  1. he didn't lead the Oblivion team? hmmm
  2. that's right, had been posted here last month I think, Bethesda confirmed they would be using a modified version of Gamebryo not so long ago. maybe this is just a PR stunt?
  3. although, it's unlikely that this average gamer Joe played mostly solitaire for 12 years. well, I'd like to think so. at least, the fact, that they were "raised" on games that look 10 times better than those I had played 20 years ago, doesn't necessarily mean they don't appreciate a good indie game or an RPG with subpar graphics. New Vegas showed that people still buy complex games, that look dated just as willingly as they grab every single Medal of Honor game. and then there's WoW, that, in my opinion, looks terrible, but it doesn't stop people from playing it.
  4. I was hoping for some in-game footage.
  5. actually, I have played the first 2 or so hours of JE. but it seems to me, you and I have different criteria for judging games. in my eyes Bio's games, starting with NWN, are essentially the same, in different settings. but it's clear now, nobody here shares my vision, so no point in talking about it
  6. haha, C! I don't remember the Michael Jackson's video, but yours is great on it's own
  7. uhuh, because that's what I'm doing. pfft
  8. Volo, sometimes you sound like a BioWare executive anyway, since JE is pretty much a re-skinned KOTOR (which, in it's turn, is a re-skinned NWN, well, you get the idea), and pretty much every game BioWare makes is the same thing with a different set of textures, saying that JE2 will never sell better than DA3 (that's what you did just then) is like saying, that an oriental setting will never work in a RPG. only fantasy (with sci-fi being somewhere between the two)
  9. the only problem is, JE is a game like DA you're claiming oriental settings sell worse than fantasy. I beg to differ
  10. and Obsidian officially announced they're attached to a WoT project?
  11. I'm not saying anything I haven't already. they both play the same imho, different settings, similar mechanics.
  12. they're both platformers? I dunno, maybe you consider Uncharted 2 an action-RPG
  13. what is this Wheel of Time?
  14. well, they should just look at Torchlight or DeathSpank. very good games that don't have to be photorealistic for people to enjoy them. you're picturing a pretty shallow gamer, who doesn't care about the story or characters. you do remember what happened when Half-Life came out, right? it set a new standard for FPS games, it killed single player campaigns in Q3 and Unreal, which were always about graphics
  15. it is to me, go figure but I should mention, that I last played WoW in 2005
  16. I remember reading previews of Unreal even then I couldn't understand what the hype was all about. but I was never a FPS person (not counting Q2's DM1 ) we're trying to figure out why the production costs have gone up. hardware is pretty much where it's always been in terms of prices. marketing? most probably the biggest money-sink. salaries? well, of course you need huge teams now. and I'm not sure but I'm guessing the gfx have a lot to do with it
  17. BioWare should've hired you instead of the dummy(ies) responsible for ME 2-3 plot
  18. for some reason I was certain, Blizzard would make D3 exactly like D1, but in 3D and bigger. and they'd save the cartoony look for a Warcraft-themed action game. but of course they had to spoil everything
  19. no idea really, because the Reapers are suddenly hell-bent on destroying the human race (apparently, leaving the other races of the galaxy live in peace). I sense a universal plot against humans. the Reapers are just these big combines, made by the Council
  20. the original game was epic! also, the game's cinematic reminds me of Myth 2
  21. I think the point isn't that people can't afford to upgrade their PC to play new games. it's the fact that publishers have to spend 5 times the money to make games both interesting and visually appealing nowadays- and after that they have to face the fact that they need to ship 10 times the amount of boxes to recuperate , compared to 1998. for example
  22. oh, god... the battle for Earth... how much more cliche could it be
  23. well, naturally. same here, considering how many hours I poured into D2... I don't mind if the game is essentially the same but bigger. but these awful cinematic trailers, the spoken lines, obviously written by a nitwit, the WoW-like style... gah! just doesn't connect with me
  24. jeez, what's happening to Blizzard? first SC2 and now this... this awful... I can't even describe it. cliche after cliche, looks not like an AAA-whatever-title, but an indie-game. I hope it's humongous and has, like, 20 chapters compared to D2's 5
  25. do Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Shadow of the Colossus and Tomb Raider count?
