watched a good documentary about the Detroit Fire Department. made a small trailer for it (uncensored, therefore NSFW) http://youtu.be/aWKyIK6khWg

holy crap, that looks so bad... animations are awful, and there's a disconnect between them and what actually happens to characters. this game needs more polish

that's my current setup, and I can hardly take on other vampires or big groups of thugs

I think it happened to me a couple of times, because I remember hiding bodies all the time and wasting hours on my stealthy sessions

looks like a lot of fun, what game is that?

out of combat Alpha Protocol is great. it would've benefited greatly if it had been made more like an RPG and less like a stealth shooter. in combat it's somewhat reminiscent of the latest Deus Ex game, they both suck in this department, but AP - even more so. actually, sometimes I think AP was the game that inspired DX: HR creators in a lot of ways.
-
actually, stealth kills are as cheesy as they are in DX: HR - even if a guy stands right next to your target but is facing in another direction, you can kill someone behind him and he won't notice.

here's an interesting video, some of the photos it has are really disturbing. maybe it's not 100% accurate, but still... food for thought http://youtu.be/fWkfpGCAAuw

good, I already can have it at 4 if I wish, but so far it hasn't been very useful for killing dudes. every time I press Feed while obfuscated my Malk just shoves them forward and reveals itself

I tried so hard to like Bastion, but the gameplay just didn't do it for me. wonder how Transistor will fare in that department

making my way through the Downtown area. there are a lot of things I like about this game. first, the fact that you can finish quests in a multitude of ways (looks like there's always three options: talk your way out, sneak your way out, murder your way out), and a lot of quests can be gotten in at least two ways, so even if you miss one quest trigger, you will most likely find the other one; a nice way of making sure players don't miss out on too much content even on their first playthrough. combat sucks, of course, especially the fact that it's so melee-heavy. but I like that you don't get XP for killing, only for completing quest objectives. so combat is optional save for the few exceptions (bosses). and this is where it begins to fall apart. I think, bosses should've been made a lot easier to fight, because combat was obviously an afterthought for the design team. and because the engine doesn't really make things easy on you to begin with. I'm really pissed about some quests being straight up wet jobs, with no way of avoiding fighting. the completionist in me is screaming in frustration. maybe I don't have to complete all quests as I come across them, though, just focus on the ones I can tackle and slowly level up my character. this isn't Deus Ex: HR after all, where you just have to finish off a hub before progressing.

oh, another name that makes me shudder whenever I hear it, David Lynch Twin Peaks is probably the best TV series ever, but some of his other work really confuses me. Mullholland Drive is a good example... now, to give you an idea: Werner Herzog - there's a director who knows his stuff, his work is excellent. and then there's Michael Haneke, some of his films are simply amazing. Trier has nothing on these two

oops wrong thread

hm, as they say in Russia, "I don't deal in **** so I wouldn't know". and, yes, the whole Dogme 95 shtick is lost on me, I don't like art-house movies to begin with, because they defy everything I like cinema for well, his earlier work was very fine, I'll give him that. but since Melancholia came out he's been making movies that are pretty much unwatchable: pace is borked, lots of inconsistencies, his message gets lost in all the noise... meh. he's lost to me as a director

holy crap, if Nymphomaniac is excellent in your world, I'm glad I'm not part of it (your world, that is). I won't call it a piece of ****, but it is a piece of ****

You have just informed me that I should never listen to your opinion. Good to know. not that I care, but you probably misread that post. again, language barrier. unless you think teen girls possess the ability to tell well-written language constructs from bad, good dialogue from bad, a firm grasp of language (all pretty hard to do at their age, since they don't know their own language good enough to detect bad writing)

it's amazing how many people disliked NWN2. I thought it was very good, I loved the characters, and some dungeons were fun. I even liked the combat in it!

couldn't disagree more. Witcher isn't a party based game, for starters. this alone makes it less appealing, imho. actually, now that I think about it, I have no fond memories from my times playing the Witcher. it must have been a terrible games in my eyes then, means I would actually hate it now, that my taste is more refined

I thought that thread was about TV news and reality shows, since I don't have a TV at home, TV series don't associate with TV in my mind talk about a misleading thread title

Twilight is not a cult series, it's a mainstream hit that teaches 14 y.o. girls about the wonders of being in an abusive relationship. there's nothing romantic about it. in fact, it's sickening to watch. and I'm sure the book is written horribly with as little skill as possible, you just can't appeal to teen girls with good literature. so, the Twilight series have no merits other than being a best-seller and a blockbuster. which only benefits its publishers and producers. is this what I should expect from all Bio romances in the future? the future is bleak then

with all that VtM Bloodlines business reminding me so much of DX: HR I couldn't resist and bought the DIrector's Cut from the Humble Bundle store (where it's currently at 75% off), I hope this particular version comes with all DLCs or something extra, because I'm not in the mood to just replay the original campaign yet

just google "Goon Squad gaming"
