  1. I'd try and make a good chemistry joke. But all the best ones argon.
  2. I have to say, I think a Good Day to Die Hard has to rate as the worst of the Die Hard movies so far. I mean, the opening and what turns into a half-hour extended chase sequence through Moscow traffic before the plot really gets rolling. A couple of over-noisy mass gunfights that pull along with fragments of angsty father-son dynamic. I mean, I know part of the Die Hard idea is John McClane in a certain "fish out of water" experience usually. Cynical Cop in a White Collar High Rise building, Cynical cop stuck on an airport, cynical cop being run-around by a mastermind, cynical cop struggling with the digital age... But cynical cop stuck in Moscow with a secret agent son just doesn't seem to get the traction. They don't seem to push the one-liners that provided some amusement, and (to potentially spoil it), they can't seem to make up their mind on who the villain is. And even then, it just..there is no real villainous presence to banter again. What's a Die Hard film without McClane vs Villain banter?
  3. Note : Technically that bear does have a skin condition which caused the fur to fall out. No-one was crazy enough to actually shave it.. On to funnier things -
  4. The Netflix original series? Dang it, it's another one that was done in the UK yeeeaaars ago and someone in the US decided to make their own copy.
  5. Well it kind of makes sense. If they do want to turn it into more then one film, if they do a pseudo Human Revolution story first that lays the groundwork for going into the original game/story.
  6. Obviously not seen yet, but a short article about the potential of the planned Deus Ex film... http://www.movieweb.com/news/deus-ex-human-revolution-is-a-cyberpunk-movie-says-writer-c-robert-cargill
  7. Saw the public test server was back up, they've added a bunch of tweaks including the "level cap of 55" and such in advance of the expansion. Although now I no longer have 9,000 odd cartel coins.. or the damn expanded bay that I picked up last time I was playing on there.. C'est la vie.
  8. I left 3 notes scattered around the house earlier for my girlfriend. They said "Will", "you" and "me". That'll keep her busy whilst I watch tv."
  9. It goes to show, PR is everything. Just imagine if Sharks had had a Flipper instead of a Jaws....
  10. Recently Treehugger produced a 10 Reasons Dolphins Are Awesome Which was soon rebutted by Deep Sea News listing of 10 Reasons Why Dolphins Are **** So I shall present both lists, and let you decide..
  11. Without even the joys of an evening before hand in getting drunk, I find I'm trying to deal with the day whilst a grinding headache surfs along with occasional bouts of the "stabby-sharp-behind-the-eyeballs" moments.
  12. Because they think that Rugby should be played with 40 lbs of protective gear, and time outs every 5 minutes. So they call it American football.
  13. There was that old joke that used to run around about Nato forces and the different attitudes/training of the various groups involved at any one point. Ran something along the lines of "The worst mixed unit in Nato has a nurse from germany, a cook from england, a quartermaster from italy, a french engineer and an american officer. The best unit has a nurse from italy, a cook from france, a quartermaster from america, a german engineer and an english officer."
  14. Had a follow on night of bad sleep. By bad, I mean I didn't really fall to sleep until around 5am ish. I am now walking around in semi-zombie mode and still drinking from morning tea...
  15. So something I stumbled across the other day, and I was curious. How many of you folks know about it? Anyone tried it yet? http://bitcoin.org/
  16. "There is nothing new under the sun. Even inside the sun it's pretty much the same old hydrogen-fusion routine..."
  17. I would say... Quirky.
  18. What book are you reading that captivated you so much? A slightly whimsical semi-steampunk/alternate history style novel called "Etiquette and Espionage". In early Victorian England (in a world with steampunk and vampires and werewolves involved in politics), a young girl with a certain tomboy flair is sent off to finishing school. Only to find said school is a caterpillar-like dirigible, and the finishing school includes lessons on; poisoning, intelligence gathering, knife work, how to faint in a manner to attract a target's attention at a ball and no-one elses, how to manage the house-hold accounts so you can order the steak and the strychnine on a low budget, and other such assorted things alongside the more normal posture, dance, history, fashion and culture. "At Mademoiselle Geraldine's, young ladies learn to finish...everything. Certainly, they learn the fine arts of dance, dress, and etiquette, but the also learn to deal out death, diversion, and espionage--in the politest possible ways, of course."
  19. Well was one of those nights where I wasn't getting to sleep, so I made the mistake of thinking to read a couple of chapters and then plan on attempting sleep again. Enter finishing the book and realising it had gone past 5am...
  20. I have to admit, I can't really make up my mind on that one. It is nicely crafted and nicely acted, but... While there are some really good sequences in it, the whole thing just doesn't hang together for me to make it a really enjoyable Bond film. I don't know if it's the overbundance of "hollywood hacking" or the incredibly incompetent paranoia that the good guys have - I mean, they know these machines are hacked and it's absolutely vital for the storyline that they leave them fully connected to the Internal networks for days/weeks after.. The shout outs were both good to see but wince inducing at the same time even as I was amused to see them. It just feels a little bit bizarre. And the ending left it feeling as if half the point was just to introduce us to Fiennes character.
  21. "The victim, a pro wrestler, was found in the ring with third degree burns covering over half his body. The only evidence we found was a half-used matchbook." "Looks like he finally..." ( •_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) "Met his match."
  22. Kept waking up from weird frakking dreams through the early morning. Now I seem to be facing the day with one of those grinding headaches behind my eyeballs....
  23. Been dabbling on SS2 tonight. First time in a few weeks I've managed more then 20 minutes or so at a time of gaming. Currently just hit Operations level...
