  1. Don't rightly know, I'm not an economist - but I don't like to gamble either. And I've yet to loose track of a game I've lended to someone, or misplaced/broken any CD's. It's not that bad, I've gotten most of my old DOS games working, although I have'nt tried it on this specific computer yet. The Steam library might do it automatically, but there are strings attached. For instance; I've lost track of the number of games I've bought and sold second hand. If I buy a Steam game and I am displeased with it, I'd have to sell my account with the game aswell (Wich the TOS does'nt allow. Pricks.) or just plain keep it.
  2. Granted, but I still have the physical copy - wich I am quite certain will last longer than your Steam copies. Wich I did touch at in my previous post.
  3. Sure, as a medium for buying low-cost games it's unbeatable. But I don't want to rely on something as untangible as an digital library when it comes to money I invested into my entertainment library, especially if I pay 500 sek per game, considering I earn(ed) roughly 9000 sek a month. There is no certainty that Steam will stay alive for aslong as i have had many of my physical games; Hell, many of the companies of my favourite games are long since dead ( Some developers at Obsidian are from those companies), but I still have my physical copies. And if Steam collapses, there is no real guarantee that the games you bought will be available to you afterwards in the same way. That and I hate the forced updates it "provides" me with. Edit; The DRM part is also a source of annoyance, though compared to what I wrote before it's somewhat minor - as DRMs go that is. Edit 2; Flood control is also a source of annoyance to me right now.
  4. I'm more concerned about the fact that you don't actually "own" the product you've payed solid money for. Physical copies makes so much more sense, and gives you a greater sense of ownership and security.
  5. Great, now I'm reminded I need to see that movie sometime aswell. Specially since I don't really get any connection from watching the video.
  6. Indeed, and I liked the thought of them containing "fallout" instead of snow, but then again - I'm a sucker for double entendres.
  7. I could'nt care less about Bethesda, Obsidian is of greater importance to me. But what you said is good to hear atleast, I don't want to lose access to my favourite developers games. Damn Naziworks! There; Godwin's law fullfilled.
  8. I'm more concerned about Steamworks than what texture the collectibles in the game uses. I hope it does'nt weasel it's way into their other games.
  9. Followed it through gaming mags, read some about it over the internet, said it would contain; C&C, not a fantasy or sci-fi setting, and it being Obsidian that developed it made me want to buy it. I went and bought it a few hours after I read PCGamers review on it that alleviated any fears I had about it being a buggy mess of bugs.
  10. The minigames could've been made optional with a skillcheck of sorts, would've preferred that myself, they are'nt especially challenging in most cases - just tedious.
  11. Wich is a mixed blessing for me as a PC Gamer, but it's bad for Obsidian considering consoles are a big market. Alpha Prophylaxis, sounds like a good game to me.
  12. Bah, screw Fem!Shep! But I do know what you mean, yeah. Even though I wholeheartedly dislike ME2. Hard to see the whole picture of sales since we can't get hold of Steam sales, don't think those are included in VGChartz are they?
  13. While I hate the idea of a DLC, a female protagonist would be nice, yeah - if I'm going to sneaky, sneaky around looking at someones bottom I'd really prefer it to be a female one! ;P And Jennifer Hale is an excellent voice actor. With a sexy voice. Mmm...
  14. How do you mean? They're pretty much mutually exclusive, can't have 'em both as I see it.
  15. Heh, ouch, does'nt do much good for their credibility in my eyes I have no doubts there are exceptions to the rule though. I like the Swedish PCGamer team, many "oldtimers", quite a few of them that's been there for over a decade now. Good writing, reasonably objective aswell.
  16. Would have to be some optional hardcore mode I reckon, I don't think most people would find that very entertaining - but I like the id
  17. True, but Mass Effect had more of it, whatwith all the biotics. Clearinghouse. You can also get some extra gadget slots from it.
  18. Don't know if he's Brittish or American, but Rich McCormick gave it 81% in PC Gamer, similar as Joakim Bennet gave Fallout 3. 81% is perfectly acceptable to me for this game, I'd set something similar asmuch as I love the game itself.
  19. The only gaming reviews I generally speaking pay any kind of attention to is those that are actually printed. They typically have higher standards, while just about any clot can become a reviewer for online sites (Or so it seems).
  20. Don't remember the quote perfectly, but... "C'mon Mike, just imagine it's pudding... a big bowl of cocolate pudding - *Gagging noise* - .. that smells like poo-gas."
  21. Remind me again. Because ME2's AI was very simplistic (KILL KILL KILL!) and I don't recall physics being used for... well... ANYTHING. You can already buy upgrades for them in the shop. They certainly made the feel of ME2's combat better, but then again they completely ditched the RPG mechanics to do so and ditched the RPG feeling of it. Just plays like any of those (to me) crappy TPS games out there. Yeah, was'nt much better than the previous games on the AI department. As for physics... Ragdolls? Unless I remember it entirely wrong ( game crashes on alt-tabbing :< ) if you put points into the technology tree you do some "extra customizing" on your weapons and armor. I think the areas that need most improvement as of now is bugfixes and improving the AI scripts. And making SMG's useable in 1 gun configuration, instead of aikimbo, and improving the AR skill for PC (hate how you loose your lined up critical shot if you move the mouse..)
  22. A sequel would be really nice, I'm loving this game, though I do hope they don't listen to too many of the complaints about the game, some of them (from reviewers) have been damn right stupid. Some reviewer wrote "It's not fun to have maths dictate wether or not I hit something, that's not fun!" wich is a downright foolish remark when reviewing a RPG. Please, please don't go the ME2 road! I would'nt mind this at all, but at the same time I'd prefer them to keep it simple, possibly more missions/locations aswell. Building an interesting city would take them alot of time and resources I reckon, possibly too much. I do like the idea of more social "mingling" missions and wiretaps though. Don't think they need to overdo it though, what with toiletbreaks and all. But they should impove it, no doubt about that, and perhaps have some more random patrols on higher difficulties aswell. AI reacting to dark and light areas in the same way as the Thief games perhaps? I would prefer if you had some amount of control of your assistance, instead of them going in on their own, coordinating your attacks so to speak. I myself don't mind terribly if they keep things simple here, it's more important to balance the allready existing skills better than they are, and polishing it up a bit better. Better menu's, perhaps adding a few more looks to the mods of your weapons (I.e. reflex/laser-sights and scopes looking the part, and not as a scope with a reflex sight) I would'nt mind if they use the existing engine as is, with just a few bugfixes - I just want to have another game like this one. Not for them to make an "Beta Protocol" that is to Alpha as ME2 is to ME1.
