Bout to push some more Fallout New Vegas along before I take a turn on Lonesome Road for the first time. But before I do, I shall have to decide whether to have Veronica stay with the BoS or go Follower this play through... hm. decisions decisions.

Hm, I've just lost a companion somehow. Was in the Thorn with Arcade, engaged a couple of matches, left the Thorn and fast travelled somewhere.. only to find my companion wasn't with me. I still had the perk and all that.. but no companion. Went back to the Thorn, he wasn't there. Used the "Companion Dismissal" terminal that's supposed to send companiosn back to their home, and I can't find him at either the Lucky 38 or the Old Mormon Fort...

I end up trying to fit in bits of general exercise around my daily routine. Do 60-100 squats as I clean my teeth, whenever I've done x around the house then do a quick 20-3o pushups. Just try to get it all into a habit and scattered around what I'm doing normally rather then try to set up an hour or so to do a complete block of exercise all at once with no distractions. That and walking, and some general play with the dogs. I have a couple of free weights as well that I try to use for various shoulder/arm work and clutching at times when I do situps. I try to get in the odd bit of Iaido practice at home as well, but although thats martial arts, it doesn't really fall into heavy workout type...

Hm, I've realised I've let a huge amount of tv shows stack up that I meant to get around to watching. The last 3 seasons of Fringe, the last season of Nikita, ditto on Supernatural, and Haven... a few others scattered around. Finally managed to sit down and catch the final season of Eureka the other week. I have to admit, that had an odd sort of ending. Wasn't so much any particular wrap-up to life, more just a "and now we're back to normal and waiting for the next usual disaster" type of thing.

At the moment I am going to focus on thinking up important phrases it would be appropriate to learn in general before spending a few weeks in Mexico-City.. and then I can start pondering on speechwriting.. "I don't understand" "Could you repeat that?" "Which way to the bathroom?" "Where is the embassy?" "What sort of bribe were you wanting?"

So I'm to be the best man at my friends wedding just outside of Mexico City come April. To which the bride-to-be, has reminded me I need to learn enough spanish to translate my best-man's speech to her family... Although the potentially nerve inducing aspect that the groom's family and friends there will most likely number around a dozen, whilst her family will potentially be in the hundreds... The joys of weddings taking place in foreign countries...

For the minor rant - Modern jams/preserves you pick up from the local supermarket or chain of stores.. why the hell do they grow fur within a month of opening even if you stick them in the fridge? If I go out and pick up some olde traditional jam home made by some granny at a local church sale, they'll last for bleeding months left on the side with no problem. But modern jams? The whole fershnikt point of a jam is to preserve the damn fruit. So why the hell do they go rotten within such a short time? It's bloody crazy.

Yeah, unfortunately it would have to be a spiritual successor because Sega hold the rights to AP don't they? The bastards.

I have to admit, I'm half imagining an Expansion pack in the future which is purely set around a political storyline based on your stronghold... Ramping up on the potential strategic elements of a stronghold, as well as factional reactions in the surrounding areas, quests that sink more time in diplomacy and non-combat skills... Although yes, you need some combat to pace out as well, especially for characters that are much more combat focused then others...

A dungeon with no story is just senseless. It's pretty much a mass cliche of badly written fantasy gaming modules.. There needs to be a history and a personality to a dungeon. A reason for why its there, and a natural progression from whatever it was built so long ago for, and what is is now and infested with monsters of all varieties. And just because they're monsters, doesn't mean they aren't intelligent and have formed there own tribes, settlements, alliances and differences with other creatures within the depths of it. Just imagine going on some fantasy archeologist quest into this lost place, and not just killing creatures but also getting involved in dialogue with them. Teaming up with the kobolds in x location to help them face the nasty x-spawn from the other, which provides you with access to another area of dungeon.. Havng the history of the place involved in lore and quest decisions as you explore and loot..

Well from what I've seen the whole thing is a bit of a hybridised beast. Roberts has investors, and they've been working on this for a bit now. The crowd-funding effort is a mixed bit of "getting more money in to do it" and "proof of concept" to people who are already invested in it (whether to prove they can put more money in) and/or to initiate fresh investment from other sources by showing how popular it is still.

It's possible I might have been playing too much New Vegas of late. I had somewhat odd dreams of chasing an old girlfriend around some post-apocalyptic city and always just missing her whenever I arrived somewhere.... The morning start has been groggy as all get out. And the grey skies and scattering rain isn't helping any.

I have to admit the whole non-kickstarter thing was something that had me wary. That and the whole "Oh yeah, if you want your money back in case we don't reach our goal, y ou have to tick an extra option and you still won't get all your money back...." Maybe now I'll pledge something. Well, in a few weeks when I hopefully have some free money again. I still need to be able to buy some groceries soon after supporting PE..

I do, I need to talk to him about sorting out supplies for Fort McCarron. And Fitz is the proprietor of the Grub n Gulp, or whatever that place is called.
-
Must admit to getting a little annoyed with one bit. It is now impossible for me to go to the Gap n Gulp, without a squad of Legion Assassin's spawning and killing Fitz. No matter which direction I try to arrive in, whether I fast travel or not, They spawn, Fitz is in the wrong place, they open fire, and he's dead before I can even shoot one of the bloody bunch.

Heh, that lets you know how long it's been since i last played a complete game of FONV...

So the other important question.. is it a good idea to actually finish the main games story before doing Lonesome Road? How much effect does it have on Lonesome Road's ending if you start it before the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam?

I think chronologically speaking, Lonesome Road should be played last.. I went through Honest Hearts, Dead Money, then Old World Blues.. am going to go for Lonesome Road next..
