RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
That doesn't really excuse terrible execution and plotholes en masse. But yeah, HR > Fahrenheit

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
I think your and my definition of "soul" is a little different. First off, the whole gameplay is just a continuation from Fahrenheit and only consists of hunders of QTEs. Really? Thats the future of gaming you want? Great! And no I'm not impressed by the C&C in the slightest. Have seen better before that. Same for the story. Similiar concepts are around in gaming before. In Adventures too. Also David Cages problem isn't (only) that he is pretentious. Its that he is an offensivly bad writer with the mind of a teenager (Which is also why he includes all the unessecary and retarded stuff like ARI). And hes pretentious.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
I have a theory on that. I suspect that it's not too subjective, it's just interpreted differently. The physiological response between two people can be identical, but they may label it differently. One would call it tension, the other could call it fear. I'd be very interested in seeing research on this subject. Of course it can be identical. Its still subjective. Hard. And this isn't exactly mysterious and needs a lot of research to be backed up. To name the most obvious (and with biiiiig influence) thing that makes this whole thing subjective: Childhood Traumas.

Horror is a very, veeeeery subjective thing. If you find something scary is based on tons of things that are different from person to person.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
Actually a lot of people play the Wii. Very few people buy games for the Wii, because there simply aren't a lot of games and because a large part of the Wii install base is not the type to buy core games.. or games indeed, with the exception of stuff like Zumba fitness. The WII also has some exceptional titles, though. Like Xenoblade now. Probably one of the best JRPGs ever.

As much as I'd like that too. Thats a pretty obvious sequel hook. Otherwise agree.

Why does that matter who wanted to do it action based in the first place? DS isn't exactly the most tactical franchise and both Obsidian and Square were in agreement to do it action based. Its not like this is another Alpha Protocol situation.

If something was up to Square Enix, it's probably the multi-platforms development and nothing more specific. The rest was the team at Obsidian's idea. Not exactly. Read the first interview again. Scope and Focus was very much determined by Square Enix. On that note it seems to me Square Enix wanted to create a base for future DS titles with DSIII rather than go full out with the content. At least thats what I'm getting out of this quote.

Deus Ex 3
Well, the devs themselves are pretty seasoned. The game is a combination of having good devs and beeing able to go all out. That has happened now twice this year (Witcher2) so hopefully this will also be a sign to publishers to work on a better basis with dev studios.

Also since the majority of the game consists of action based combat it should be statisfying and fun. Since Obsidians and partybased gameplay is rather horrible (no offense) on that point Obsidian took that route to provide satisfying core mechanics. Even on PC, satisfying party based real time combat mechanics you would actually enjoy as a majority of a game are more of an exception than a rule.

Why not make a comedy game?
If this is meant as a negative. The "british" humor in Fable (while its hit and miss at times) isn't one of the games problems.

BREAKING NEWS: Expanded impressions - this game isn't half-bad!
Nothing, the games just as good as other Obsidian Games and at least superior to NWN2/SOZ. And thats pretty objectivly so. It doesn't focus as much on it. Thats true. But the quality of the writing itself was good. Its also pretty hypocretical since sooooo many people ranted against Cesars Legion/Cesar regarding the "greyness" of the charachters. Jeyne on the other hand is in a perfectly grey area and completly avoids the moustache twirling stereotype. Probably as one of the first main antagonists in video gaming ever. Edit: To be fair though. Except for some brilliant moments the Dialog itself was pretty standard and didn't stand out that much.

Well, thats really easy Your 1 hour opinion of the game still isn't applicable to the whole of humanity. Wiiiiild theory though, I know. Also its still in Steams play statistics (Above Homefront and close with F.E.A.R 3) so its not really that "dead" at the moment.
