  1. One of my friends had brain surgery yesterday, so there's been the keeping track of her sister to get news and updates on how that's been going. No obvious complications, but they're keeping her in the ICU for the moment and making sure no infections set in. So we'll have to see how that goes. It'll be kind of interesting, because it's about a 6-8 week recovery time, and they're the ones who invited me over to the US for my trip in.. 8 weeks. On the other side of it, the weather has turned weirdly muggy here, which is annoyingly sapping. Also, the dog has figured out that if she does the "poke-poke-jiggy-*dance-of-about-to-pee-the-carpet" people will pay attention to her more and get up from whatever they're doing to let her out, only to find she doesn't want to go out. Now it's that battle of starting to ignore her, and finding the one time she actually was about to pee the carpet..

  5. Eh, I have to admit, I picked up my homes, but I haven't been that impressed by the decorating side of it. It does mostly seem to be a sink for time and money, and I'm not sure it really grips me enough to spend time doing so.
  6. I have to ponder on Dragon Age 2, just what reason anyone might have for choosing to support the Templars at the end? Other than just because they feel like being a bit of a bastard? Either you're a mage yourself, or your sister is, and the Templars have basically said they're going to kill everyone for a crime that was committed by one person, who was stood in front of them. It's kind of like "Okay, so you want to kill everyone who you know wasn't involved, and either me or my sister along with it? Yeah, I'll support you. Of course I will." Okay, technically, it's possible your sibling won't be along, but still...
  7. Heh, and they've just released the "Official Event Video" of that Tough Mudder weekend, so for general amusement for those interested.. http://youtu.be/o-OpAY1BfPw Yes, I will be milking this, and for surviving that for years to come. http://youtu.be/OYTjWFmzB0o

  9. Still idling along on some more Dragon Age 2. I don't know if it's just because it's been so long since I first played it, or if I'm more forgiving now, but the re-use of maps isn't bothering me as much as it did when I first played it back when...

  20. Hm, been having intermittent ache/pain in my foot and ankle, interspersed with that tingling pins and needles up my leg since Wednesday. Trying to decide whether to go get it checked by the doctor or just see how it goes for another week first. That and I'm trying to figure out just what sort of mood I'm in and therefor what to engage with on this sunday afternoon...
  21. Eh, Bollocks. Tony Blair went and apologised for slavery to some African nations a few years ago. Of course, how many of those tribes have apologised to each other for the genocide they committed, or that they were selling each other to the slavers in the first place? Plus The Brits started enforcing anti-slavery laws a bit before others. Also interesting to note, historically speaking, (if I remember the statistics accurately) over 1,000,000 Europeans were taken as slaves into North Africa during the Renaiisance period but nobody really cares about them. But the point I'm making is that from a general point of view history tends to be fuzzy thing, full of popular images, cultivated perceptions, and turned into nice urban legends. Which most people are happy to go along with rather then establishing fact. Take note the statue of William Wallace that went up based on Mel Gibson, and how many people take the entire story of Braveheart as true fact.
