  1. It's like the later Wizardry games. (Wizardry 8 is prominently featured on the Kickstarter page) Sadly, I don't think they are digitally available.
  2. That's now more than a decade ago. Let it go and/or at least give him another chance. (He apologized for it to, more or less) Furthermore (if it calms you): 1. He isn't the Project's Lead 2. Aside from the giant misstep that was Daikatana he was a pretty decent designer.
  3. That seems to be written by the interviewer and that guy was wrong before (Like saying they made Baldur's Gate)
  4. 7 actually. And with the spike I expect towards the end prepare to be surprised. (You can totally call me out on it if I'm wrong) =)
  5. Serious question: How many of you guys played Anarchranox? Edit: Not meant as an insult. But, rather if you didn't you should totally pick it up. Edit2: (The same counts for Wizardry 8 and Jagged Alliance 2)
  6. That's been around for a while and is from the codex. Made during the first day.
  7. I disagree on that Brenda Brathwaite has a really long history with Wizardry (though she mainly designed/wrote on Wizardry 8 and was a writer on Jagged Alliance 2). Tom Hall is a widely respected game developer and Anarchranox counts as an extraordinary rpg (and one of the most creative) of all time. Both actually have a longer game development experience than Sawyer or Avellone.
  8. That's not really going to be all that accurate. Especially as we go more towards the end due to the unpredictable spikes in the last days. Nice nontheless
  9. If you look at the graph you will immediatly notice one effect of Obsidian's update campagin. Obsidian has managed to keep pledges up during it's entire campagin so far, without really slowing down drastically.
  10. They have popped up from time to time in threads, but I think we should really have a thread for them to improve visibility. So, that people get a better understanding where we stand compared to Double Fine Adventure and Wasteland 2 They are made by the forum member Fermun over at the Something Awful forums where Sawyer regulary posts Pledges Backers
  11. DFA was literary, *I want to do a Adventure* Wasteland 2 was literary, "I want to do another Wasteland" Project Eternity was literary "We want to do a spiritual successor to the IE games* Nothing else was really known. I was around for the first days of everyone of them. And again, they didn't "just copy paste*. They most likely saw that Obsidian's design worked and asked them to use it. The only one who has a right to be THAT upset about this is Obsidian themselves. Not you. There's no logical reasoning here. For both wasteland and PE that bit of info gives you a ton of context as to what exactly it is their developers want to achieve. "Old school RPG" is a lot more vague and can mean lots of things. Well Wizardry. They just didn't spell it out as much and not clear enough.
  12. What? You're paying waaaaaay too much attention to the comparison between new school and old-school than his actual point. He even adresses it in the last sentence. It's just his way of explaining what he means, even if it's disagreeable.
  13. That comparison,.... doesn't really make sense? I think he said more *Please carter equally to apples and oranges* Which I support
  14. Which still wasn't anything to really go on. And I don't have anything against it if your holding back your pledge because of it. Your money. But, that doesn't mean that you should rally against them because you somehow feel justified in doing so. It's the individual's decision if these things are enough for them to back something. However if you want to provide them with actual contstructive critisism. That's good. @Wintersong: It sounds like a *spiritual succesor* to Wizardry from the current Kickstarter page.
  15. Also, I'm not saying there's nothing to critizize. There's a lot to critizize. The pitch video wasn't great and they needed to present some more general information. The *Old-School Fantasy Sci-Fi First Person RPG* should have been there from the beginning.

  17. Uhm, yes and no. Yes, they deserve credit. Absolutly. I myself went crazy over the colin mccomb announcement for Wasteland 2. But you make it sound like Chris only wrote the main story, which isn't the truth at all nor what they said. He did do by far the majority. (Maybe I just misunderstand your point) Colin McComb: Avellone had at least a broad outline of the entire game from start to finish, with all of the major characters sketched out, by the time I’d joined the team. The rest of the design team added minor characters, stuff not exactly crucial to the main quest, and other fun stuff, and fleshed out the stuff he couldn’t get to. Avellone is a madman, I’ll tell you that – it was only with the greatest regret that he passed off Fhjull and Trias to me, and I heard him weeping bitter and solitary tears in his office when he assigned the Brothel to Dave Maldonado. Colin McComb: I hate to say it again, but Chris did the major work on the game. I would estimate that although he had seven designers on his team, he did about 50% of the work on the project. Keep in mind that he did all this while he was working on Fallout 2 as well. The man is truly prolific. Working with the Torment team was incredible. It was really a fantastic bunch of people. We all did the very most we could to help each other out, to make each area as good as it could be, and to incorporate as many ideas as we could. Eric Campanella, one of our artists, came up with a pile of crazy and creepy monsters, and we made up some names and stats for them and threw them into the sewers.
  18. That was clear from the beginning. Even before that as it was specifically said in a interview by Avellone himself.
  19. And they still have time to do so. What were Project Eternity's, Wasteland 2's and especially DFA's ideas at the beginning?
