  1. That was nasty mission, especially as it could be first recruitment mission. My Insane run Shepard Adept is alien lover so of course she disagreed with Miranda and didn't go for the salarian doc first. Garrus taking damage outside the screen, Miranda and Jacob die really fast, your powers are still rather gimpy or do not recharge fast enough, unlimited spawn of mobs while you try to move towards the button. I used granade laucher to kill armor and then singulatity to control 'em. Damn those Krogans could take beating and my guns (both pistols) felt like peashooter. Was hardest fight in the game for me (a lot to do with early levels and low powers, as well as minimal upgrades). Thankfully game autosaved (and ignored mobs that were still alive after 10 secs was over) and moved to cutscene. That Krogan boss killed me when I tried to circle strafe (in order to keep it away from nearly dead Garrus). I was damn pissed at that point because my last quicksave was before the last shutter... first time ever I was happy that there was autosave.
  2. This is interesting. First AAA quality game that you can play on youtube. And it's even better as you only choose what to do and that poor person who made those videos had to do all the controller movement / QTE crap
  3. It's really bizarre because there's been shooters almost 20 years now and you can put timeline when (and why) new features were added into genre. I'm not sure if it's arrogance or what but Bioware combat mechanics designers seem to think they can just re-invent the wheel and then only to notice that it's shaped like square.
  4. That'd be nice. We have too few games set on groovy 70's. Cheesy stadium rock music, disco boogie, trippy funk by George Clinton and the Funkadelic, early punk like The Ramones and New York Dolls.
  5. 22 years in the biz and only good game from this guy is Total Annihilation.. and it came out when I was already bored to death with RTS. This guy should have call it quits and Fallouts Chris Taylor should have stayed in biz.
  6. I'm not sure if ME2 is better but I seriously dislike combat mechanics and use of respawn (in order to force player to keep moving). Moving fast, from cover to cover (including middle of the mobs) is just about opposite how I'd like to play a game. I usually take time (unless I'm speedrunning), figure out best position and try to keep enemies in distance. Can't do it in all encounters in ME2. Especially with Insane difficulty I can bareful kill mobs fast enough (with adept) so you have to use really cheesy strategies like destroy every shield / armor so your root powers work (what a stupid change from ME as in that game armor didnt matter). Then root as many mobs as you can (3 max as another stupid change is global cooldowns for powers), run as fast as you can to the respawn reset point and only then kill the mobs. Mobs also have damn good accuracy so your shields are just about gone every time you move (and you can't crouch anymore in ME2 ). I really hate it. Otherwise I like the game and it really help that world of ME is already familar because of the first game.
  7. I'm sure that someone in here remember who worked on that unfortunate project named Torn. Nine years seem to be eternity in the intrawebs so I couldn't even find my own posts about it in various (mostly defunct) boards.
  8. That could be possible, but Shepards ship is already beyond blast range at that point. Maybe Reapers like monologues
  9. Just finished my 2nd run with renagade Shepard (import from ME) and end sequence was - Harbringer speaks "You have failed" "We'll find another way" Collector General raises head and look directly at Reaper holograp - "releasing control" and collector is free from control. It turns and see the massive explosion.
  10. Based on few TV documentaries with real scientists, they are even worse then sci-fi writers. They take some complex environment, like Wolf-Rayet star or variable star in general, or maybe binary star system and then start to create new critters that might survive on habitable zone. Even with biologists, evolutionary scientists, astrophysicists and anthropologist can't seem to get it anywhere near right and they skip really major things like "would such planet even have atmosphere" or "how did this planet avoid venus type greenhouse effect". After that they skip all but 3-4 species and somehow build working biosphere out of those critters. We couldn't get Biosphere 2 working here on earth, with all our knowledge of native (and real) species. Pure garbage.
  11. BG2 definately had grindy parts but game mechanics, different party options, different classes and lots of differents mobs made it more fun then in DA. BG had some really horrible places like Gnoll Fortress and Kobold Caves (with infinite spawns of course for the extra annoyance). Yeah and who can forget infinite Flaming Fist guards. Locations of the spawn zone triggers have probably been burnt permanately into my brain, because I was stupid enough to play evil party with low rep. I'm not that interested of the DA expansion (might be buy it from bargain bin or Steam holiday sales) and I'll probably wait for DA2.
  12. I love this. It's like watching Brezhnev era Soviet Union. You know that system is going full speed ahead towards the wall but can't do nothing about it. Well, I hope that good citizens of the US have same interests as the big bank executives or corporation leadership because your paying their yatchs, hookers and blow
  13. Someone bitchslapped EA / Bioware again. First Dragon Age DLC was leaked early and now ME2. Shame.. especially as offical EU release date is still week away. I bet many don't want to wait
  14. G4tv preview http://g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/50298/mass-...videos/#content
  15. I think they look close enough and very nice in both RL and digital form
  16. Hmmm... That depends a lot how you roleplay your characters. For my female paragon Shepard romance with Liera worked just fine. Same with my male renegade (and racist) with Ashley. Heck, they could be soul mates based on how well their personalities matched together. Kaidan romance didn't work at all for my mostly neurtal, but tolerant female and Liera was horrible with my semi renegade human pragmatist. I got a feeling that romance with Subject Zero will work great. Miranda probably not so much... maybe for my pragmatist but not other characters.
  17. Looking good. Hard to belive that Mass Effect and Dragon Age were made by same company. Hmmm.. Derek Watts as Art Director in Mass Effect and Dean Andersen in Dragon Age. Both have done long careers in company. Couldn't find Dean Andersens art but Derek Watts seem to have nice skills.
  18. I have to disagree with that. I think more characters like that we have, the better we are as they are at least simple to write. Unlike more complex characters and majority of the writers fail on 'em more or less complitely. Just about every character in ME2 could be in my dream team and renegade run has a chance to be really good.
  19. Fox News tries really hard to beat Weazel News. And I bet they are successful and we'll see Palin / Beck leading the country... from the white house.
  20. EA and Bioware manage to mess up Return to Ostager DLC. They delay it for some reason untill end of this month but at the same time it's already "released" all over internet. Not that I care as I wouldn't DL it even if it'd be free and available from Bioware's own site but it's still strange situation.
  21. Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape Torment are easily the best. Gold box games, original Baldur's Gate, MotB, IWD and Eye of the Beholder are ok. Rest are rather bad and NWN original campaign, Hillsfair and PoR-RoMD are horrible... actually there's several games from the mid 90's that I've blocked outta my memory so I bet those were even worse.
  22. So it basically cost about the same as original game but ain't stand alone game. It better have the content of the full game with that price. If not, I'll wait for some Steam megasales.
  23. This is what I'm talking about. You get almost infinine number of results, but story can still go horrible wrong if writer don't have excellent knowledge of history. Then again, if writer is poster child of some far out theory why something happend (there's tons of historians who have very weird ideas about WW1 and WW2 ), story can still go wrong because majority of the readers won't accept writers orginal arguments (no matter if those are correct or not). Franz Ferdinand is one of those things. I think majority of the researchers accept the possibility that WW1 would have happend anyway, even without the assassination.
  24. Probably too late for this project but iD's Rage and Id Tech5 engine allow very smooth vehicle segments. Actually with few modifications, Rage could be set in Fallout universe. Id tech5 and Rage Fuels can be made from just about anything and some engines are really primitive tech (steam, carbon monoxide ect ect) so there should be some working vehicles in Fallout.
