  1. Still its a lot better that what s*** Lords previews are hinting at, that just looks as bad fan fiction. True that SWKotOR also looked as fan fiction but worked at some level and remain true to Star Wars universe as dispicted in the movies, books and comics (even if they f*** up here and there) but s*** Lords looks like what was done with the V(B)org.
  2. It makes no sense to have the Jedi Order disbanded, the Jedi Order were the guardians of the Republic siince it was pretty much created, the jedi originaly come from Ossus. Also the "Jedi civil war" was already happened, the Sith was formed by the survivors of the lossing side that war.
  3. God ... someone needs to read Star Wars a little more if they make THAT story. As said the main temple is on Coruscant and there are small enclaves/temples around the galaxy, the Republic was never disbaned in their 25 000 years of existence and Malak never reached the Core worlds, he was playing around in the Rim worlds and Malak was no Palpatine that could make a "Jedi Purge". Trying to pull a DX:IW were they combined the DX endings in one will lead to the same disaster of DX:IW, the LS and DS endings are unworkable.
  4. Yes, also it would undermine Malak within the Sith structure since Malak claimed that Revan was dead to suport his role as Dark Lord of the Sith. What would happen if Revan status was made public was the Sith would be torn with Malak and Revan sides, many would look for Revan to join his side to rise on the Sith structure and so the Sith internal strife would be to a point were as a organization it would cease to fuction, Malak cover up was a cleaver move to prevent such situations from happening.
  5. Well FO:T implemented both RT and TB and did it right. Unfortunatly today there is a movement towards RT as if TB is "not cool" or some other crap, a point-in-case is FF X-2 that returned to ATB system but was so speed up that it removed the tactical aspect of combat.
  6. You are wrong, the republic remained the same since its creation to Palpatine taking over and creating the Empire. "Knights of the Old Republic" was simply a name given to a comic series, it meant nothing except to indicate it was about Jedi Knights before the Empire come to existence.
  7. No, Rastlin come about after the first Dracolance modules. Have I said I hate the Heroes of the Lance yet ... no? Well I do. I really dont know much about it but if not in error Dracolance predates FR as a published setting, DL was heavly influenced by the novels (even more that FR) and eventually was driven by it ... they must be around the 41537572th age by now looking how those autors appear to just write couple of book and then advance 100 years for the next book.
  8. I suspect that is Rastlin influence.
  9. Well you missed a lot, in MC salvage mechs depended if the mech was destroyed or not. I got a lot of clan mechs (and a Madcat early) because I ordered group target the head section that either killed the pilot or forced it to eject, make many missions easier that going around with Inner Sphere crap. Now the funny part ... Mechwarrior series come from a tabletop game.
  10. Sorry, that crap son. Tomb Raider serves as a GREAT example that the name alone does not sell, when TR became the same thing without inovations on plot or gameplay people drop it that is why TR:AoD failed, the fanbase moved away. Anyone that plays RPGs knows that D&D titles usually blow, they only try then after knowing more about it.
  11. Well the branch thing happens either because they are static models or because there is no vertcal axis. Its possible to make a branch break (or simply not block) on how the model is set. SWKotoR biggest failure was that it used the same engine design of NwN, there is no vertical axis on that game (dont be fooled by some models behavior in the game, that is easy to fake) and a lot of things could not be done, using that engine would be a step back on game design because of engine limitations and since there are better engines avaible ...
  12. The Aurora (NwN) and Odessy (SWKotoR) engine are not very good engines, you CANNOT jump using then since there there is only 2 axis on that engine. Best engine is the HAVOK engine since its adaptable and designed to be flexible.
  13. What? No... no... no ... In Tactics the BoS sends a team across the mountains using blimps to search for technology and after a storm they crash and are forced to be "hire-cops" to survive. The original Brotherhood are all decendents of a weapon research facility team, there are no disidents as in Fallout they take the very first member outside (most because they never belived s/he would survive) and in tactics they start to take outside people out of need. Also Vault 0 feels to be a separate storyline from FO2, as Tactics says Vault 0 was completed and so never used by the enclave.
  14. The Vault project was simply several tests for the enclave, the vaults were not intended to work as advertised. Take Vault 13 that was simply to contain test subjects for the enclave bioweapon (that was to kill all mutants and that also meant humans that were radiated) and the water chip was in fact a accident, other vaults however had created accidents that served as tests (some had a all male population, others open too soon, etc ...). So Vault 0 could only served a enclave control center for the vaults (however it does not make sense since the enclave simply taken over it when they come out of the oil rig vault) but the war was started by the enclave and vault 0 was unfinished, as a enclave diversion Vault 0 could work except it was simply too funtional to my taste, I suspect the developers of tactics simply ignored the Enclave role in the Vault project as stated in FO2. However, the biggest issue people taken was the Brotherhood of Steel but Tactic did stated that the Brotherhood changed since they cut from their bases and so there was a diference of then and the original Brotherhood.
  15. Well it was not Fallout 3 and it did clash with Fallout lore a bit with that Vault 0 stuff. Also it was a pure combat game, one of the good things about Fallout is that we could take a non combat option to most quests.
  16. An old man turned ninety-eight He won the lottery and died the next day It's a black fly in your Chardonnay It's a death row pardon two minutes too late Isn't it ironic... don't you think? It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take Who would've thought... it figures Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down he thought "Well isn't this nice..." And isn't it ironic... don't you think? Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you When you think everything's okay and everything's going right And life has a funny way of helping you out when You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up In your face A traffic jam when you're already late A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife It's meeting the man of my dreams And then meeting his beautiful wife And isn't it ironic... don't you think? A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think... Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out Helping you out
  17. The less I see from the s***ty SWKotOR engine, the better. Not that matters much, everything on SWKotOR except engine and code is own by LucasArts. Wrong, Hasbro (and TSR -They Sue Regulary- before) are and its a diferent deal since electronic rights belong to Atari as ALL Star Wars licenses belong to Lucas companies, even the Star Wars PnP RPGs have the little "LucasBooks" logo. Point is BioWare have no involvement of Star Wars games besides of any that LucasArts decides to have BioWare develop, they are not needed as Id software (creators of the Quake 3 engine) was not needed for Jedi Knight Outcast/Academy if the next Star Wars game was using a BioWare engine. Irrelevent. That press release was so vague they could be join working on a Sakura Card Capture spin off hentai game.
  18. Atari is publishing PAL .Hack// series so I hardly consider they got their hands "burn" by RPGs. I serious doubt its SWKotOR 2 simply because they all point at BioWare giving it to OE and we all know that Star Wars NEVER leaves Lucas companies and last time I checked its BioWare not LucasBioWare ...
  19. No, but they lately have the "we know best" attitude on their replies that really piss me off. And sorry but BioWare QA is bad, console games sould NEVER ship with game ending script problems and fact remains SWKotOR had, not to say that latest patch messed around things it sould not. And no, I dont own a Xbox and so its highly unlikely that I would play Jade Empire.
  20. I would, its not too hard with those eyes and hair style.
  21. No, I was looking foward to SWkotOR because I seen NwN as a lesson that BioWare had learn and see NwN failures as of a unfortunate set of circustances (Interplay deal going down and Atari setting a deadline). Of course I was not really following SWKotOR until around the Xbox release were I started to have doubts. SWKotOR is a good game, just not a good RPG due to mechanics and interface problems. Of course if you pick up a Star Wars d20 manual you dont see stuff that BioWare made up, stuff like +5 blasters dont exist but customized blasters that have a +1 to hit do, other is the "gear head" feat family that does not exist, only a feat called gear head. Anyone with the Star Wars d20 books can see that BioWare copy and pasted a lot from there but did not adapted to their rule changes, for example holdout blasters deal less damage but are easier to conceal so why on Earth they are present in SWKotOR with the damage penalty as there is no rules to hide weapons on their system. I dont hate BioWare but lately their attitude towards players is very diferent from back in BIS forums, heck I beta for Dave improved fights but that does not mean I sould have a problem in saying to him that Derkin gets old REAL FAST to me. They are not gods, heck Sawyer taken a lot of crap from me because I wanted demihuman deities choices in IWD2 after they were done, he taken it rather well. Do I exaggerate and lie when I say BioWare rush down the game when there were game ending issues in the Xbox version of SWKotOR ... have they patched it for Xbox users yet? They can you know ... using XBox live. BioWare QA is bad and LucasArts QA is as equal bad but unfortunatly we live on a time were game publishers release a game with well known issues just to patch it less that a week after release. I already stated I will not buy Jade Empire, yes I would love to see a RPG set in ancient China or Japan but Jade Empire will simply not do for that in my taste.
  22. Up to a point, you can simply switch to another party member. It uses the d20 system ... you know HOW many system uses d20 system without it being related to D&D? D20 modern, Call of Chutulu and Star Wars d20 3 diferent system so no, you have no idea of what you are talking about except if you are saying that SWKotOR used elements of D&D that simply created balance issues (with will be true). No, it does not. if you scrap the magic system you still have a playable system and the only problem is if something from the magic system is still in there, that can create problems but it sould be easy to spot in QA (of course BioWare QA is ... EA related). BioWare decision to make that system was bad, +3 blasters were a stupid idea along with other stupid ideas that really dont belong in Star Wars universe but its because BioWare was lazy and used their D&D knowledege for a Star Wars game with the results we can all see. And sorry people in Star Wars USE diferent weapons for diferent situations, Solo used a lightsaber to open a TanTan belly as a example. Right ... and how you can make such cllaim unless you are a BioWare staff menber imvolved in SWKotOR development and even if you are BioWare they already made false claims, just look at their replies about NwN to see examples of that.
  23. I dont think so, a common complain was that Malak was too easy but then again most players are offline. Also people like me liked IE combat, even NwN combat that lacks a tactical control is better that SWKotOR due to having more options and a more balanced system. Problem with SWKotOR is that we have Taris that does require some "hands ons" control by the player and Dantooine/1st world that still required some control, after those parts combat became more and more "click and watch" that anything else. Class balance is another issue.
  24. True but I point out that in Star Wars d20 lightsabers are more letal since they ignore armor, also acording to Star Wars d20 rules unless those star forge droids have levels in a heroic class all damange done to then would be wound damage and they would go down in 2-3 hits if they had a Con score of 10.
