well, Bethesda does suck, in the last 12 years the only good thing they have done was releasing New Vegas

not economically. I was expecting a better NWN with Eastern European folklore instead of Tolkienesque medieval fantasy, and I didn't get that. instead I got an action RPG with soft porn elements. yes, if making memorable RPG experiences means folding in eventually. hence my balls comment. as a sidenote, this forum has the worst quoting mechanism ever

I actually agree with Volo, CDP does suck. for a company with so much money whey sure don't like to take risks when it comes to video games. it must've taken someone with huge balls to sign off on a game OTHER THAN the Witcher. they're pathetic, and I'm never buying anything from them after that fiasco the first Witcher game was

Chris Avellone needs to step in and take over twitter duties. we would then have his doodles at least

yeah, they have a lot of similarities. personally, I went through both L4D games once in coop and that was enough for me, but I know there are people who can keep playing the same missions over and over and not get tired of them. like my friend who has 1000+ hours in both L4D 1 and 2

I really wanted to like Payday 2, and it's a good game, but it gets repetitive fast. at some point you'll find yourself running Rats on overkill in an infinite loop trying to get enough XP to level up, the rest of your time will be spent doing quick runs of Jewelry Store to farm cards... after two weeks of this nonsense I gave up and unistalled. though, some new content was added a couple of months ago, so you'll probably last more than I did.

sending in riot police was what got Yanukovich in trouble in the first place. I sometimes wonder why Russian protests never get anywhere (it's against the law in Russia to protest without having proper papers signed by local government). one would think in cities like St. Petersburg and Moscow there would be a lot of young liberal activists willing to stick it to the Man. is it because they have the biggest police force? so they can just strangle any crowd with swarms of OMON? besides, when the country is falling apart it's a bit too late to send in the army to try and stitch it back together. nothing good could've come out of that. and since the new thugs in power support the most violent groups in their desperation anyway, the army would have to break all their ties with the government and stand with the people, protecting them from the nationalists. the new government isn't even a legitimate one. we don't know how Yatz got into his position, for all I know it could've easily been a coup, facilitated by the lawlessness in the capital. EDIT: according to Vice, it was the Right Sector rolling around in BMPs shooting at police in Mariupol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlSzewPMhD4

those aren't just rumors. I saw the deleted scenes, in a review of a restored version of Prometheus. and those scenes actually fill in the gaps in the story and character development that were so abundant in the theatrical release. so he (or the crazy editor) did remove important scenes to cut down on screen time

all Unreal games are on sale on Steam right now. Shadow Warrior is also on sale on Humble Bundle (its store)

come on. occupying government buildings in protest isn't a crime even, unless people try to vandalize said buildings. the simple act of occupation should register with those at the wheel, and it should initialize a process of negotiations. no government has the right to kill anybody. unless it's population control, in which case death penalty for the most hideous crimes would be more than enough. everything else is ****ing senseless. and if the protesters suddenly grab weapons and start shooting at the police, pacify them (the police has the means), try them and execute, in due process. funny thing is, in Ukraine often times the current government doesn't give orders to shoot their political adversaries and dissidents, it just looks the other way, while their plaything, the driving force behind the Euromaidan, kills people left and right in plain sight

I finally figured out what purpose Research serves: it lets me read manuals that add skill points to certain skills, which is flippin' awesome, especially for higher tier skills, where instead of buying that level 4 melee with XP you can just read a manual and get that point for free! and since my build doesn't need Research higher than 5 (I'm at 4 now), I will have both melee and brawl maxed out very soon thanks to my good friend Nines Rodriguez I'm beginning to appreciate the game's leveling system, it's simple and easy to follow, therefore you don't just dump stats into skills or abilities unknowingly, you know exactly what you will get out of them gameplay wise. combat is still ****, though. even after getting somewhat used to changing my directional key before every series of attacks I still can't quite get it to work, it's so hard to hit enemies with melee weapons, half of my swings just whiff by missing by an inch, so frustrating

uninstalled Wildstar, after having hit level 10 on my Settler. do not buy this game unless you're looking for something to get you off of WoW. for all intents and purposes it's exactly the same as WoW was 5-6 years ago. their new non-target combat system? well, I don't remember who told me it was non-target, it certainly isn't. it's exactly like combat in WoW, only you get an ability that is bound to your right mouse button with a very short cooldown that you can use while moving, that creates an illusion of an action game. and dodging enemies' AoE attacks? half the time dodge doesn't even work, and you get hit anyway. so much for combat. what about exploring? yeah, it offers some novelty compared to WoW (I keep bringing up WoW because in my eyes Wildstar was developed as WoW-killer from the start, it's like these developers never learn from others' mistakes), it's especially obvious when you play as Settler, obtaining access to Projects (stuff you can collectively build with other Settlers in quest hubs) which are essentially repeatable side-quests that offer other quests or events when completed - an interesting spin on the whole FedEx quest design template, but still as boring and tedious as ever. I don't even know why I expected something more from Wildstar... it was painfully obvious from the very first gameplay video they released. I guess I got tricked by their great trailers and good music (the music in this game is amazing, can't sing it enough praises). even flippin' Atlantica is more evolved, and that game is 4 years old (though, ultimately, boring and repetitive, as all MMORPG games are). I am so disappointed. I would've given this game a chance, because it clearly has high production values and puts an interesting spin on some of the usual "classes" and "jobs", but the clunky combat, awful camera, bad FPS on any settings other than minimal, and desync that leads to stuff like objects and NPCs disappearing underground or floating in mid-air, disabling you from interacting with them and essentially breaking the game - all of that made me realize I never wanted to play Wildstar again

that's pretty funny, because I think they are similar in tone and style precisely. of course, NV is a much deeper game, that's why I hate CoP so much
-
oh, it doesn't actually generate new names, simply copies the names you paste in
-
I thought they were very similar. well, not counting anomalies
-
did you name them?

Fallout NV?

according to YouTube the US currency is about to become worthless, and the government knows it can't prevent it, so they're (namely, the Department of Homeland Security) hoarding ammunition and preparing for an all-out civil war, that's why they've been militarizing their police force. which will soon (in the next couple of years). the bizarre thing is, a lot of Americans believe this, actually. they're preparing for war, also hoarding ammunition and supplies. and the government apparently has a procedure in place that flags such people as possible terrorists. couple that with the recent total crackdown on gun owners in several states, and an internal armed conflict becomes a possibility. it takes a couple of stupid cops abusing their power and a bunch of vigilantes retaliating to tip the scales
-
I've just noticed we don't have a thread for discussing the inevitable civil war in the US, btw did I just miss it, or nobody really cares about it? having been educated by YouTube on the subject, I now see the US dollar is about to crash, and the US government is preparing for its own Dollarmaidan

played Wildstar for a couple of hours, until I got kicked off the server. didn't like it much, but it has a few interesting moments that could transform into something cool (by MMO standards) in the future. the controls are awful, though. and it's not optimized, on my rig I have terrible FPS and freezes from time to time. and during cutscenes my PC sounds as if it's about to blow up

oh just today I watched a bunch of videos about season 6. well, maybe that's a good thing, no one can spoil it now.

I dunno, Black Hawk Down was pretty good, Matchstick Men was ok. you're being too hard on the guy
