The Last (Court) Battle of GamerGate: Feminists Lost, Free Speech Won

Did that really amount to anything? I thought all gg related startups ended their life at beta.- 115 replies

It's more of a Japanese take on western action-RPG. Interesting oddity but sadly quite flawed.

In Poland actually. 300 - 400.000 estimated, hard working, making a better future for them and their families, making no problem for fellow Slavs. Actually more went to Russia. And even in Poland there is a clear sentiment that men are not welcomed.

Only if you dumped BIOS from your console. Torrenting it is still piracy.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/dec/12/james-hansen-climate-change-paris-talks-fraud He is advocating stronger changes and enforceability. He certainly doesn't support the idea that climate change is a hoax. And citing the guardian is a bit ironic since Hansen has been called a 'new denier' just recently for support of nuclear power.

Pushing your own agendas is a great way to weaken any agreement. For now EU greentech solutions cannot move past intermittency limitation and they can hardly cry foul if China or India chooses to develop their own. China is certainly pushing a expansion of it's nuclear industry but by now almost all technology is based on French/American/Japanese designs. Russia may still be a major player in nuclear R&D but finding clients for reactors is becoming politically problematic.

They're modernizing by building one coal power plant after another. They're modernizing by expanding all energy production, dirty and clean. And that's to be expected from a developing country. Overall China's direction is for now pretty reasonable considering their economic potential and low per-capita emissions. The difference this time is that every big player signed so it will be much harder to pull a Canada. Of course some countries may attempt a pull-out but there is now a better chance than even that they will be stigmatized for doing so. The targets and pledges system is indeed nonsensical but you can't move on to something better until consensus for action is established.
-
You right that numbers from China are unreliable but you can only fudge the data so far before you get caught. In fact China was called out on their coal consumption reports recently. And they are slowly modernizing their energy sector so things should steadily improve. When it comes to developing countries India is far bigger problem.

COP 21 talks in Paris have actually reached an agreement. Of note is that this time voluntary pledges are up for verification every 5 years. Other than that we are apparently hoping to limit warming to 1,5°C while planning for 2°C but polluting for over 3°C.

Wendelstein 7-X achieves first plasma. No, it's not a German terminator sent from the future.

System Shock 3 by OtherSide Entertainment (ex-Looking Glass devs)
pmp10 replied to Infinitron's topic in Computer and Console
They are about a year away from finishing Underworld Ascendant. I love SS2 but this doesn't inspire confidence. -
I'd call this plan idealistic if it owned up to massive sacrifices required. But trying to sell enormous social and economic costs as benefits is something else entirely. And it's a real shame as he was in the perfect position to speak some sense on climate change.

He is seriously pushing a 100% renewable plan? And they say republicans have monopoly on nutcases.

OPEC just decided to set no extraction limits for the future. Putin might have to behave for just a while longer.

Capra Demon was the reason, why I stopped to play DS ( I played as pyromancer and was unable to stay alive in the room more than 5 seconds... after few hours, I just quit the game for good... I had very close to Demon's Souls platinum, and not a single boss on NG+++ were so annoying and depressing for me than this one :-/ I actually never played DS1 that far (burned out on many hours of playing DS2), but I think I've heard you can beat him with throwing firebombs into the arena without actually being in the arena? There is a small ledge in the back of area that sometimes allows attacking without being hit. Any other game would class that as a exploit.

Just as some fans would bash Fallout 3 for it's graphics but found no wrong in New Vegas. It's all about the developer.

Paradox Interactive Acquires White Wolf Publishing

I doubt that Obsidian can deliver production values expected of first person games. Unless Paradox is willing to invest in the project we will likely get another nostalgia cash-grab. -
PoE sells 500K units
pmp10 replied to Eisenheinrich's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not to bright pun aimed ad personam. There are clear standards to decide objectively if the game was successful. Taking budget in to consideration 500.000 units sold is not a success for PoE. How do you know that? I don't have much stake in the *argument.* Of course, I *want* PoE to have done well in terms of sales and sustainability, but the argument of whether it has or not isn't particularly important to me. I figure if it has, we'll know by what Obsidian *does.* However, from the point of view of folks saying 500k is a success or a failure in light of budgeting, how do people know? We can't tell if Poe was a success, but we can compare it to the competition. And we know that Wasteland 2 managed similar numbers despite lower KS budget, smaller names and worse reception. -
Armored Warfare claimed over 500k signups so numbers could be good but looking at match queues and game quality I doubt it will be profitable in the long run. Especially since they are trying hard to undercut World of Tanks.
-
Kickstarter for Pillars 2 is almost a given if only because HBS and Larian already got away with crowdsourcing their sequels. But without any reliable sale numbers from the White March we have no basis to speculate about future of the franchise.

PoE sells 500K units
pmp10 replied to Eisenheinrich's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If Pillars sales are in the same range as Wasteland 2 then that's not a good news for Obsidian. But this sounds more like a off-hand remark. -
Not too sure about this one. Shadowrun was worth it only for the writing. A strategy focused game doesn't play to their strengths.

The whole secession debate seems strange to me. The only reason it happened in 1861 was the heavy investment southern elites had in slavery. What economic gain could Texas hope to achieve with secession?

Might as well ask why is this outrage happening only now. Mass panics are a funny thing.

Poor choice of start date. The ending of Divinity 2 campaign may steal all the attention.
