Honestly though, TB would work miles better on handhelds than RTWP. The "one more turn" effect is immense there and you can easily fit the gaming sessions in downtimes during the day without getting into stress.

Agreed. The other archons do have a bit of the voice echo effect (like they're speaking in a very tiled-bathroom...) but Anjali has a word for word pacing delivery that I find somewhat.... off putting. I'm not sure if the VO actress did it deliberately or if her line readings were altered later, but to me it's fairly lifeless, and as mentioned, mechanical. Rajani (and even the Stonebridge automotons) have more emotion/pitch delivery pacing, imo. Anjali does....not. heh. Could still be a character "thing", but even if you take out the "echo", the cadence to the words is monotone in nature. Think of how questions sound when ppl don't raise their voice slightly on the last syllable/word of the question. If she was largely raised by Odo/humans, you'd think she would have picked up some humanish speaking habits/accent. For me the poor voice acting on Anjali took away most of the personality she should have. In her dialogue lines, it seems she is the "avenging" type . So I expected her to have a strong, quite agressive speaking, but her voice is quite emotionless. Uhmmmmm, that has absolutly nothing to do with each other. Someone can have a quite calm persoality/raise their voice only when its emotional and still have quite harsh ideals.

Alright. I prefer playing simpler games on my iPad and more demanding/complex on my PC. I'd rather play a game that is pick-up-and play on the iPad since I mostly use it on the move, while I'd want to sit down and play a game like BG/DA:O/NWN2 for longer sessions with a bigger screen, better sound, hotkeys.. But that's just me. I just find it very odd that we got BG2, IWD2, NWN2/MotB/SoZ, Drakensang, DA:O and now all we can hope for are $2 iPad games. It's more than a bit jarring to go from hearing Obsidian say in 2008 that MotB did well and exceeded sales projections to Josh saying in 2011 that we can totally look forward to $2 iPad games with cutesy characters and no dialogue for our party-based CRPG fix. Who said anything like that? Hyperbole much?

So you're saying you'd preferred to play BG2 on iPad had it existed at the time? If it controlled just as well? Sure. It doesn't have to be an Ipad though.

I have an iPad and while I can see IWD working okay on it, I don't see how it would be more "awesome" than playing it on the PC. I don't see why someone specifically looking for a somewhat more complex RPG with tactical combat would prefer to play it on a mobile device. Like with any other "handheld" device. Mobility itself. Furthermore it would be much easier to market handdrawn 2D graphics and in turn a more classic TB system.

I don't really think anyone can be named here. Brown is unique in the way how he basically perfected literary mediocrity. Also, in general, people have terrible opinions about anything/anywhere. As for the whole debate. Have quite different opinions. I just really don't have an interest to go into detail since the whole thing is basically a lot of whining from all sides. Call me when its about brainstorming ideas on how to do interesting things narritivly with the capabilities of the medium.

In most cases much less cut than repurposed. The game went through 3? complete revisions during its development history. Much of that stuff was probably never intended to be used in the final version.

For a multiplattform title the PC Version does actually pretty well. (IMO) I also read somewhere that Portal 2 sold a couple of million units. Most of them - surprise - on PC. So no, 80k units for a franchise that started on the PC is not good. That's just outright bad. First Week And Portal 2s PC sales were quite extraordiary so its not the best comparison. Edit: Also even though DX started on PC its been a decade. Many players from back then moved on/went to consoles etc.. And for those who got interested and played later its "only" a legacy and don't really have the "It has to be on PC" feeling.

Highly stylized, high profile role playing game.

I was more wondering because of XBOX360/PS3/PC. So we have a plattform now. Or was that mentioned before? -

Background Enviroment Art? Am I right to assume this could be their 2D title? -
~100 years between DS1 and DS2. So ~50 between DS2 and DS3. Jeyne was born 2 years after DS2

I wouldn't say that. I'm not an expert in DS1+2 but DSIII pretty strongly hints in other directions and does not (just) portray them as doombringers. Edit: Or I may just get that sentence wrong. If so, forget it. Nice write-up anyway.

Ah, shame.

Yes, I would like to see them too. Never saw those. And this was stated by Chris Avellone and confirmed by other people including Ex-Obsidian designer Patrick K Mills on SA. And no its not "that" stupid at all from SEGAs point of view. EVERY RPG/Shooter hybrid, be it Mass Effect 1, Deus Ex, Vampire: Bloodlines, SS (somewhat) did the EXACT same thing. There was no Hybrid before ME2 (Or HR depending on where you set an hybrid) that DIDN'T do this. They wanted to play it safe. Its nice to say all that stuff NOW with HR and ME2 as examples. Yet they didn't exist back then and were an uncharted territory.

That's that but is that really only me who sees problems even in design philosophy? Also, if no Obsidian designers had seen any problem, why did Sawyer need to give a presentation like this even less than a month ago? I understand the psychology to blame publishers but Occam's razor tells me it's not the only reason. I'm not blaming anyone here. Simply put, it would be better for both designers and us if we are able to continue playing their games. No its not the only reason. Yes, in that case it was the reason It was stated that these mechanics were mandated by the publisher. Something that wasn't well received by the team.

~25 people at peak. Who wrote it?

Yeahhhhh I just didn't watch it on youtube. (Except I played that one scene youtube preview they did. I think it was the grocery store scene with shelby) Your insider info source about me seriously sucks dude.
