. In strategy game you'd shrug once and move on. In Warhammer Dark Omen you could do those kind of "save the village" missions but in the end it meant that you did reach later to the final conflict and thus opponent had larger and more powerful force in there. In game like Dragon Age it could work other way around. Less you save, more powerful the enemy will be at some point. In NWN2 you were accused of destroying entire village. For my evil party there was great line.. something like "I would have burnt down that village at some point anyway". It means you didn't care about that village or even worse, you were happy that it was destroyed, even if it meant that you were accused of doing something that you didn't do.

Like I've said before, Geralt is like rock star. A celebrity. Women want to be with him and men like to be like him. Geralt wakes up from the gutter, money and items stolen after heavy night of drinking and fighting in local alehouse. Geralt walks to nearest hooker and gets quickie in nearby alley. It's time to earn some more cash and kill some monsters because drinks ain't free. Damn it feels great to play character like that. Reminds me of PnP adventures from the 80's

"We have all the elements of the high fantasy but it ain't high fantasy." Feels bit like certain type of bands that say they're alternative or some "hip" genre, because for some reason they can't admit that they're actually a pop group. It'd be much easier for both Bioware and the players if they'd just say it's original IP fantasy game with elfs and dwarfs. You're chosen one and you're going to save the world. There's no need to talk about how it's not those things just because there might be some political backstabbing or power struggle going on. Even in Baldur's Gate, the game that defines traditional fantasy computer RPG, had that. "Tough" moral choices? More like choices in just about every RPG. Familar and unimaginative are good for the mass market. Bioware should embrace that.

I really like the graphics and physics system. Throwing enemies over the edges are always fun. I'm not looking forward of those quicktime events, especially since those never react correctly how well (or badly) player handles the scene. Something like Metal Gear Solid 4 final fight look really stupid when boss mob don't get any hits thru but at the same time main character look like he got hit by a truck.

Activision CEO wants to take all the fun out of making games
Niten_Ryu replied to neckthrough's topic in Computer and Console
I'd argue that very few actually are irreplaceable. There's only few key people who keep companies like Blizzard and Valve at the top. Lose 'em, for wharever reason (retirement, accident, death ect ect) and company might go down the tubes. They are the people who can tell if something don't work or is financially too risky. Jr designer might see the same issues but don't have any power to correct the situation if people at the top are clueless. Ability to learn from past mistakes and keep up with the times is very important. Most in this board dislike what Ken Levine and his crew did for Bioshock but it was very calculated piece of work. From the early design to final product. What worked in System Shock 2 and what didn't. They chose all the right answers and Bioshock was commercial success. Blizzard does that all the time with all their games, even years after they are released. Back when I was still playing and raiding in WoW, they always managed to suprise me how they chose the correct path, no matter how much the vocal minority disagreed (or in some case, agreed) with 'em. Now only if Timmy Cain and co would have managed to do the same -
I'm sold. I actually didn't see how similar they were as I used BG1 portaits on my latest run. Imoen could be concept art for the DA character if I didn't know better. Yeah, Carth and Kaidan could have been just updated model and I guess Anomen fits into lineage too (don't know about JE as I havent played it). I don't mind (except in Carth and Kaidan case it was way too obvious and both were horrible characters with same VO) recycling same characters if it reduces costs or development time but in general it would be good to see more original characters.

Jagged Alliance seem to be poison for development teams and since Mr. Sawyer has seen more then his fair share of cancelled projects, it's cruel to suggest something like that On topic - My ME squad mates spend good amount of time hugging the floor, especially on insanity difficulty level. At some point I just ordered 'em to guard some bottleneck and did most of the killing alone. Something very basic like "shields are down, seek safe cover (meaning away from enemies), wait untill shield are back up" script would have been nice. Or smarter use of powers (usually they just waste powers on low threat mobs).

Great idea. Twitter is garbage for the RL people but it's like custom made for virtual characters
