BioWare's New Game
Your mum, that's what. What fascists would call derailment or off-topic, is known here as "thread evolution". Because we do not hate freedom. Kaftan Barlast = Lord of the Flies sympathizer confirmed!

Witcher 2 'leaked' video
Pre-ordered on GOG.com. Can I cancel my The Witcher 2 preorder? It isn't possible to cancel the The Witcher 2 preorder, however preordering it on our site doesn't require you to purchase the game on our site, or at all. We would be more than happy should you wish to purchase this game from us eventually, though. And I've already got my goodies.

FO: NV (General Discussion)
There's nothing there that either confirms that or denies that actually.

Yes Man can't die. Just sayin'.

Obsidian needs to work on their tools. Changing the engine at every project must be damn tiring, not to mention that they clearly have difficulties learning to use them efficiently during the timeframes they have for their projects.

FO: NV (Spoilers)
What's so greedy about Caesar? Him and his Legionnaires certainly don't live in luxury or anything like that. His plan is pretty stupid, but you can't argue that he does it out of greed.

Are you saying that funcroc is a fat alien in a suit?

FO: NV (General Discussion)
I don't think this is the better thread to start discussing the departure from turn-based again, especially since I have the feeling that the whole discussion would just be repeating the same things ad nauseam.

FO: NV (General Discussion)
Weapons are generally more accurate in the game and VATS has been depowered a little in that the damage resistance is diminished and enemies aren't quite as slowed down as they were in Fallout 3. I don't really see that as dealing the killing blow to something that, frankly, was already quite dead, though.

FO: NV (Spoilers)
I guess reading All Roads gives you a different perspective on his character, because I don't really see anything in the game that suggests me that Benny's course of action was justified in any way, and he seems to be a pretty petty person overall. Really Benny? THE ****?
-
FO: NV (Spoilers)
I consider Benny to be worse than Caesar. At least Caesar has a noble goal, though it really comes down to him telling himself that to justify his petty dictatorial dreams. Benny has nothing. He's just a gangster who's good at smooth talking (though Matthew Perry's voice acting doesn't always get that point across).

Feargus Urquhart audio interview
Feargus apparently liked Gothic 4. All hope is lost.

The padding in Fallout 3 ruined some pretty brilliant side quest design. The Replicated Man was an absolutely awesome quest, as was Blood Ties.

Dragon Age 2
Article contains SPOILARZ. They say that the multiple-choice dialogues and characters were at Bioware's usual high level (of course, I now expect a reply from Boo when he'll say that it means that the game's story and characters will suck). The rogue's ability are Backstab, Explosive Strike and Miasmic Flask. The rogue is pretty much how they expected an archetypal rogue to be, but they lament some problems with the camera and general confusion. As I've said before, they praise the ability progression system, and give some examples: the 'Rush' ability can become 'Charge' OR 'Blitz', 'Miasmic Flask' becomes 'More Miasmic Flask' (great name btw ) and so on. Graphic-wise, there were some framerate problems, characters' details look to be about the same as DA:O but the city's design and detail looked much better than in its predecessor and the lighting engine is not at Mass Effect 2's level. They conclude that the demo was too short and that it's too early to judge it Bioware's design choices (which they define as 'bold') will pay off.

Dragon Age 2
Italian preview. I'll translate some snippets later, sorry guys, but I'm tired right now. I'd define the tone as 'cautiously positive' but I only skimmed through it. EDIT: I'll translate their 'Hopes & Fears' box at the end at least. Hopes * The narrative technique seems to assure a more involving experience * The new ability progression system was well thought-out * Visually it's still very fascinating... Fears * ...even if from the technical point of view a lot of work still needs to be done * The new combat system appears to need polish/to be refined * The PC version will probably the most changed even when it didn't always need the changes I've been a little liberal here and there but there shouldn't be any change to the meaning.

The achivements
Haven't you been on the interw3bz enough to know that we are using your message as an excuse to post smartass images? Being a little more serious, how often do non-Steamworks game get achievements? Since, as of now, we still don't know what DRM the game will use.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
If you have both consoles, I don't see why you would have gone for the PS3 version anyway. It's certainly going to be the version that gets the shaft, regardless on whether it'll come out or not.

Yahtzee reviews
Just ask Festus. Or heck, check what the Nuka-Cola honchos did in Fallout 3. Soda dehydrating you is perfectly acceptable in the setting.

FO: NV (Spoilers)
It's not what it looks like. They aren't like the Legion. It's just soldiers' bonding.

FO: NV (General Discussion)
Smiling Troublemaker means that you have more positive reputation than negative with the faction you have that reputation with. I don't remember how much, though.
