Divinity II - The Dragon Knight Saga

and then, what are they left with? assassination/killing spree (which is essentially the same thing as a FedEx-quest, because you're required to bring something to the quest-giver). it's not a matter of the kind of quests, but how they're done. and, in my opinion, this particular one is an example of a very well thought-out quest. you don't just have to run there and back, you have to visit all of the locations first, possibly exploring their surroundings. not to mention that some of the stations had their very own quests. it took me a lot of time to complete it. I approached it as bonus xp for exploring places I would've visited anyway. but now I had a purpose. it was a good way to make the ranger stations useful (to counter the FO3's "a lot of places don't have anything, they're just there for the numbers" thing). EDIT: ah, C got there first

Divinity II - The Dragon Knight Saga
Risen wasn't very good. Two Worlds 2 seems to be slightly better, graphics (much better in this regard, actually), story and combat wise. the writing is awful in both games, though.

I'm amazed people actually wanted something more from that quest. the moment I got it I knew it was Obsidian's way of dragging me through the entire map, I played along. the quest works as it was intended.

Dragon Age 2
looks like Final Fantasy now

I envy you, C... enjoying one game for such a long time

Arcade desperately needs a Combat Armor in this picture

Dragon Age 2
I'll have to agree with you on this one. Dakkon's side-quest was fantastic. Morrigan's was horrible. I mean, I went both ways there and didn't see any difference (well, there was some difference xp wise, slaying the beast was a better choice, but the outcome stays the same no matter what you do)

Dragon Age 2
companions themselves aren't the problem, it's their personal quests, romances, gifts and all that jazz
-
Dragon Age 2
this is the epitome of awesome for any rpg, what kind of person would look down on this?

I think it's across the river vis-a-vis the abandoned Brotherhood bunker, I could never find it myself
-
Dragon Age 2
yeah, Final Fantasy VIII took that out of me
-
Dragon Age 2
right, probably Qara in my case. still, that makes 3. I heard some people lost 2/3 of their allies, how the hell did they manage to win?
-
Dragon Age 2
man, I only lost Neeshka and the paladin ****, still couldn't win that battle. replayed it 10 or so times, got really close the last time but for some reason couldn't destroy the sphere... I can't imagine beating the SL without the golem or my mages

that's what I think too, but people who play Sims keep proving otherwise.

Piracy
Volo, you're contradicting yourself

Dragon Age 2
two words: Epic Mickey
-
PARPG
so many attributes... it's going to be a bitch to balance. even Obsidian has problems with SPECIAL

FO: NV (General Discussion)
because it's easy to deduce what was written there from your possible replies. it's not a book, so I don't care how it was written. sure, I can miss a good joke or something, but it also saves me the frustration from reading a poorly written line (Two Worlds 2 is a perfect example) EDIT: oh, as for voiceovers, they're put into the game not to make the experience "cinematic" but to let people not read the text and pay attention to what's going on on the screen. while it's perfectly understandable in a cut-scene, making the dialogue fully voiced is just a waste of resources. and it does break my concentration when I'm actually reading the lines, so if there's no option to turn the voice off, I always skip the dialogue for the reasons stated above
-
FO: NV (General Discussion)
the problem is, voiceovers are part of the reason I tend to skip dialogue. it has nothing to do with the type of the game. you're misinterpreting my words
-
FO: NV (General Discussion)
exactly. I read the first 2 words of the dialogue and click, takes a second, more often I just click through 'til the answer options show up. usually characters don't even get a chance to say a single word. voiceovers are the biggest waste of developers' time and money

the PC in that video is somewhat on the creepy side

Dragon Age 2
actually, I couldn't agree more, that's good for a dungeon crawler but for an RPG... meh
