Sure, I clearly overlooked all that Mass Effect subtext, like...

    like....

    like....

Scrap that, It's pretty much a B-Movie in space. One hell of a B-Movie, but still a B-Movie. What in the world are these people smoking?

  2. That's quite likely.

Seems a lot of people are having trouble reaching good ending as well.

When a little out of a box thinking is required the whole "game" facade comes crashing down.

Not really out of the box thinking. It's really straightforward in execution and just needs a little reading comprehension. There are other narrative related things in the DLC that need way more thinking.

    This is kinda sad actually.

  3. Most of the problems I have with Cages writing that it seems like that he writes like a talented 13 year old. Big potential but at the same time extremly childish and prone to thousand of beginner faults.

It just shows on the female charachters (which are always beyond horrible) the non-existant romance/akward sex scenes (I love you for no reason so suddenly like 5 minutes after I actually really got to talk to you/I love you though our only interactions were when I patched you up and from some sort of obsession I have with my current story. Oh yes, let's have sex while your son drowns!!!) and the overdriven and unfinished plot threads.

Also he has a obsession with showers.

A biiiiiig creepy obsession with showers.

So, is the bald girl as much of a stereotype as I think she is?

    Hahaahaha.

    A stereotype? A stereotype.

You have no loving idea. I'm not even going to go into it, because she's one of the best-written characters I've seen in forever. Her dialogues are sublime, I'm talking Planescape-level awesome, and you guys should all experience her for yourself.

  5. Some cryptic DLC info supposedly from a Focus Tester at Something Awful

Can you say what those ghost things are and why they're hostile how they are made?

The ghost people are hostile for the same reason everything else in the Mojave is hostile- because gently caress you, I want your stuff. vv

As for how they're made, let's say the haze in the sky isn't dust and leave it at that.

Please tell me that ghoul wearing the tux and authority shades is one of the people you're forced to work with, and that he acts as awesome as he looks.

He is, he does, and the best part is that almost all of you have already seen him playing through new vegas, though perhaps in a decidedly more aesthetic version.

So is the nightkin's name Dog?

You mean the one with "Dog" carved into its chest? Well... sort of.

  6. The Fallouts were never about having a strong story (or narrative) though. It's always been barebones, leaving more room for the player to create the story through affecting the wasteland and so forth. That's what's nice about it, not being forced into non-interactive situations all the time.

    Nope, I disagree.

The Fallout Games were about having a strong lore (that got sadly mutilated several times over the years) and focus their narrative not on the main plot itself but on the wasteland, its population and society.

All these things still belong to the narrative. All these things still are an indicator for good writing.

  7. Maybe there had been a breach in the reactor room for a long time but it was never reported because the bored technicians taught it was fun to shoot radroaches. Not to mention James & Jonas thought it would be a good idea to set them loose to cover their escape.

    ...

Okay, I stated my point. If this idea isn't illogical I don't know what is

    I'll drop it.

And yes, good idea to set them loose. **** all the other people that die, right? As uninvolved as they are.

Edit: Sorry sounded like a personal attack at first.

  8. Security probably could have handled the roaches if they weren't too busy beating up and shooting their own people. Radroaches are killing people! Hurry lets pound on Jonas! That'll fix things.

    1. Not all Security beat Jonas up thats ridiculus. Furthermore since the rats came in when James Security were nearly all on their posts. The torture happened AFTER the rats came in logically.

Which makes the whole thing even more stupid.

    2. Security should be able to handle them. Yet they failed. Why?

  9. I always took it that the radroaches were there anyhow and the rats came in when he opened the door to leave.

Yeah, like I said Number 1. The vault is a contained area. Mutated Coackroach = Serious Breach. The consequences of something like this make it extrem serious. This should not happen. And absolutly not taken as comically lightly as Jonas and James did.

Number 2: Then I suppose everyone just opened all these doors nicely for the rats. And I guess they had some secret holy plan to get in as soon as the door opened so that the lot of em surely are in before it closes again. Yes.

Furthermore if it was like that it makes James just as guilty because he would have known what would happen.

  10. Fallout 3s beginning was awful. Like everything about it was so badly written that I couldn't stand it. 90% of it didn't make a lick of sense.

Also as soon as I left the vault I had no desire to find my father except to shoot him. After all, since I don't suppose that rats just magically appear he led them in there. Which also makes him quite frankly a killer. And he betrayed Jonas. $

Also he gave me a gun. To shoot something that shouldn't be there in the first place. INFACT its a MAJOR security issue. Think about all the possible problems like Reproduction, possible disease.

But hey apparently Science Dad is totally cool about it. Its target practice.

    Yeah.....

    Hahaha

    HAhahaHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Arggggggh, I shouldn't think about it too much.

    The memories

  11. That makes little sense.

Obsidians whole MO was to make sequels to various publishers IPs.

How much rpgs sequels/spin-offs can Zenimax need?

Outsourcing one game in fallout/elder scroll series is one thing, acquiring whole three-project studio is completely another.

How is that Obsidians whole MO?

It's kinda the role they are bound to because of their status as an independet company and the whole thing how they started out (considering they got K2 and NWN through Bioware). Pitching original ideas to publishers only gets harder as time progresses.

But its not like they don't want to do another.

  12. I'm on a Win7 64bit high end PC. After installing 1.10 patch, Alpha Protocol crashes seconds after I press play. I've tried re-installing, and it didn't help.

Could be that I'm installing the wrong version - I'm in Denmark and I'm using the US install. However, the EU version won't install (says it can't patch AP.exe).

Extract the EU install with Universal Extractor

    http://legroom.net/software/uniextract

Then Replace the AP exe with the extracted one.

    Done.

  13. WASD and mouse are not working in game.. in the game menu, inventory and skills so on... mouse works fine

AlsoI can move around using the arrow keys, mouse works in menu's and mini games and so on. its only when im to move Thornton around, that i cant...

    any takers?

    + i dont have a joypad connected.

Did you by chance apply any ini tweaks?

The forums here are community help by the way. Alpha Protocol is even more of a special case since SEGA (the publisher) has given up on it as well. And without SEGA Obsidian can't even give out more patches.

  14. When I posted some questions that Alvin Nelson responded to, he said the game was in pre-alpha, so a March release seems unlikely. I'm thinking August-November would be most likely.

Not really, he meant the version they showed was pre-alpha. Yet, this was the same demo that journalists saw in August. Furthermore a build shown to the public is usually a tested older one.

So, we can assume they are quite a bit further with the game.

  15. ah, damn - I was hoping there were some solutions for you in there.

Only solution would be a PATCH to fix the NUMEROUS bugs that have been widely reported for this game.

Patches are worked on. A big one is coming soon and the worst (technical) issues are already fixed.

And also just for Knigge. It's not exactly nice to answer like this if the people here are all answering polite and understanding to your problems.
